Also let’s not forget Bush Sr promised no more new taxes and didn’t keep to that promise as well as some people were upset that the economy going back up fast enough. I think even without Ross Perot I still think would’ve had more than the edge over Bush mainly because he was very charismatic. He had that uppity, cheerful personality and also he was a centrist democrat. A lot of the negative things were true about him, but I won’t deny that the man had a lot of charisma, he was young, and was very likable when he was president. He was also the first Democrat to win two terms since FDR who succeeded in winning his second term 60 years earlier. I still say had he been able to run again he would’ve won and if you change the name on the ballot from Hillary to Bill, I think he would’ve won the election in 2016.
