Note: I covered an earlier build of Kusan before, but these are all new levels and they're pretty awesome. The third level (the motorbike riding one) isn't publicly available yet but the dev was kind enough to let me cover it. That level is still a WIP so there's some placeholder art (especially during the giant mech-beast boss fight), but it's very cool. :)
Also, it may not be apparent, but if you don't punch the cars before they stop, then enemies get out of them and attack you. So not only does punching cars look badass, but it gives you a tactical advantage too. :)
@@WeirdCon Yeah I really loved seeing the placeholder animation! It would be nice if games had an option to allow you to see stuff like that sometimes. It gives a nice insight into the game's development.
Some of the effects remind me the cool versions of the Midnight Animal demo (ie. the ones with UNLEASH THE POWER, PRESS R TO RETHINK YOUR LIFE CHOICES, and teleporting)
@@dyingstar24 the focus of the franchise was gameplay over story, they can always make more games without worrying about connecting the plot to the previous games
@@dyingstar24 I said one thing and you responded with something that doesn't contradict my previous comment, the gameplay is the focus and what made the games sell so much, not the plot. If they released a 3rd game with a bunch of fun levels and no story it would still sell really well because that's what people looking for in this franchise, fast paced brutal action fun, allied with great soundtrack and good looking 80's style visuals. Connecting a 3rd game to the previous games' story should be the least of their concerns when what made the games so successful was the other aspects of them.
@@rafaelbrito9519 then it's not HOTLINE Miami anymore. There was a majority focus on gameplay, yes, but the story was just as important because the game had a core message about the sensationalizing of violence. Even the first game had a centralized plot surrounding 50 blessings and the mystery of the phone calls. Hell the first game even had a secret ending! If you take the story out of the equation than it's not hotline Miami 3, it's "game that should really just be extra levels dlc for the hotline Miami collection because there's no plot"
The "City Of Wolves" part reminds me of the upcoming Fatal Fury game. If you have no clue, the latter is called "Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves". Except this game features the wolves we hunt, where the other game is a fighting game.
An absolute purchase from me, that was incredibly bad-ass and stylish. I wish the cars you punch would flip over you like the first one does in the opening scripted sequence of the tutorial (instead of just stopping in place), but whatever, my criticisms are small. Awesom thi.
Similarities with the Miami Hotline Miami, but the visuals here are more pleasant, there are more details. Yes, and the similarity is only in terms of mechanics and one blow leads to death. The music is more lo-fi. It's a pity that the levels are too short judging by the excerpts.Longer duration is not enough. I like it and the setting looks interesting. Judging by some points, not all sprites are drawn and not all models are worked out.
This is probably the closest game to HL:M in terms of aesthetic, but so far I haven't seen a truly faithful spiritual successor. This game for example isn't faat enough and doesn't look lethal enough either.
I'd say the character movement is a little slower in Kusan, but the actual gameplay is faster. Hotline generally saw you moving though buildings and stealthily taking down one or two enemies at a time. This throws a lot more at you and gives you more options to deal with them.
the music being the same in that game rn now that I'm hearing ain't just a game worth getting but playing some hotline miami music from spotify and mute the music in the game worth getting to fix my beef with that ugly as 2024 music.
It's laughably reductive and unimaginative to label this as a "shameless ripoff". There's a lot of new stuff going on here. If anything it's a evolution of the genre. You seem like someone who can't comprehend the complexities of that though.
@@MoogMonster554 It's absolutely shameless. It does almost nothing new unless you count the motorcycle section. It should have done more to create it's own identity.
@MraaaAccount stardew valley and undertale and harvest moon don't play anything like earthbound. they all have large differences in gameplay. earthbound doesn't even have an active battle system, it's turn-based. bad bad bad comparisons. nowhere near the almost identical loop that this game shares with h:m I didnt say anything about wanting hotline miami to have a sequel. it already does, it's called hotline miami 2. i'm not really interested in a third, I prefer finding new games rather than just replaying the same format over and over again. I don’t mind placeholder stuff being in early builds because it gives you a glimpse of the creative process that you don’t normally get to see
@@WeirdCon Yeah I really loved seeing the placeholder animation! It would be nice if games had an option to allow you to see stuff like that sometimes. It gives a nice insight into the game's development.
This is beyond a retro style game, this is a playable work of art.
Hotline Miami's echo continues to reverberate throughout the indie scene. And I am perfectly fine with that.
they drop a whole-ass armored core on you and the first thing you get to do is parry it.

Looks like a cool, simple, mechanically satisfying game
