I was thinking about this, would be cool if there were either screw bosses in the back on the bottom for carpentry screws to screw down to a shelf or plank; or holes on the bottom for using bolts instead
I think it's a good idea to simplify and move the mail call videos to the second channel. As much as I enjoy them it seems to me at least, that they really have become the main content on your channel over the last year or so. I much prefer watching you work on the items than just unboxing them. :)
@@lauram5905 Thank you for your kind words and support of the paint job. It seemed to be a mixed bag of people either liking it or hating it. At the end of the day Adrian loves it and that's what really matters.
You could always join the left and right sides of the stands with some thin plywood or other material to make the distance permanent and even more stable.
These have to be called Micro Mail Calls? Mini for the main channel, Micro for the 2nd. If you ever get sent an IBM 360, that would obviously be the Main Mail Call ;)
"I'll find a way to cover the top so dust can't get in the ports." -- Adrian Then a month later an inspired Stuart sends some contour-fitting C64 port covers for exactly that purpose. Honestly those are pretty cool stands and seem to do the job really well. And sounds like you'll be able to use them all quite nicely.
A couple of people have suggested supporting the stands with backing boards, I was going to suggest using drill rods. You can buy them at the hardware store in convenient sizes (e.g. 3/16" or 1/4"), cut to length with a cutoff tool, and then just drill holes and epoxy them in place. Light weight and unobtrusive.
Just my cranky old man observations but IMHO I think OLED screens should now be standard with the Gotek, because it's so much nicer to see what floppy image you have loaded. Also I don't know what 3D designer thought it was a good idea when designing the Gotek mount for the A500, A600 or A1200 to have the screen inside the case. It would get real tiring real fast to keep peering through the tiny floppy slot in the right side of the machine in order to see what's on the screen. Now back to my applesauce and evening newspaper. :P
I got sick of filament breaking when left in the 3D printer, so I now pull it out at the end of a print when it's still hot and it doesn't break anymore..
I love to see you sorting it all out Adrian. As a fellow content creator, I know how you feel when it comes to making video that you want to make versus making videos that you need to make.
Now I'm wishing these wall mounts existed for other computers, I'd love to also mount my CoCo 3, and maybe even a similar mount for my iBook etc. It looks like the most recent one also has the Fusion 360 file etc, I might have to take a hand at some remixes of this if someone doesn't beat me to it.
yeah it would be pretty great -- right now I'm standing stuff up against the wall on a shelf. It would be really cool to have something like that for my Atari 800XL and the Coco machines. Even an Apple IIc would be nice on the wall.
Truly, 3D printers are going to become aa much needed appliance. BTW Randy Rossi, the guy that's making the VIC-II KAwari, seems to be looking for beta testers for the finished product.
I don't know much about 3D printing but could someone design and print out dust covers for the openings and ports when a computer is on its stand on the vertical?
you could use some gorilla double stick tape to keep the commodore stands firmly planted, that will not fall down I almost guarantee, in fact you might have trouble unsticking them.
The 128 shoes should obviously be painted gold :) BTW you should check that foam often. Some of that Chinese stuff has residual chemicals and it may bind to the plastic of the case.
I do so love the C128 case! Art or no, it's a beautiful form factor! Adrian, do you know if anyone makes these cases, or something similar anymore? I would love to have one of that design for my Raspberry Pi 4! Thank you for the great vid as always, I like the new format - especially if it helps you get stuff out there in an easier fashion for you.
Stewart reminds me of a relative of mine. I've learned not to say 'I need to get x item' because I'll end up with 20 of them! It's not that I'm not grateful, I sincerely am, I just don't have the space!
Try to connect the to wall mounts with a pice of wood. Then i guess it would be easier to lift up and put the computer back and the stands will stay in the right position.
Would have been a lot longer LOL! (There was editing even in this video) Sometimes it just takes this much time to get through stuff when there is so much to look at ...
Those stands are quite neat, and I guess the Amiga 1200 ones would fit the 600 as I think the case profile is the same mostly, but having never had a 1200 I couldn't say for sure... :)
What you could do is move the unboxing portion of the mail call videos here, then as you get the time and related items together, you could put those into a mail call ‘review’ on the main channel?

For the case stands on a desk, use the wall-mount holes to attach a backer board to hold the pieces together at the right distance

I would connect the wall mounts together with either one or two wooden slats.
For the cartridge holder, now you need some white Vic 20 cartridge holders!

I designed and 3D-printed a C64-cartridge holder just a few days ago, funny coincidence.

Instead of the foam you could use a bit of velcro on the back to hold the computer in.
If you don't want to move the displayed computers on the shelves, you can use some clear double sided tape on the foots to keep the stands in place.

I strongly suspect that the two stiletto-heel shaped tabletop holders are for a Commodore 128 flat.
I suppose you (or Stewart) could print a third "high heel" for the A500 to provide support in the middle, just to be safe. Same for the C128.
