Coney Island never gets old! I've visited AstroLand AKA: Luna Park since 1974. We'd arrive early morning, my dad would crab fish on the pier ( the original one), my mom, my sister and I would stay in the beach, and come nightfall we'd ride at AstroLand. As a teenager I spent many a Fourth of July with my friends at Coney Island. As an adult I take my kids there and they love it as much as Disney World.
Coney Island is a great amusement park this year there adding for new rides and blocking off the streets from cars and will be seating areas and big entrances!
Before the big fire in the early 60's, all those apartment buildings in the distance were once other sections of CONEY ISLAND, such as Dreamland, Stepplechase Park, Denny's World and Astroland. Now its just one section, Luna Park.
Well I remember, because my parents took me there in 61 and 62 before the big fire in 63. Too bad they never rebuilt those other sections again after the fire instead of apartment buildings.
Well if your apartment building was 4 miles away from Coney Island, then it certainly wasn't once land where sections of the park burned down at. Before the fire there were no apartment buildings around Luna Park, because they all consisted of Astroland, Dreamland, Denny's World and Steeplechase Park.
Oh, I see. So you live 4 miles away from Coney Island. Just like I live 4 miles from Rye Playland, which I think is a little bigger with its own Kiddyland having about 20 rides. The adult park is probably the same size as Luna Park having like 25 rides. Playland also has a huge lake where a cruise boat sails around it like a safari Adventure. If you subscribe to my You Tube channel you can see all my Rye Playland videos.
You could by buying the luna card, each big ride is $8 and kiddies one $4, if u just want to go on 2 rides put $16 in the luna card and you're good. But this is only one side of the park, the other side aka scream zone has the even bigger rides that cost 8-12 dollars, scream zone has thunderbolt, steeplechase, soaring eagle etc...
A great place for a growing child and those who refuse to grow up. I really miss it. I have not been there for over twenty years.

Can you pay per ride at luna park rather than paying $62?
Probably not.
