Hey matt, its me again. I think you should do more videos like this, especially about Boas, it is a great and informative video, thats why it is one of your most viewed on your channel, have a good day😁😁
thanks man I have a whole plalist with videos like this ruclips.net/p/PLPVUI08lScPt1INB6hiI41dRuM9BmC-F7 lol I've made so much content it's a little tricky to find but if you go through my playlists you'll find a ton of informative videos! The on the bucket playlist is pretty good to I think you would enjoy it. Let me know!
Gidday Matthew... thanks for the great content. Just wondering if it would help to buy yourself a sheet of white and black Bristol board? Nothing against the table lol... I think it will show the colour off more. Beautiful animals. Can’t wait for other morph vids👍👍 Like the new intro but you and your daughter in the intro are missed ♥️👍👍
They're really nice looking animals. I would much rather buy from a private breeder who I can meet (or watch on youtube) and I can see that he or she cares about the animals as opposed an animal that's taken care of by a minimum wage chain store employee who is likely thinking about something other than what's best for these animals. $150 for a normal BCI that is healthy and socialised is very reasonable Those who think it's too much may not be looking at the big picture You are about to purchase a baby animal that will live for 20 to 30 years it will outgrow numerous enclosures require constant care and feeding trips to the vet and unexpected expenses the initial purchase price is a small percentage of the ownership experience Anyway enough ranting out of me I have enjoyed watching your channel it is plain to see you care about these creatures and I for one think your little dudes and dudetes are worth what you're asking if not more
I bred my normal Het Snow female to a Hypo Sunglow and now have 24 beautiful babies. She did have one Albino (Sunglow?) but sadly it didn’t make it, my question is what would be the correct way to list them for sale and what dollar amount would be fair to ask? Love your channel, keep on keeping on! Chris.
They would be 50% het anery 100%het albino but with 24 babies you would have about 50% visual albinos with that pairing also your normal het Snow wouldn't be able to prove out the anery. I have a feeling the normal het Snow isn't actually her Snow and the albino that died may have been a clone of the mother. So you have normals and hypos that are all 100% het albino because Dad is a visual albino. Watch my recessive video until you understand it. Price is all dependent on where you live and the demand. Here those would all be 100-200 tops boas live a long time and get big honestly I'd offer them to your friends that can give them a good home and I would keep the prettiest hypo female cause she is 100%het albino and but dad to her in 4 years to get a half albino super sunglow litter but personally don't breed unless you can get them in good homes. Always best to breed less and get them im good homes. I breed 1 or 2 pairs a year now vs the 5+ I did before because I'd rather get a few in good homes than produce so many and care less about where they go.
@@SnakeCakeExotics Thanks for the information really helpful! Yeah I agree with not breeding too much, not going to do it again till this litter is gone. Most are already spoken for. I have another question for you if it’s ok? I live in the US and a friend of mine owns a private pet shop not the big box type of pet stores. He said he can sell them out of his store but I would need to have an IBD test done, ever hear of this? My next breeding when these find homes will be a 100% female Kahl albino to a male Hypo Summit Pastel Jungle 66% Het Kahl albino. Still figuring out the whole gene thing, your videos are really helpful thanks again. Chris
@@rockarolla4756 don't bother. Tests wouldn't be reliable for a year Plus it's something that about 50% of boas naturally carry. The test is for arenas virus and made by 1 bio chemist. Most ppl don't test and most ppl have it without knowing. It's just a money grab and means nothing. I had about 80% of my breeders test positive for it years ago and they are all still perfectly fine. Watch my playlist on it. It's something I was very open about and the only some what legitimate excuse the community bands me from shows here yet they haven't tested their own collections. You can try but I'm telling you there will be positives and it won't mean anything. Boas naturally carry arena. IBD is also what every snake that is sick will be labeled with cause most vets don't know anything mind you here in Canada they are much worse.
@@SnakeCakeExotics Thanks! I figured something wasn’t right about testing. If you buy a boa in a pet store you don’t get anything saying it was tested for anything all you get is a receipt. Same with reptile shows which is where I bought all my snakes from and nobody had signage stating snakes were tested for anything, hell some snakes there even come with mites if you’re not careful. Thanks again for answering my questions, it’s very helpful having someone who’s been there done that to reach out too. Chris
@@rockarolla4756 np buddy, I been through the ringer and basically got cancelled for being honest. The community is the worst I've ever experienced. But I spent a decade building my hobby, bred over 20 species and never had 1 unhappy customer. I always been happy to help teach and entertain anyone including my competition. Always thought we should help each other grow but instead too many ppl breed and under charge and disrespect the animals. They deserve a lot more. So I try to encourage ppl to really think about that. Best to save your money and just work with your dream project vs having too many animals in not enough good homes. Biggest mistake I made was all the snakes I bought in the beginning. Now I'm moving more towards GTP as less ppl are able to deal with them. Mine are all sweet hearts :) I'll eventually make a couple videos explaining all the crap that went down but it's emotionally draining. Check out Toronto FPV it's my drone channel and a lot more fun :) I design drones and the drone ppl are a lot more fun plus shipping isn't a nightmare.
I'm going through and watching your older videos and picked up on the white scale thing which gave me a question My Ghost boa has white speckles on his scales, almost like how a banana ball python would but with white. He has this with black and grey too, he is a very spekled man. Could this mean he is het Albino? This is more out if curiosity than actual breeding plans. I wish I could ask the breeder but he was a rescue from kijiji and the previous owners didn't even know what a BCC vs a BCI was or what humidity was so I wasn't surprised when they had no idea about his genetics
yes I believe yellow scales is a sign that there is het albino if they are in the right locations more on top where they shouldn't be than the sides. the sides will have white scales and that's normal but when you see random light scales on top its usually a sign of Albinism
Yes ppl sell their normals for nothing often. I've never had a problem selling mine for 150 always sold out as they are the cheapest snakes I sell. If breeders valued their animals more it would help the market and cause people to value the animals more. When they sell them for nothing to me they are disrespecting the trade they are in. Breed less charge more and take better care. Everyone wins including the animals.
What would you recommend if you want a boa for size rather than morph? I would like to buy a female that has a super high probability of achieving 7 to 9 feet in length. Is it true that the mother's size is the primary factor?
yes and feeding, you could easily get a female bci to that size quickly by over feeding which you don't want to do but if you keep a female 6+ years she'll eventually get there. if you want that size your better off finding a nice 5year old or older. they live a long time anyways and many people end up selling when they get that size so that would be my suggestion adopt one that needs a home!
Is it possible it was always there and you just didn't notice? And or if you feed live he may have been bit. It's common for them to have little kinks sometimes but usually they are born that way or after trauma
I would love to have access to those prices in Costa Rica is not allowed to get local wildlife or import captive reproduce animals (exotics pets) Many greetings lovely animals
why do you keep touching them on the head when they don't want to? you handle your snakes a bit weird in my opinion. You will probably say that you want to keep them in the shot. But just put them down and if they move out, you can just pick them up and handle them just like "Jason's Exotic Reptiles" he does it great, not to hate on you. But as you say yourself "its scared right now" well yeah of course its scared when you handle it like that. And i know you did handle it normally in the end but in the start its kind of triggering.
Yes the camera was mounted and I was by myself so did what I had to do. In an ideal situation I would be able to follow with the camera in hand but then the snake might go somewhere else or if I had someone else to hold it or so many other things but in this case I was trying to get a certain look. Most of the time I'm not trying to keep a snake still so this wouldn't be a problem. I also touch all my snakes faces often to let them know they aren't being fed. Like tap training except I use my hands and they rarely ever bite. Jason does a great job too and we all do things differently. I send many American potential customers his way.
