It’s just weird how both are self inserts without any creativity. They try to make it work with Ashley in the mix to somehow ship their ocs with Andrew but it doesn’t work and I can’t. Only ocs I like are Fankids of Ashley and Andrew
Hello! Mad Creator here~ Thanks for mentioning me, and well yes, I have stopped making my mod Hidden Devotion because my characters have a much deeper background that should be in a standalone game, however, I have decided to make a mod with an oc where I don't simply remove Ashley from the plot, but she has a background as well but less deep than the previous one. This new mod is called Mimi's coffin, and it is about Mia Albright, a policewoman who must take care of the siblings. There will be no romance (for the moment), it will deal with Mia's reality and her very eccentric behavior (which you will be able to notice as you play my mod) and how even being a so to speak pathetic character can make great changes in the lives of the characters of the original game, and that is, I do not feel that my character is just an oc that deliberately seeks to force a relationship with other characters as other mods do, Mia is more like a what would happen if someone else influenced the world of Tcoaal. And that, I hope you like it :3 (sorry for my english I speak spanish lolol)
Another point to add here: If you want your OC to be as canon compliant as possible. Then it's best wait until the game fully finishes. From the looks of it, it seems like Nemlei will add more flashbacks. By waiting until the game finishes, the fan content that can be created can take into account the new information present in episode 3 and 4. TLDR: Wait until the game is complete if you want your OC to be as canon compliant as possible. Thanks for reading!
im new to the game first time playing it i enjoy it ( still on ep 2 btw) honestly i made OC named Erena Raven. im still in process of the writing the first chapter of it and lore while brainstorming for her but honestly i would love to draw when i get the time to but i wouldn't go THAT far of making a whole ass mod about with her or her in the game even if i know how to code I'm still not taking it that far imo atleast but i agree with the points in this video. but honestly i just having fun creating my oc at the end of the day i tend to stay away from fandoms anyways
gues who back, back again, flop is back, tell a friend Oh, and happy late 19k, flop Having a part 1, 2, 3a, 3b, and 4 in a TCOAAL video is pretty creative
The only thing I don't understand is why there are people who keep saying that Nemlei romanticizes incest in this story, that doesn't make sense at any point.
Who cares about OCs??? Like seriously. I like the coffin of Andrew and Renee because it's a what if story with the mom. As far as i'm concerned that's the most "canon" a fanmade could get. Why do people actually care about a self insert oc character in a mof? Like really. This Might be a psyop.
There are some fun fan OCs in the fandom but their creators don't draw comics for them as much anymore (due to all this hiatus and barely any new official content). I've been in a few fandoms where some fan OCs got very popular and are loved by almost everyone, so I have some expectations for the Coffin fandom too, but guess I gotta wait a bit longer.
Great video, you have said shit as it should be said, in the first place, if you don't know how to make a good script and just do a self insert, delete the mod, or you could just get someone to write it for ya' (for example my schizo ahh), but yeah, ngl great video, I would had been more harsh if I were you, but well, not everyone has 0 fear of speaking what they think at full honesty, nice to hear from you against Flop.
These "OCs" give me a lot of fun for two things: their design always contrasts with the art style of the game and that most, if not almost all, have a relationship with Andrew, making Ashley go from being a background character, which I find makes you feel what Women's SelfInsert are
I can only say that wait until the mod is out and play it, TCOAAL mods are free so you can't really expect quality contents to fall from the sky (so far only the Renee mod delivered what they promised).
Hey hey Luna here! I just wanted to say I agree with everything you said in this video and I'll be honest I don't even know why I made Luna in tcoaal universe like she had a purpose to stop incest to some extent yes but I realized a month ago how useless it is Yes there are people who will support you and love your work but there are also people who won't. And about recent drama I won't say much I'm also at fault just as everyone else is but I need to make one thing clear I left the community so you can do whatever you want with my art or anything of that sort. I'll also say it here I did trace myself but I decided to move on and leave the random as it is not like anything is going to change anyway I feel like it's one of the best decision I made yet I also decided to actually release my own mod sometime in 2025 because I don't like it being an unfinished project with a lot of potential to just be scrapped like that. Until then I'll work on my own game! :3
Notice the same problem 🥲 I am a bit tired of it😞 I have an oc (not self insert) in the fandom with original art (not traced), a backstory, who is not a psycho and have an "sweet" relationship with Andrew... and around me there is just ppl who trace and steal others works (cuz apparently credit is too difficult for many of them) 😭
It's "No More Room In Hell" on Steam, game is free but very hard if you can't adapt to its realistically punishing gameplay and the jankiness of source engine. Joining public lobby is also quite annoying because some server has really long respawn time.
This is my criticism of the fan mods. Please be warned of Episode Three spoilers. The Renee Mod is so out of character, though. She's the one that did nothing for Leyley and made Andy take care of her, neglecting both of them. Renee, in canon, is a narcissist mother who cares for her image and doesn't take responsibility for her children. She dearly loves Mr.Graves, who is basically a depressed and submissive yes man to her and goes along with what she says or does. But suddenly Renee is a "great mom" for owing her mistakes, treating Andy caringly, and doing nothing to help Leyley? It's a complete 180 on their personalities. Andy wouldn't ever tell on Leyley-his biggest concern was being separated from her and facing the consequences. Before this point, they were already enmeshed in a codependent relationship, and he didn't care that Nina died. If Leyley was separated from her, he'd probably resent Renee, while I don't think Leyley would change at all, due to what happened to her and the circumstances, since her whole world is her brother. Andrew would not grow up as a better person. He'd probably still use his mask to appear normal and isolate himself from people. He wouldn't even get into a relationship with Julia in the first place because the only reason why Andrew asked her out in high school was because of the incest rumors. So if the incest rumors didn't exist, then Julia wouldn't approach him, and he'd treat her as someone that he saw passing by. His whole relationship with Julia is just him using her as a shield against the rumors and so he can put his twisted fantasy of fucking Ashley while he emotionally manipulates Julia. This is my criticism of The Coffin of Andy and Cali mod. I can’t believe people think this mod is “better than the original” and that they “fixed the game” just because there’s no incest, no Ashley, and because the OC is “better than the canon love interest (Ashley).” The mod has openly stated that they created this mod just to get rid of the incest. Yet Cali follows three fanart accounts that draws TCOAAL incest. I don't understand how even when the Cali OC just takes away the incest, Andrew and Ashley are still in a mutual, codependent, and toxic relationship; like, you cannot break that and still think that they'll pick other people over them. If they look into Nemlei’s previous games, Nemlei love writing about taboo subjects (necrophilia in No Good Noelle, selfcest in Better Half, toxic relationships in Divilethion, etc). They just look into the game as “incest is bad; Ashley is the evil abuser and groomed her brother into what he is, and innocent Andrew would have lived a normal life if it wasn’t for her, and he needs to get away from his manipulative sister,” when their parents fucked up by having them when they were in high school, neglecting both of them (more so Leyley), and Andy had to take care of his sister, like buying groceries and making food for her, and Leyley wanted friends but was betrayed and had insecurities while no one really taught her how to behave or that she doesn't give a fuck. Andy is the one that was sympathetic towards her, and he only wanted to make her happy, and he's the one that had incestuous feelings for his sister for years. He's much smarter and stronger, and he knows how to mask his emotions and use words carefully, etc. The siblings are codependent and enmeshed since they were children. Just because someone made a self-insert OC and took away the main aspect of the story, changing the character’s personality and making them out of character to fit their narrative, somehow makes it “better”? It’s a joke. TCOAAL is fun to psychoanalyze both characters and have theories of what will happen next with the cultist club or the Toxisoda company, but ultimately the main story is about these two toxic siblings surviving-of course, there will be dark tropes and themes of incest because Nemlei is no stranger to that kind of content. Andrew and Ashley are both flirty with each other (Ashley jokes about it while Andrew is the one who's more intimate with her); taking that part away is taking away Andrew's character and the reason why he's even with his sister. The mod doesn’t make sense because Andy and Leyley have been codependent since they were children. Andy’s job was taking care of his sister, filling her needs, and making her happy because she couldn’t get that from anyone else. Not her parents or fake friends. The reason why he asked Julia and Nina to be friends with her was because Friend B didn’t like her presence. It’s obvious how much both Julia and Nina like him based on the flashbacks and Progress Report videos. Even before locking Nina up, Andy’s main concern was them getting in trouble. The blackmail Leyley had was weak because, hypothetically speaking, even if she did tell anyone, it’s a lose-lose situation. She would lose her brother, who had filled her needs and taken the effort to care for her, and Andy was already possessive of her and didn’t want to be apart. Andy called out that her blackmail would have no effect because she’d get in trouble too, but Leyley didn’t care because no one likes her anyways. Andy would have still been by her side with or without blackmail. It was his idea to take the blood oath in the first place because it wasn’t good enough for Leyley, and he made an excuse that it was for her when, really, it was for him as a reassurance that their crimes weren’t out. He had the advantage. Andy was actually cunning when he took the blood oath. He told Leyley that she’ll be his priority and keep her company to keep up appearances-he never said that his sister will be his only priority, which was a loophole, and he told her that after they did the blood oath. Did Ashley manipulate or influence Andrew to lie to everyone around him, to use a mask in favor of being socially accepted, to use Julia and other people as tools, to not give a fuck about his kills and only care about getting caught, to fall in love with his sister, etc? No, because that’s his own actions that he did himself. No normal person does that. Andrew isn’t normal. The whole Graves family isn’t normal. Andrew’s character is him denying accountability for his actions and blaming Ashley as his scapegoat for his bad decisions (who calls him out on it), using a mask to be socially acceptable and be “normal” compared to his sister, using whatever tools he can to manipulate others, and compressing his incestuous feelings for Ashley, etc. From what I know of the mod, Cali was their childhood friend and is their neighbor and was somehow stuck in quarantine with Andrew by the ToxiSoda and Mrs.Graves, Cali and Andrew made out even though they’re not together. Andrew broke up with Julia for some reason; she is Cali’s friend. Cali and Andrew argue in a healthy(?) way about not killing people. Cali supposedly had an ex, and Ashley isn’t there until Chapter Two, etc… which makes no sense at all. Andrew would just treat Cali just like Julia: excuse Ashley's actions, picking Ashley over her, manipulate Cali and use her as an Ashley substitute. Not a single fan mentioned anything about the Cali mod other than "It's good because there's no incest". Not a specific scene they like, not a character trait of Cali beyond "not being related to Andrew" is highlight. Honestly, it's kinda sad that all that praise for the mod is over what it isn't, they only know TCOAAL as "the incest game" and the Cali mod as the "non-incest mod of the incest game" and it's fairly obvious that most of them don't plan on playing either of them.
Graveyard Shift - the modding team that made the Renee mod, explained in their latest devlog on why the mod was made and what they had to change in order to make the story between Andrew and Renee work out, you should give it a read: ruclips.net/user/postUgkx9u7KQnTkeaBAsdjROQGqX99tpCoqM_xw?si=j-QBnqmsSkMhEbGO Personally, I believe there are still a few things that need to be changed in TCOAAR ep 1, like making Andrew and Ashley's relationship from the start more separable than in the base game, because up to Nina's incident, Andrew was pretty much attached to Ashley and he was deep serious with taking care of her, making him snitch on her in the mod was undoubtedly imperfect, or bad timing at least, or they can make Renee more abusive and force Andrew to confess what he and Ashley had done. Renee in the mod should have some flashback scenes showing her care for Andrew, or at least pretending to care because just like Andrew, she wants to be appear normal and socially accepted too, she would care more about hiding his son and daughter's crime first, and then dealing with Ashley, and finally Andrew. In the base game there's only one CG of Ashley hugging Andrew after he locked Nina in the crate, which shows momentary happiness from Ashley's side, everything after that is paranoia, fear, blackmail, manipulation, the blood oath, toxic codependency,..etc.. But in the Renee mod there are CGs of Renee playfully teasing or reassuring Andrew while they are hiding Nina's corpse, Renee should have freaked out as much as Andrew and would want to dispose of the corpse as quickly as possible. But well, one of the main reasons why they made this mod is to make Andrew have mother complex, so can't blame them for adding some fanservices. Still, so far, only the Renee mod has tried to *change* the base story from the ground up and come up with its own different storyline. Graveyard Shift team consists of various writers, artists and coders, so technically they can change how the mod looks and how the story plays out when given enough time, if they happen to change or explain one of the things that I've listed above in TCOAAR ep 2, then that's more than enough to me, they may also explain why Andrew and Julia became a couple while Andrew didn't really have any reason to do so in this mod. After all it's still a fanmod (it's also free), so the point of it should be fans having fun with it instead of trying to prove it is better than the base game. Graveyard Shift respects the base game and its author, they may make some fanservice stuff but they do not try to make their mod appear "normal" or "better than original", only those who's still coping that Renee is innocent and Andrew is a victim of circumstance would say that, and there's the moralists who barely play or watch half of the playthrough of this fanmod would also say that, because to them this fanmod seems "wholesome and not incestuous", those people literally ask and beg Graveyard Shift to not add the incest scene in TCOAAR in ep 2 when they certainly know what's to come. About The Coffin of Andy and Cali, gotta say I agree with what you said but believe me, you don't need to go in depth with the analysis cuz those who like the Cali mod doesn't even play or watch it... Most of them don't see the beauty in the base game at all and they simply just prefer this mod because its author "had the courage to do it", not to mention the mod itself was rushed to release on Halloween so it's honestly not that good as those people are saying. However, since its author is going to remake ep 1 and also make ep 2 this year, we gotta see how that fanmod gonna grind and shine. Technically the biggest problem of these fanmods is that people try to compare it to the base game just to feel morally superior over one thing or another, while the quality and the impact of the base game are undeniably good to some extent.
Also please stop copying and paste your comment everywhere on my videos plz 😭I believe you'll get more people to notice if you post your analysis on the TCOAAL subreddit or discord server, try to make it as briefly as possible cuz some people will just spam a too long didn't read when it comes to serious discussion, but there are people who are genuinely interested in discussing those matters (not for me tho cuz I'm here to mostly make gameplay vids first, yapping videos later).
@@Flopamine My bad. I just wanted others to see my criticism of the mods while giving them my analysis of the game because some people don't read the comments on each videos. I tend to essay a lot when psychoanalyzing both the story and characters. 😅
There is a mod that removes the incest? That's like if somebody rewrote Lolita without pedophilia. Like the whole point of the game is to explore incest and why it happens?? If you remove it what's left? People who do that never liked the game in the first place and just want to feel morally superior When it comes to TCOAAR, I thought it was decent. Obviously it will never be as good as the original game, but considering it was a mod where they had to stick to original context they did a pretty good job. Besides, it was mostly made for fetish reasons so they knew the fans wouldn't mind a few plot holes
It's "No More Room In Hell" on Steam, game is free but very hard if you can't adapt to its realistically punishing gameplay and the jankiness of source engine. Joining public lobby is also quite annoying because some server has really long respawn time.
OCs are raterded. If you can draw and are passionate about TCOAAL - learn RPG Maker and make your own game! Cabin Fever (obviously a Coffin-inspired game) did it, quite successfully too. Expand the genre of coffin-like games! That would be awesome, unlike this cringey OC shit.
@@Cheplhere He is at the very least above average and I am not even an Andrew glazer or something. The OP was probably just seething if I had to guess.

Graveyard Shift - the modding team that made the Renee mod, explained in their latest devlog on why the mod was made and what they had to change in order to make the story between Andrew and Renee work out, you should give it a read: ruclips.net/user/postUgkx9u7KQnTkeaBAsdjROQGqX99tpCoqM_xw?si=j-QBnqmsSkMhEbGO
Personally, I believe there are still a few things that need to be changed in TCOAAR ep 1, like making Andrew and Ashley's relationship from the start more separable than in the base game, because up to Nina's incident, Andrew was pretty much attached to Ashley and he was deep serious with taking care of her, making him snitch on her in the mod was undoubtedly imperfect, or bad timing at least, or they can make Renee more abusive and force Andrew to confess what he and Ashley had done.
I read all that yapping🫶
There is a mod that removes the incest? That's like if somebody rewrote Lolita without pedophilia. Like the whole point of the game is to explore incest and why it happens?? If you remove it what's left? People who do that never liked the game in the first place and just want to feel morally superior
When it comes to TCOAAR, I thought it was decent. Obviously it will never be as good as the original game, but considering it was a mod where they had to stick to original context they did a pretty good job. Besides, it was mostly made for fetish reasons so they knew the fans wouldn't mind a few plot holes
Mind if i ask what's the name of the game in the background? It looks very good
It's "No More Room In Hell" on Steam, game is free but very hard if you can't adapt to its realistically punishing gameplay and the jankiness of source engine. Joining public lobby is also quite annoying because some server has really long respawn time.
Sorry, what's this movie name? 4:42

@Flopamine You're great
OCs are raterded. If you can draw and are passionate about TCOAAL - learn RPG Maker and make your own game! Cabin Fever (obviously a Coffin-inspired game) did it, quite successfully too. Expand the genre of coffin-like games! That would be awesome, unlike this cringey OC shit.
4:04 tf even mean Average?
@@Cheplhere
I didn't make that meme, and people's standards on beauty are different. You can just view it as someone saying Andrew is overrated.
@@Cheplhere He is at the very least above average and I am not even an Andrew glazer or something. The OP was probably just seething if I had to guess.
i know you probably don't give a shit 'bout this comment, buuut...
I have an oc that is actually interesting (i guess so)
sooo..ummm..
i will post smth on my channel with her soon so if you're interested then i'll let you know when it's done!
