I used to work at a warming shelter in a smaller city in wisconsin…… they literally had to arrest people when it was -40 outside because they refused to go to a shelter or inside…. they opened up soooo many places to give them options on places to go to keep them safe and they REFUSED they had to ARREST them to literally save their lives….. many of the people I worked with had full time jobs they weren’t on drugs they chose to be homeless they would come and eat and leave ….. some would come in after work eat sleep and leave…. Many choose to be homeless….a lot was drug use a lot was mental health issues but many were offered housing especially those with full time jobs…. Here they also pretty much have rented out whole hotels to give the homeless a place to stay….. they trashed it the cops were called numerous times the city had a an agreement with the hotel but they wore out their welcome…. So understand and I’m not saying this is everyone or everywhere but understand there’s a lot of help out there but many don’t take it there’s a few that do get help and get off the streets but many don’t want to many prefer it many it’s all they know….. many take the help and bite the hand that feeds them to the point nobody wants to feed them anymore…. It’s more complicated than that unfortunately it’s not as cut and dry as people may think…. There’s truly only so much that can be done…. You can’t help someone who doesn’t want to help themselves…. Give a man a fish he’ll eat for a day give a man a fishing pole and teach him how to fish he’ll never starve…..
I pray that those who truly want and need help get their prayers answered that I do hope…..for a long time it pulled at my heart strings until I truly worked with them and realized the reality of the situation I too felt the way you did… seeing these videos still breaks my heart I want them to want better for themselves but that’s up to them until they do that we caring humans can’t help so we sit and we wait until they do

If you have enough money to go to a game, or concert or even put gas in your car for the holidays, you have enough to drop off a blanket. Or a coat and a pair of shoes. They don't care if it's used. I used to work at a warming shelter in a smaller city in wisconsin…… they literally had to arrest people when it was -40 outside because they refused to go to a shelter or inside…. they opened up soooo many places to give them options on places to go to keep them safe and they REFUSED they had to ARREST them to literally save their lives….. many of the people I worked with had full time jobs they weren’t on drugs they chose to be homeless they would come and eat and leave ….. some would come in after work eat sleep and leave…. Many choose to be homeless….a lot was drug use a lot was mental health issues but many were offered housing especially those with full time jobs…. Here they also pretty much have rented out whole hotels to give the homeless a place to stay….. they trashed it the cops were called numerous times the city had a an agreement with the hotel but they wore out their welcome…. So understand and I’m not saying this is everyone or everywhere but understand there’s a lot of help out there but many don’t take it there’s a few that do get help and get off the streets but many don’t want to many prefer it many it’s all they know….. many take the help and bite the hand that feeds them to the point nobody wants to feed them anymore…. It’s more complicated than that unfortunately it’s not as cut and dry as people may think…. There’s truly only so much that can be done…. You can’t help someone who doesn’t want to help themselves…. Give a man a fish he’ll eat for a day give a man a fishing pole and teach him how to fish he’ll never starve…..
I pray that those who truly want and need help get their prayers answered that I do hope…..for a long time it pulled at my heart strings until I truly worked with them and realized the reality of the situation I too felt the way you did… seeing these videos still breaks my heart I want them to want better for themselves but that’s up to them until they do that we caring humans can’t help so we sit and we wait until they do
