Freaking fantastic drumming dude, any chance to could share on how you practice to keep and improve your sticking speed??? Maybe any exercises you do, and/or warm-ups, etc. ? Thanks man, and God Bless.

Hey, so far I have never thought about doing a video on hand technique. I don't know if there is a lot of technique involved in mine and if so, it is my personal one. I believe that hand technique is a very personal thing overall, as I see no such "meta" in it. there is only some different grips and then there is finger technique. I use a combination of wrists and fingers.

I guess I asked the wrong question Bram. I should have asked, how do you work on your hand speed and what did and do you do to get to the speed you are at now, and how do you keep that speed maintained, and what warm up exercised do you do (if you do any, most all drummers do?) before you start playing? Oh, Bram, thanks very much for answering my questions and so quickly as well. You're an awesome drummer my friend. I would know, I have been drumming for over 40 yrs now, with a 6 yr break due to illnesses. Started drumming again in 2006 and I had to start all over again because I lost most of my drumming ability. It was a drug induced stroke, but I have been clean now since 2002. Never say die eh? 20 of those yrs were semi-pro and professionally. Thanks again Bram and God Bless to you and your family. :)

Cal Talbot Thanks a lot my brother, I feel you! I commonly start by playing along the metronome and improvising until my arms are warmed up. This can be within minutes in summer, but also 30-45 minutes on a cold winter day. From there I can just do whatever I want. My technique is a crossover of wrists and fingers as I mensioned. I got into finger technique rather quickly but somehow formed a hybrid technique using something in between. the stick is balancing on my thumb and pointing finger. you can see the rest of my grip in the video :)) Take care!

Bram Trommelen Thanks Bram, you take care of yourself too. Stay loose and happy drumming.
