    The figure swapping aspect isn't the only thing about the new plastic free packaging that bothers me. The fact that we can't see the figure we could buy to make sure the paint apps are good or if there are errors in molding, and the fact that Hasbro jacked up the price are also big factors. Hasbro's quality control is hit or miss at best.

    I am an unopener so am quite disappointed in the new packaging. 1. Feel like they can drop their quality control massively, because you can’t inspect each figure. 2. As mentioned I collect to keep in box and enjoy my figures but still being able to see them. Personally it’s removed the drive for me to collect ongoing and I’m trying to grab the last few pieces. I noticed that George Lucas 50th Storm Trooper from the latest convention and all figures were promoted in the clear packaging.

      Like Star Wars vehicles people have to open them to check if its satisfactory. Not that you won't be able to get a replacement but a chance to buy another. I made that mistake with my AT-AT vehicle having a broken firing cannon. Luckily I bought another at clearance but now for reason for clearance on the full priced one being replaced with a better clearanced one.

    My biggest problem with this is the humidity factor. Cardboard absorbs moisture and if something is just sitting inside cardboard like these will be when they are shipped, it's a bigger chance of mold and/or water damage to form. This will also increase production time cause you have to wait for all ink to set before the boxes can be folded into shape or else it can destroy the cardboard. The paper wrapping is going to do nothing but rub the figure with it. At least in the past figures in boxes were wrapped in plastic bags to try to mitigate this. Maybe I'm overthinking it but it completely turned me off to collecting.

    I’m torn with the packaging change. I give kudos to Hasbro for actually making a change to limit their single-use plastic usage, but as a collector I’m torn. I like buying at least one figure to keep in the box & (if I can afford it) a second one to take out to enjoy hands-on. Part of why I liked keeping them in box was having them visible & protected. Another pro with having the window was being able to see how each figure looked (paint/print application, good molds, etc). But now, if I buy any I’ll be more likely to open it than not & I guess I’ll just have to pray I get a decent figure.
    In fact, I got my first figure in the new packaging today: Namor from the new “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” movie. I did get lucky & everything looks fine with him. If I’m going to be paying $25 per regular figure now, I’d definitely like to see what I’m buying before I go through with it.

      Single use plastic is a scam by the petroleum industry. All plastic is recyclable. They just lie about it so you'll throw it out. Recycling hurts their bottom line. That's why they even design food packages so that you can't easily reuse them. This is SJW nonsense that won't help the world. It will hurt their company's profits though. So yay! Ignorance!

And as far as the environment...there are already plenty of eco friendly plastics - they are just expensive which is why no big publicly traded company will use them...since it would hurt profits...so I kindof get what Hasbro is attempting but i mean in the overall scheme of things with plastics in our world - this little bit a plastic on the boxes doesn't even compare to say something like 2 liter soda bottles or say the plastic wrap moving companies use...but I digress...glad u at least pointed out that the normal characters look like dead bodies...cause ur spot on there too! ; )

If this was about the environment they'd start by cancelling Black Series and focussing on the Vintage Collection cause less plastic. It's probably just cheaper. And now easier for swap-scammers. At least with plastic windows, you can see how the figure looks and spot any errors from the outside. But you can’t with this type of packaging.

    IMO I think its cool of hasbro to cut waste, even if they are a toy company making a bunch of plastic toys anyways, cool of them to try and limit it. I do not believe this will affect figure swapping very much, the packaging is still tough to repack, aswell as the risk of swapping returns being a possibility with literally any purchase ever (but if things really start getting bad... just stop allowing returns on them). I think people getting upset over it are literally only collectors who only care for the value side of things, at that point they might as well just buy a certificate of purchase or something lmao. and if a bunch of "fans" are gonna quit collecting, more for me to actually unpack and display.

    also arent the people who order these online ALREADY just trusting product images and not the front window? so why not just extend that trust here lol

    This makes me not want to buy Black Series even more. It's bad enough that we have to worry about scalpers, but to pay more for something that we can't see only discourages me from wanting to buy the figure. Most figures now are $25---which is already insane.

    This change angers me only because Hasbros quality control is crap and now you can’t even make sure the paint apps are good before buying them. On top of that now they are like 30 bucks a figure. Which is WAY too much.

  • @bassphomet

    I don't like it too much beacuse I can't see any painting issues (if the figure has one) and, at least in my country, Hasbro raise the price in this new pieces and doesn't make sense because it should be "cheaper" to manufacture. Also, they recently announce Mara Jade for September and the box still has the plastic window just like the Obi-Wan in the video. I hope Hasbro do the things right.

      @@that-one-dude23 I forgot this comment and let me just tell something: A friend recently bought the Luke Skywalker Imperial Light Cruiser Black Series from an offer in departamental store and it happened; the figure has a painting issue in the face wich we never couldn't see because of the plastic free package. As i have been noticed, it's not common this kind of issues but i got bad luck. This only confirms my comment and the problem Hasbro has to solve here and in the Marvel Legends line.

    I cancelled my pre order for black series Luke Skywalker from the mandalorian line. The CGI art image doesn't match the actual figure that you are getting in the box. The robe shows it clasped in the art box, the actual photo's show an open robe and no clasp. Clearly deceptive marketing. So I cancelled it.

    • @katherynet1424
      @katherynet1424 Год назад

      Additionally I don't think it's anything to do with the environment. They removed the plastic window to save on production costs imo, they actually increased the cost of how much you'll pay for the figures though. This is just about profit's.

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 Год назад

      $66 is retail w/ free shipping for the set. Today, retail per figure is $25, so that leaves $16 as Grogu's pricetag. Not saying it is or isn't worth it, but that's the breakdown.

    I'm not buying window less boxes I don't trust companies paint and QC issues. Plus I'm more hating Hasbro as is. So yah they don't have me with the windows and now I'm completely lost.
