I remember a similar gearbox in the 1970s Renault transit busses, used up to the year 2000 in Paris by RATP. Sort of like "semiautomatic" gearboxes with a so-called H-pattern where the driver has to allow for a two second pause between gears.
we have these from london here in plymouth from go ahead so was originally 2 door spec now converted to 1 door, there quite interesting, was on it with a driver who used the gears manually while driving which does give out some interesting noise. never knew these existed
i'd love to see these AMTs in my area, where they are abused, hauled up hills, entered into service on limp mode on hilly routes and in general on the verge of breaking down... that would be interesting :P soo glad that the E200s in my area are Allison 2100s :) even if they are 4 speed only
This so crazy! I have never ever seen a bus like this in germany or any other country i have been ✌️ But nice Sound ✌️ And this is really no hate but I personally think that we are building much better and luxury city busses and coaches 🤔😉✌️ Thx and again, its a really nice video
English Busses are so weird... Apart from the obvious driver-sitting-on-the-wrong-side issue, they all seem to be from brands which don't exist here in Germany (Alexander Dennis (wtf even is that name lol), Wrightbus, Optare, ...), most of them only have one door at the front, and pretty much all I've seen have that hideous interior which seems to be carved out of a single block of cheap blue plastic. Here in Germany, we mostly have Mercedes-Benz, MAN (as well as their subsidiaries Setra and Neoplan) and Solaris, at least in Munich... There are quite a lot of other brands around as well though, like Van Hool, VDL, Iveco, Scania, Volvo etc. I actually have a bus spotting account on Instagram, @bus.spotting.munich, in case anyone is interested in proper busses 😂 Very nice explanation of the different gearboxes though - we pretty much only have ZF and Voith here, as they are both German companies 😅
Fortnite is super addictive maybe go and have some fun maybe bus spotting, plane spotting or just do something else than playing fortnite. By the way I tried it it is the crappiest game I played in my entire life

amiausUSA You talking about the Renault SC10 buses

Nice.☺
Edit: I prefer the Allison gearbox on these rather than the single clutch i-Shift gearboxes on these.
abellio ones are knackered
This driver is determined to be on time. Haha 2:11 the driver has their foot on the gas before the doors even begin to close!
Nice catch, is this the only bus with single clutch or does the whole batch on 162 have it?
There are a few others with single clutch and ive seen them run on 162, 354, 352 and some other routes

@NIR_Enthusiast _ of course, a new law says that new passenger busses exept of coaches have to be with a low floor, called "Niederflur - Fahrzeug"
Btw that is ot what we call the country germany
Great video.
Some very high revs don't you think
It seems to me like normal revs for full power gear shifts.
@@benolifts so is there only one gear
There is probably 6 gears, or maybe 8
Beno lifts can you do a tour of the lifts on the Tyne and wear metro
Sounds a bit like a N230UD
fast acceleration. engine is loud.
Sounds like a manual
Must be a lot more work for the driver I would have thought. Definitely a backwards step in passenger comfort too. Progress eh 🤔

Maybe Germans care about peasants more than the English?
Here in Jakarta we have both Japanese and European (with local bodies of course)
And some built up Chinese bendies
They are British bus company's. Voith is an offense to the gearbox world, terrible.
@@adamholmes91 Voith is the best gearbox ever invented.
@@benolifts As a bus driver I strongly disagree
First
Stagecoach
Arriva
Abellio
