Note: two other bosses can spawn besides Urzok in different locations. Driviks is a Taken Fallen that spawns in a ravine near the portal spawn, Ta'aurc spawns under the roots.

Would have been such a beautiful game if quests stayed at the level they were implemented at... ah.. all the cake walks for easy transmog and OP gear... I guess too many cake walks, but one can dream. (especially after wiping over and over again on this quest, until 3rd mob room got me with time end... and when I got someone to help me.. the damn portal didn't spawn.. so.. no quest)

@@Benjiizus I heard there's been an update and you can get Whisper quest from the gambit vendor... maybe now that I did the quests after the switch to Steam, I will be able to get it? Dunno... if just opening the portal to the quest was more consistent, I'd ask for help on Discord servers for Destiny 2 (people constantly ask for help on heroic quest for the... catalyst)... but then we have days like those ten hours ago and when I get help, the bloody portal doesn't open.
Yeah, I'd expect with anyone to help I'd have it done. I did one try to figure out the jumps (actually did way better than many months ago when I tried before, then I just kept missing the jumps and I think when I finally found the mob rooms, I found out I'm way undergeared.. because the quest scales to current max light level), and on the second I went almost perfectly through the jumps.. but yeah, I died.. a lot.
I did it solo.
Guys there's a grass room skip! As soon as you get in the big room, turn around to face the light and the ramp that you came in on and slide in the shadows. Its 2 minutes save! Spread the word!

This is the most excited I've been for Destiny in a long time. As soon as I saw that post about the Io lost sector i LFG'd some people and we checked it out. We ended up playing for like 5 hours just trying to do this mission. I was in awe of how much effort went into this mission. If only we could have something this exciting every few months.
Every few months? How about every month or every other week? The exciting thing we get every few months right now is updates and DLCs.

Love how they brought back D1 bosses like Driviks, Urzok and Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defences, take this beast out, and break their grip of Freehold.

Take the short cut and skip the Green Room. As you enter turn immediately right and go under the rock. Cuts at least 2 minutes off and a lot easier folks.

Idk how warlocks are having a hard time. Use strafe glide and you can skip almost every part of the jumping sections. The hard part is the final room with all the knights spamming the blinding darkness blast

Yakin the Noodest Take into account that the Black Spindle from D1 would be kinda pointless since lunafaction+rift is just a better version of what the weapon offered, even the offensive barricade would make DARCI better than this. IMO this was the only way they could have brought it back if you ask me, being an opponent to the other 2 exotic snipers and the legendary Ikelos sniper. Of course, I also believe that it will stay in the heavy slot like Acrius once Forsaken drops, due to the potential of infinite ammo and a great punch.

D. Hunter my clan got mad at me for a stupid reason so they ditched to go do spire. When they finished I flexed hard with my whisper, btw they’re still trying to get it
The first part about Urzok in the public event is incorrect, you're guaranteed a boss spawn but 1 of the 3 bosses from the end of the mission will spawn around The Lost Oasis in different locations. Urzok is the most visible at the cliffside, but one can also spawn in the rock canyon west of Urzok, and another in a canyon at the southern end of the map (by the Injection Rig PE)
This has been the most exciting thing I've experienced since I started playing Destiny. I didn't play D1 until earlier this year when my clan went back with me to guide me through the story/raids so I missed out on all the cool stuff that went on in that games lifespan.
Watched about 3 different videos on the same topic and you gave me sooo much more information. Thank you, Datto, it’s the reason I subscribed so long ago.
Oh the good old days of grinding out this mission and carrying people from my clan for the OP exotic sniper that basically has infinite ammo until bungie decided to nerf it into oblivion

It’s so weird coming back 5 years later to get a refresh on mechanics and seeing snipers and shotguns on the heavy slot. Also not having any healing grenades or scorch damage. Very nostalgic but definitely don’t miss it.

The Law and outbreak prime + touch of malice. I love these challenging exotic quests. Unlike worldine zero or sleeper in d2 lmao
The Law it might be in the game, there is a portal in this mission where you can see the VoG raid from d1 and if you stand in the plate with the portal it closes, but it will spawn oracles depending on how many Hidden Chests you find, people are trying to solve it but it might be the 7th chest

A Praetorian I liked world line zero. However, I did that on my own, so there was more discovery. Sleeper was dumb.

Just got it myself and if my testing was consistent and good enough the damage of this rifle in 1 shot is almost double the damage of the ikelos which btw (if im right) is the same as darci, and this is without the masterwork if its like box breathing is a 50% damage buff so ya the damage on this rifle is beyond god like. Only thing i don't like is the shot sound has no kick to it lol
Stuff like this is what I've always wanted Destiny to be/return to: a mid and end-game filled with missions where its not as large scale or as difficult as a raid but are still hard enough to require a little bit of pre-planning, comms, skill and a smudge of luck. Like you said in the video it gives me VOG vibes and I'm so happy to feel those feels again. Frankly, this mission, from what's around at the moment is the only thing other than nightfalls that isn't ridiculously complicated/difficult like the raid and the lairs and not super casual and unrewarding like the regular game and crucible. Nice to see something in D2 finally give us a FUN challenge.
Finally something with a little bit more difficulty to it!! These are the kinda exotic quests D2 NEEDS desperately. I myself haven’t gotten it but I INTEND to get it.
I don’t play D2 anymore but I’m still drawn to your guides on the game. Maybe it’s nostalgia. Maybe it’s wishing I still had the passion to jump in and play. Anyways enjoyed the vid, keep em coming datto

Getting this took me six tries, one of wich was with one friend, the other was with two.
Got it last night with 10 seconds left.
I would never have gotten this if it wasn't for the shortcuts and speedrunning guides i've been watching after atempt 1 and 2.
Getting it was really gratifying!
There's really nothing else to do in destiny forsaken than to gather more triumph score and hunt old exotics.
my fireteam literally finished the mission with 0 seconds left on the clock. got the weapon, but didn't unlock the heroic version. hopefully this wasn't a 24 hour availability lol.
When in yhe rooms with the holes you jump through on sides of walls just go yo right and go all the down last one it will take you straight to grass jump room.

Just a heads up, it doesn't have to be that exact public event. As long as the public event is in the Lost Oasis, you can kill the boss. He spawns in one of 3 different areas. Just got my Whisper of the Worm over the weekend. Good luck.

There is a knight, a captain and a centurion when the event starts. It can be 1 of 3 spawn locations to get the portal. It's not just the one guy.
All the parkour and vex architecture brings me back to year one glitching into the vault of glass to explore it

You when you lost comms it kinda added to the whole eerie vibe that place was giving off. Like the timing was pretty good
@Datto; there's a shortcut after the portal section. Once in that room; you go to the rocks near the entrance you came in from. There is a hole in the shadows you can take which will cut out the rest of the jumping parts and take you to the ledge leading to the door that leads to the Taken enemies!
This quest actually isn't really hard. The only really annoying thing about it is waiting for the Taken Blights. I was able to get the jumping puzzle down to about 4 minutes and made it to the boss room with my fireteam at around 13:30 minutes left. I wouldn't use Sleeper. We had a Titan with Polaris Lance and a linear fusion rifle. An Arcstrider with Polaris Lance and EP shotgun (void) and an Arcstrider with the Ikelos SMG and Tractor Cannon. We completed with 2 minutes left, although we took our time, probably could have completed with around 5 or 6 minute left.

The trigger for more bosses is not the blights but Boss damage and is recommended to take the three blights if possible Left Middle and right because they block a big part of the enemy walking path, Killing the fallen captain should be top priority while staying on the back room on a safe ledge while you shoot them my recommendation for load out is EP sniper, Polaris lance and hand cannon

Got mine today, it's a ton of fun to go for and it's actually somewhat of a challenge. Well done Bungie, it's good to see the classic Black Hammer back for the third time, but better!
So, this is now the best weapon in the game for stationary boss damage, raids specifically. Great. With all of my friends gone, clans being dead, and LFG being a 50/50 shot of finding someone who's even played the game before, I don't think I'll ever get this done. I like how they actually give us a mission that feels like an exotic quest, something to really hunt for, but as a result of nothing else in the game being this hard or rewarding this well, this is now the best gun in the game for raiders and boss killers, period. Imagine the damage of six high impact sniper rifles with essentially infinite ammo, all benefiting from the masterwork perk. Every final boss in the raids will go down like you're slicing through butter with a hot knife. As much as I loved the Black Hammer's reign of terror in Destiny 1, I was ultimately glad it was nerfed. Now, they're bringing it back and it's better than ever, and only the best players with teams are going to be able to get it. I know that's a good thing, but it's not when nothing else in the game compares to it. Keep doing things like this with a bit more variety, and this can become one hell of a game again.
Jonathan Parker i bet you will be able to solo it when you get 600 light level (if you buy the dlc ^^)

@Shirley Timple He has a point though, the best players will get it with their friends or the first few no lifers that get to max light, then only do raids with people that have the weapon or max light, and max light will be a nigh impossible to achieve without doing a raid. There are ways to break the cycle but that will likely require as many hours on an lfg that it should take to beat the raid.

Quick note there's a quick 2 to 3 minute time save in the big open room were you scale the mossy walls. As soon as you enter the room look to your right and there's a lamp. If you go behind the lamp into the corner there's a shortcut that skips that entire room.
