- Who would win in a fight between Pit from Kid Icarus and Samus from Metroid? Today we break down all of their abilities and have an animated battle to figure out the answer. Smash Bracket is an animated Vs Battle series created by InkThinks dedicated to answering the question... Who is canonically the strongest character in Super Smash Bros. History?

I like the fact that Samus only fight Pit because she doesn't want him to die to Ridney. Also I like how she checks him pulse to may sure he breathing and she didn't accidentally kill him.

I love that Detail. Samus may be a cold and isolated Bounty Hunter, who is brooding in comparison to other Nintendo heroes, but her heart's still in the right place. She spared Pit's life instead of tearing him apart like what Ridley would have done.
And now Pit and Ridley have a chance to fight each other in the loser bracket, woops?

It's the small touches that add so much to the fight.
The dirt and dust building up on the characters, both offering a single chance of surrender while at the advantage, followed by that standoff after their suits are broken where both fighters clearly understand that there will be no surrender...
Pit's comical banter and dramatic speeches, Viridi's supportive sass, Samus' one badass line.
And yes, the adorably sad Pichu cameo, with Dark Samus and Dark Pit setting off for their own fight.

@@sdosneaker1690 It's scary to think that with her pocket-dimension blaster, far greater tactical skill, and OBSCENE effective combat speed made even more broken by additional modifiers, Samus would most likely come out on top of that fight!
If all of Pit's absurd abilities and similar skill were just barely insufficient to beat Samus, I don't see an untrained and largely haxless foe besting her. Sure, both Kirby and Samus can win in one hit, but she has way more skill, speed, and hax to help land said hit.

I love how Samus had a deep and brooding voice with her helmet on.
This has to be my favorite fight so far, everyone, especially the animation team and writers, knocked it out of the park. Loved the dynamic between the two characters, and every scene was super tense. Excellent work. Time to catch up on everything else I’ve been missing.
I was really hoping my boy Pit would pull through but oh well... Hopefully Dark Pit will be able to get revenge on Dark Samus when they eventually fight. But regardless this was a very fun watch, the 3D animations from you guys just keep improving! I didn't expect RacoonBro to be in the analysis, but it was a welcome surprise. Overall, this is a great episode and I'm excited to see Villager take on Alex.
Dark Pit’s probably gonna die, unless he gets teleported out before the final blow is dealt. Samus doesn’t kill unless ness-sary but Dark Samus will be fighting to kill.

Doubt it. Dark Samus is Samus’ equal in physical stats. And while her arsenal is less versatile than Samus, it is still pretty wide and can keep Pittoo on the back foot. Lastly…
PHAZON IS BULLSHIT! Even with invincibility, healing, and status cleansing powers, there is NO WAY Dark Pit can last long enough before succumbing to a fatal case of space cancer.
Honestly, I think Dark Samus is going to make it more than halfway through the bracket on Phazon poisoning alone.

That was a really clean fight and I was super surprised at the outcome, I thought it was a Pit W for sure. I now have a newfound fear of Samus since that speed calculation is downright terrifying, the 3D models were really good, the voice acting was great, the characterization and writing was excellent, the fight animation didn’t feel super one sided at any point, the buildup to the fight was great, the use of each character’s abilities was also really well done, and all in all the animation felt like it fit into the overarching “Smash Bracket Cinematic Universe” that you’re making here. Very well done, this was an excellent vs battle! Please let Samus not fight anyone I care about next time…
Finally got around to watching this. While it's unfortunate that Pit won't be moving on as I like his personality, but the animation was so sick that I'm alright with it. My new favorite smash bracket, here's to bigger things in 2023!

You know, I’m happy with this result. I’m glad that Pit was given access to all of his options, feats, and skills. This was a really sick and pretty dang accurate fight. It was definitely really close.

Their characters shone through really well in this one, and the fight almost had me second guessing that Samus would stomp with how even it seemed. Nice going.
It really looked like it's just a handful of people leaving messages like that, I can understand being upset to see them but it's a small part of your viewerbase and not worth validating this much. Plenty of people love your videos and recognize how much care goes into them, even when there are ways they could be improved. I hope stuff like this doesn't discourage you from taking genuine criticism to heart, because there are people who talk from a place of wanting the series to be even better.

Super glad to see that this turned out so well. As usual, the team did an absolutely fantastic job. Y'all keep killing it on the Metroid episodes and I love it, especially in the characterization department. That was knocked out of the park in Link vs. Ridley, and it was again here. Samus protecting Pichu is a wonderful callback to Subspace. I love them both giving their opponent a chance to surrender, and how they both just deny it out of sheer determination. Samus deciding to take the fight so he wouldn't have to go after Ridley is wonderful, too. What a banger of an episode.
Please never stop making these videos!! They are absolutely INCREDIBLE SPECTACLES to watch!!!

Both samus and pit are God tier characters in the smash franchise. I'm actually surprised to see Samus' super bombs, screw attack (nearly invincible), and shine spark not used. At least shine spark was mentioned. But with all due honesty both these characters could definitely compete in the highest levels of the bracket and are probably top 5. So much history, upgrades and content to pull from. Absolutely loved this video I wish it could've kept going much longer. I didn't want it to end
I wouldn't say top 5. but she is up there. I think Shulk, Pyra and Mythra (mostly as Pnuma.), Joker, Sephiroth, and Cloud could all beat her more often then not.
@dbfan199 That and Dark Samus is basically a better version of Samus given her Phazon hax combined with being faster than Samus and having direct speed feats that surpass the lowball Smash Bracket gave Samus. Obviously, Dark Pit is dead, especially considering Dark Samus wouldn't care to spare him from the start, but honestly I can see Dark Samus getting up to characters like Shulk who could just cancel out her power and erase her, but she could beat almost anything before that

I agree with the outcome but not the stats.
Samus’s hax are far greater than pit’s while raw stats go to pit.
They used still shots in mangas and death battle tier logic to put samus way above what’s actually shown which is a huge no no in real powerscaling.
That said, some of samus’s hax abilities can instantly kill pit and pits hax are either actually palutena’s powers or from an uncanon multiplayer vs mode.
Ok, that was a pretty good fight. Honestly, my favorite of the 3d battles.
I really liked the contrast of Pit being far more talkative and silly to Samus being more serious and much quieter and I like all the moves and weapons the two used to fight each other.
I also gotta give props to the actress who voiced Viridi. I think she nailed it.
The only major complaint I have is that it would have been cool to see the 3 sacred treasures used in the fight. Though it was pretty cool to see zero suit samus used in a way that still makes sense in the fight.

Yet once again truly beautiful animation, fun voice acting, and very deep character analysis and research. Personally I like the pairings you guys do cuz you're going by the game's roster which only gives you so much to work with but there's still plenty of characters with plenty of things in common anyway.
I think it's also cool that even though it's probably not a big deal, Samus did get some bonus training from her time in the galactic federation military and she even combine some of their tech with her gunship at one point The Best of both worlds I suppose.

Man this one was a banger...poor Pit though but hey, this was a really close fight though and Pit did do his best and that's good, and I can't wait to see what goes down between Dark Samus and Dark Pit and later on, Palutena and Byleth since those two fights tie into this one.
Next Time: Oh already jumping to this one now but could Alex truly move on to the next round after winning the Minecraft Royale or will Villager prevent that from happening, guess I will find out soon since it's likely to be sometime in 2023.
This, fittingly enough, rivals the Link vs. Ridley remake as the best 3D fight you've done so far. Echoing everyone else who appreciates how Samus is motivated to fight Pit out of tough love: in general, their dynamic of a serious, grizzled soldier vs. a lighthearted but determined warrior worked really well.

Well to be fair to a few things, 1. Samus is gonna get more rounds, so covering EVERYTHING makes future writting harder, 2. It's likely like Satanael with Joker, best save the best for last.

Really liked the video it was fun to watch and very entertaining. Although I do have a question Will you be using the Mario and Luigi series for the analysis for Luigis overall power when he has to go into a versus debate. Because trust me there is a lot of stuff in those five games.
This was incredible. The animation was amazing, seeing the sheer respect for these two was great, and I loved seeing Raccoonbro’s cameo too. You’re easily one of the most consistently awesome VS shows on the web, and maybe my favorite.
As for the next time, I’m betting Alex is going to take this since Animal Crossing is way less combat-centric than Minecraft.
It is a weird match up to me, but I think it works well thematically and I really love the fight!

This was really good! The most important things a VS Show has to do is 1) Be entertaining and 2) Properly represent the characters and both of these were done very well. I am extremely happy that your characterization of Pit and especially Samus is so on point. Metroid is my favorite video game series and Samus is one of my favorite characters in general; due to Metroid's popularity and how it presents it's lore a lot of people are unaware of what Samus' character is like or state that she didn't have much of one until Other M happened. Now I'm going to start talking about the episode and most of my critique will be from the Metroid side of things since I know much more about it than I do Kid Icarus.
Pretty good summation of Samus' backstory and considering the time allotted you went over a lot of her abilities as well. Using the psionic abilities of the Chozo as a way to explain Samus' sensemove/sixth sense she seems to have is an idea I thought of, although I never thought that it might explain her Melee Counter as well, that's pretty cool! You did well condensing 36 years worth of Metroid content into roughly 10 minutes. Lumping the Shinespark ability into her movement speed of the Varia Suit instead of being an extension of Samus' Speed Booster was an odd decision. Speaking of which, some of Samus' iconic abilities like the Speed Booster, Screw Attack and Space Jump as well as her visors like the Scan, Thermal and X-Ray Visors weren't mentioned, but the Affinity Weapons from Prime Hunters got their own segment of the analysis. Interesting. What I consider the strangest exclusion is the Metroids themselves. The series is named after them, they're in nearly every game in the series and Samus' relationship with them is pretty important to Metroid Dread (especially since the battle animation uses Samus' Dread Gravity Suit which I love since it looks so cool!). The only reason I can think of for this being skipped is because 1) It takes enough time to go over Samus' backstory and gear, dedicating time to the Metroids and a closer look at the Chozo as a result can drastically increase Samus' section of the pre-battle analysis. 2) The next Metroid character in Smash Bracket is Dark Samus who is a Metroid that's heavily mutated by Phazon. Phazon itself being another important thing not covered, but Dark Samus IS Phazon so kill three birds with one stone I suppose with her analysis in the future. Still, it's strange that Phazon was at least mentioned but the Metroids themselves were intentionally omitted in every way (it seems that way to me at least). Also slight correction, the Dark, Light and Annihilator Beams were collected on Aether not Tallon IV.
For the fight itself, very entertaining battle with some cool stuff throughout for both characters. Once again the characterization of both combatants are on point. Samus starting the battle by catching Pit's sword was HYPE! Samus blocking Pit's club was really cool; following that up with freezing Pit in ice and then blasting him with a flamethrower was brutal! Props to Pit for not backing down even a little bit despite how beat up he's gotten by that point in the battle. The part where Samus started Melee Countering the Sacred Treasures was awesome, sort of gave me Metal Gear Rising Revengeance vibes too! The entire premise of the battle makes sense, Samus would have no interest and only bothered to keep Pit from engaging with Ridley, she even checked to see if he still had a pulse at the end. Samus seemed to stick to using her Power Beam and regular Missiles for most of the fight witch I find kind of weird. She never stacked her other beams as the fight went on although she did use Ice Missiles a few times. Samus' main methods of attack are using her beams and Missiles but sticking to the base Power Beam and Missiles instead of upgrading as the fight progressed would have been cool. Something for next time perhaps. However, a lot of iconic power ups are absent. Granted, going through everything Pit and Samus have ever acquired and giving each ability their five minutes of fame would cause the fight to drag so you can only use so many abilities while also keeping up the narrative of the fight, Samus not truly going all out against Pit to avoid killing him (which can get pretty difficult considering Pit is pretty strong himself). No Space Jump/Screw Attack, no Power Bombs, the Flash Shift is a REALLY cool new ability but it wasn't used. You mentioned multiple times in the pre and post-battle analysis that the Dark Burst could potentially end the battle, but you never at least show Samus use it or charge it despite having the Sonic Boom (the weapon that cause a rip in space time) be used on the Sacred Treasures. The Speed Booster and Shinespark were only there in spirit since Samus started to run and glow blue as if she was going to Speed Boost, then she jumped into the air while glowing orange to signify the Shinespark, but the glow quickly faded and Samus aimed her Arm Cannon at Pit instead of trying to shoulder bash into him. The Speed Booster/Shinespark is SOOOO cool, so only seeing it once at the end is a shame, especially since Pit's Sacred Treasure's knock Samus away. The Shinespark is Samus' strongest attack in gameplay outside of temporary final boss weapons like the various Hyper Beams or the Omega Cannon but Samus going splat onto the Sacred Treasures after Shinesparking seems off. Especially when you think about the fact that Samus's Melee Counter can apparently knock off one of the Sacred Treasure's arms. This next point isn't really a critique of the animation but something I've never been fond of. Why did Samus' Power Suit fall off? There's never been a point in the Metroid games where Samus' Power Suit deactivates after Samus' energy reaches 0 only for her to continue fighting in Zero Suit. Every time Samus' health reaches zero she dies, you get a game over. This is extremely apparent in the Prime 1 and 2 game over screens. Prime 2 has a close up of an x-ray of Samus' heart as she goes into cardiac arrest and dies. Besides, Samus' Power Suit is bio tech, it's integrated so deeply into her body that the suit and it's power ups run through Samus' DNA sequence (going off of Samus & Joey) so if the suit is destroyed, wouldn't Samus be MASSIVELY effected by it? Instead she just gets back up. Besides that kind of thing only happened in Smash Bros Brawl for using the Zero Laser. Even then that was sort of retconned since that doesn't happen anymore in Smash 4 and Ultimate.
For the post analysis, saying that Samus vs Pit is a debate of stats vs abilities in some way makes it sound like stats are all Samus had when she has a longer list of abilities at her disposal than Pit does. However, the fact that you mentioned that you had to condense 36 years of Metroid content into a rapid fire analysis makes me think you know this as well. You aren't entirely wrong about it being stats vs abilities though since Samus has the superior stats, yet Pit's more off the wall abilities and transmutation items could still give him the win. Also since Samus has collected over 60 unique abilities throughout the Metroid series, saying that she has "decent versatility" is funny to me. I'd argue that Samus has the edge in combat intelligence since she can figure out how to defeat all sort of different enemies in various different environments all on her own and has been doing this for longer than Pit has. Another point I'd argue against is the line about Samus' scanner (I'm assuming you mean her Scan Visor) wouldn't have anything on Pit. Samus' Scan Visor could document basically everything on Phaaze, a planet the Chozo were going out of their way to find but couldn't. Samus was also able to scan and get information on Chozo Ghosts, Phantoon who was a creature that exists in multiple dimensions at once (going off of the Other M gallery for that one) as well as all the other stuff she's encountered. Being an angel, even if there were some things Samus' Scan Visor couldn't pin down about Pit, she should at least be able to tell what equipment Pit had and what they're capable of. The Scan Visor is an extremely important piece of equipment for Samus so not mentioning it in the analysis and saying it just wouldn't work in what is essentially a throw away line at the end is disappointing in a way for me.
Now that my essay is complete, this was a really good episode! Easily my favorite so far. If I was to think of another opponent for Samus to go up against I'd recommend Megaman since there's plenty of connections between the two and I'd be interested to see Samus' abilities go up against Megaman's massive arsenal of weapons. Considering Pit lost to Samus, Dark Samus is going to kill Dark Pit super hard... unless Samus can get her Power Suit back before the fight is over and go help since I doubt she'd forget about about Dark Samus. Congratulations on being able to put this episode together and giving one of my favorite characters the respect she deserves. Looking forward to what you release next.

Sam us has her reserve tanks giving her about 30% of her health back after a killing blow ignoring the attack even if it’s ongoing so that would negate that move also she has the hyper beam she absorbed from the baby Metroid which in turn took it from the chozos strongest and most intelligent creation mother brain which in comparison to the plasma beam against Ridley the plasma does 300 at best while the hyper beam does 1000 and the screw attack does 2000 meaning the assumed 2 hits to kill turns into about .3 hits on the beam and the beam does 1000 no matter the armor so samus wins easy just with super Metroid gear

I’m surprised Samus’ Metroid powers or her Metroid suit weren’t mentioned. I thought that would of been a large factory in this fight, like Samus draining the the energy from the great sacred treasure. Other that that, this was a great fight.
If she used it she would actually kill him on accident so she wouldnt use it either way

A classic example of why speed is the most important factor in a versus debate. Pit could theoretically win if he landed one of his most powerful attacks, unfortunately he was fighting someone who he realistically never had a chance to hit.
There's a couple errors here though. First of all, you say that 1.9 petawatts (I suppose you're probably talking about petajoules since none of her weapons charge for much more than a second) is over 1900x stronger than the little boy nuke. This is really false considering that this would only be true if the little boy exerted 1 terajoules of energy, when in reality, it exerted around 63 terajoules of energy. Additionally, I'm pretty sure any calculation yielding nearly 2 entire petajoules for an explosion like that would be flawed. The little boy nuke could've easily killed that monster many times over.
Also, your value for Samus's durability seems quite flawed. We don't know how close to the epicenter of the giant explosion comparable to the size of the planet Samus was, so we don't know how much of it she tanked. The most we get is that she was at the edge of the explosion when it had already largely expanded, but the thing is, this doesn't yield much energy at all. I don't think it would even get past building level.
The assumption that she somehow has MFTL reactions via piloting the ship is also flawed. Space is mostly empty, so you really don't need MFTL reactions to get go an intergalactic location. I also don't see why you assume autopilot wasn't a thing and that she simply did all this manually.
However, she certainly does have an edge over Pit via the volt driver firing multi terajoule amounts of energy.
Also, with Pit, I don't think it's appropriate to calculate his kinetic energy with formulas that are demonstrably wrong at speeds comparable to light speed. You just can't calculate FTL kinetic energy.
Dang. That's one of my mains out of the bracket, two more to go. Fantastic episode nonetheless!

The analysis was amazing, and the animation was HYPE (I adore that Great Sacred Treasure model)!
That said, I do have two nitpicks.
A.) Samus should have had the combat intelligence and smarts advantage rather than tieing with Pit. Pit is by no means dumb, but most of the strategy he uses is a result of Palutena/Viridi hand holding him. Far less capable than Samus on his own.
And B.), which is a big one… WHY DIDN’T YOU GIVE SAMUS HER METROID DRAINING POWERS!? THAT WAS HER COOLEST ONE AND YOU IGNORED IT! 😖

So before we even begin, I know this was no one's fault, but for some reason the live chat didn't work at all, I'm pretty sure no one knows why, but I ain't blaming anyone in the team or some rando in the chat that someine might blame for hacking.
Analysis's: Samus' I already knew her backstory, but they way it was presented reminded me of how dark it is, like, props to the chozo (mostly) for being able to help young Samus, and damn, I may have never played a Metroid game until Dread, but just hearing about the weapons felt satisfactory (I like weapons ok). And Link may be my favorite Hero in video games, Samus is a close second, idk she's just that bada$$, and her character development is amazing. Also I did not know about the manga, but it sounds amazing, and funny and I love it. Now for Pit, first off I was not expecting RacoonBro to come in, but I loved it, his voice gives me the adrenaline rushes of a week (also Hades cutscene, based), anyways, I was not aware how deep Kid Icarus lore was, and it was presented greatly, and starting the arsenal, I got a small chuckle to the credit card. And Jebediah Christopher the endings of the original Kid Icarus were messed up. Also may I say again, it was a good choice to bring RacoonBro for Pit's segment, that small callback to the Merc with a Mouth was a fun one.And again, hearing about the arsenals was a blast, if ya get what I mean,Now we finally get to the fight, and it gave me a shock of the brutality shown in front of me, and that Samus, Pichu moment was cute, and the rest of the fight, God, DANG, That was clean! I loved the fact that they don't even want to fight in the first place, Samus rather wants to find Dark Samus, and Pit is too good hearted that he rather let Samus go, until he used her trigger word, and the fight was amazing, you could feel the speed, and the use of arsenals was amazing, and I felt the pain of Pit's screams when he was getting burned, and then the Great Sacred Treasures came out, and Samus just, UNLOADED that arsenal, Oh my god I love it!
And the victor was explained greatly! (Not spoiling, you want spoilers? Hades took them all)
As for the next time... Well then.

Pit kept up and defeated a goddess who was shown and said to move at the speed of lightning. He even was able to hit her directly…
So grateful even the Zero suit showed up this is definitely the best battle yet! I hope her suit can stay stronger with the harder battles to come
They used the Metroid dread suit which is still weaker than the base power the phazon energy device suit has some of her strongest attacks and defenses but phazon doesn’t exist meaning her light suit is the strongest suit making her nearly invincible

I still really love these bracket fights but you really should clairfy that you're taking from any source material the character is in to determine their strength. Cus there's been certain things like greninja's and pikachu's best feats of strength clearly coming from the anime, other characters being super strong in some manga etc. Great video thou :D
