Nah. If it was just between Miller and Pettersson, we could chalk it up to a clash of personalities. But Miller had 2 incidents with Tocchet, and it's been suggested that Miller was asked to go on personal leave after the 2nd incident. Miller and Horvat also did not get along, which led to Horvat being traded. How many more beefs does Miller have to start before people realize that he is the problem?

The idea of this being on Pettersson is absolutely IDIOTIC. We have seen on camera JT Miller attack at least 4 of his teammates on ice DURING GAMES.
"He has to own his part of this".... What part? What has Pettersson done to Miller?
This is madness.. we have one player that has had issues ON EVERY TEAM HE HAS PLAYED ON WITH MULTIPLE PLAYERS. And yet here you are calling Pettersson the problem for Millers abusive and unprofessional behavior. Its honestly really sick. You are literally doing a character assassination on Pettersson.

The only thing I could say is on Petey is maybe he didn’t speak up sooner…maybe he internalized his feelings too much in the beginning because he didn’t want to complain. But it’s obvious that Miller is the toxic bully who can’t help himself.

Dallas has lost Tyler Seguin, Mason Marchment, Miro Heiskanen, and Roope Hintz for extended time this season, yet they are 5th or 6th in points. I have no idea what CJ is talking about with the criticism that Dallas hasn't hit its stride lol.

How is this at all about Pettersson when Miller's got a history of doing this to other players. Apparently he screamed at Lundqvist while in New York and was traded shortly (I think two days) thereafter. He was shipped out of Tampa and they went to three straight Cup finals. He banged his stick at Delia who hadn't been called to the bench by his coach. He was benched by his coach and promptly took a 1-month leave to cry about it. Even someone who says he likes Miller a lot, Brad Richardson, said he was too hard on Pettersson. All the signs (even Rutherford talking about something "going away but festering again") points to Miller being pathologically abusive.

Moving on from Petterson is a MASSIVE mnistake. You guys talk about cap going up all the time but failed to consider it in this situation.
Even if Petterson regresses and shakes out to be about a 72-85 point center:
1.) That's still great production. We've never dogpiled Kopitar or other elite centers when putting up 60ish point seasons.
2.) If the cap is really going up to what its projected to next season, then Pettersons current contract will be going market rate for an 80-ish point center anyway.
3.) He is NOT a generational talent. He's a star, sure. But I haven't seen anything from petterson to hold him to the same standard as players like Matthews, Draisaitl, Mcdavid, Etc.
My expectation from petterson is about 85 points. I feel confident with his current cap hit that he will absolutely return to at least that form.
Also, Miller is at the end of his career. He is 32. The average top end guy leaves the show around 37-38. He's got 1-2 years of elite production left and 2-4 of sub par production. You move Miller and keep Petterson and become bullish this offseason. What's the rush?

    1. If they trade one for a bad return, they’ve already made their excuse and set expectations low. Not my fault. It was them.
    2. If they don’t trade them and they continue to struggle, it’s on them, not the vision they had. We did our job and built this team, they’re just being babies.
    3. They keep both they turn it around and play well, (which let’s be clear, isn’t completely out of the cards either) it’s going to be, this interview ‘ignited the fire,’ and Jim Rutherford is seen as a motivational genius. (As well as the big adult man in the room.)

It's hard for me to put as much blame on Pettersson in this because we've already seen Miller fight with teammates on the ice and we've heard former teammates say that they didn't like playing with him. Of course, some love playing with him. Brock Boeser immediately comes to mind. If Pettersson "grew up," does that mean he confronts Miller? Does he have to match Miller's intensity? I don't feel like that would go well either lol.

Its ur fault we're in this situation because u refuse to do what we ask and flipped out on a senior player when pushed. So we're sending u to the the new Arizona Coyotes. Mind u they'd have to do this before July 1 to avoid his no move no trade thing but I think they will trade Elias before July.

I get both statement but last 6 seasons Miller has been a point per game player making $8M.
Since Petersson signed his big ticket he’s only accumulated 46 points (16G 30A) in 64 games. That’s not an $11.6M player. That’s maybe a $5-6M player. None of us are in the Lockeroom but it seems when we’ve seen from JT like last year with the stick banging to DeSmith to leave the net, he’s an ultra ultra competitive and may take it too a little too far. And when a player who’s not playing up to his contact and making more than him it might bother him that he’s not producing.

Two points: EP is clearly childish and can’t handle a dominate personality in the room like Miller. The weird thing is that Miller is arguably the same skill level as EP. He’s not some bum who is a lunch box type player on the third line who is trying to push a 100 point scorer. I think EP would have been moved already if he were making 9 but 11.5 is a big ask. You keep guys like Miller if you plan on winning.
Second point, the comparison between Toronto and an AVS team with a signed Rantanen doesn’t make a lot of sense. With the cap quickly approaching 90 mill and possibly 100 in two or three years, getting MacK, Rant and Makar signed for a combine 38-40 mill is a steal. Sure if you can get Necas signed long term for cheap it’s an OK deal but he’s gonna want 9.5 mill + long term, so the savings is that great just to give up a guy in Rant who is a top five offensive player in this league.
The Leafs gave away years of contending windows by bending over and giving all of their RFAs too much money. It’s comparable to Edmonton trading Draisaitl for someone like Tage Thompson because it saves them some space but what are you sacrificing? Amazing chemistry with your best player so that you can possibly add a depth piece in the future. Shortsighted.

    • @bentonszylowski1891

The issue with the miller-petey situation is age and contract. I think coaches prefer miller too, however, miller is a lot older. If you trade one of them that means they’re essential retooling for at least a year or two, by that time miller is 34 years old, declining and still making 8 mil. Then you’d probably still need a first line center. Keeping petey, he’d be in his prime and you’d be betting on him getting out of his slump.

Not appreciating a bully at work makes you "childish". Was Luke Shcenn childish when he almost fought Miller during a game?
