- Reese Witherspoon nails her Nicole Kidman impression in a sneak peek at 'AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Nicole Kidman,' airing June 17 on TNT. While honoring her 'Big Little Lies' co-star, Reese reenacts one of their frequent conversations in the Oscar winner's Australian accent.
Nicole deserves this award she earned it!! She is one of my favorite female actors she really envelopes you into the story and makes the character believable. I love her acting and I always thought she was so beautiful still is too!!
People bitching that Reese can’t do an Aussie accent. So serious, she’s parodying her friend for a bit of fun, she’s not trying to win an Oscar. Loosen up people.

I remember Nicole Kidman in 1983 BMX Bandits and she was going to be a huge star and she was then and she still is now. Reese Witherspoons Nicole Kidman impression is so spot on. I was always a fan of Nicole Kidman. Both are oscar winners. Reese Witherspoon and Nicole.

Nicole's accent is a weird fusion of a few accents, she doesn't sound Australian and some of her words sound like she is trying to sound Aussie but she doesn't. So Reece had no chance, but she did pretty well considering who she was impersonating - ie NOT AN AUSSIE ACCENT to start off with.
So happy for her! And so excited for a 3RD SEASON!!!!

As a Canadian who's lived in Australia for 50 years it's definitely not an Aussie accent - more a bastardised English accent. Aussie accents are almost impossible to mimic.
Because I've lived here so long I'd get people on the fone saying to me - drop that foney American accent because I'm hybridised Australian and Canadian accent.

I don't agree that u have to watch movies in the cinema to enjoy movies. We all have bigger TVs in our homes these days that offer great picture quality and sound quality.
It's also a lot cheaper for families to pay for streaming services. A family of 4 can get 6 months of Netflix for the same cost of 1 movie in a cinema.
We all know Nicole is wealthy, but most families are struggling with the cost of living.
Food, clothing, education, health, and other costs come first. By the time all that is paid for, there's not much money left over for most families.
Most families can't even afford heating in winter or cooling in summer.
These filthy rich Hollywood stars have no idea how the other half live, sigh.

Aussie do have a similar accent to british. Nicole doesn't have a strong Australian accent and its kinda soft which can be confused for a British one.
@@1988vikablesorry but her accent can't be confused for a British one. As an Aussie there is a discernible difference between Aussie and British accents. Even hers. Most Americans end up being too British when they attempt an Aussie accent.
@@1988vikable No Australians actually don't. But Nicole has not got a complete typical Australian accent - it is also laced with slight hints of a British accent (her choice I think).
Why do people like finding holes in everything? She sounded close enough to Nicole. It's obviously not going to be perfect. Besides, it's not like Nicole has a particularly strong Australian accent either.

Australian accents do have what we call in America an English twang and to the untrained ear can sound English especially if its not a strong Australian accent and Nicole does not have a strong Australian accent. So Resse's accent isn't far off.

@@jayjae21jj I don't think it's a tired read. I get that Hollywood stars feel a lot of pressure to align with specific limiting beauty standards. But it is disappointing to see every single time when they give in to the pressure and let some hack demolish their features. It also sets a terrible example for everybody else and perpetuates absurd standards throughout society. You're human, you age, just go with it and celebrate it as much as you can, for the love of god. The irony is that the more you succumb to the pressure and indulge in surgeries and fillers, the more laser-focused attention you are inevitably drawing to your appearance. All that being said, I think she's a fantastic actress and a fabulous person.
