    Those EOL resistors needs to go at the End Of the Line so that the panel can detect someone tampering with the cabling.

      joe72205 yep. The instructions on here defeat the added secururity of EOL completely! You would think the term " End of line " may have given them a clue. Makes me shudder to think that crap wiring is going onto a system that has monitoring. That install would never get a URN number in the UK!

    Ahh the ol' beginning of the line resistor😆

  • @DistinctiveTents

    They're called end of line (EOL) resistors, not in the can resistors. You might as well eliminate the resistors and program the zones as NC or NO. Resistors are supposed to go at the sensor/device/contact, not in the can (control panel)

      Where does the end of line (EOL) resistor go?
      The EOL resistor should always be installed at the last device and never inside the control panel. Placing resistors anywhere other than the end of line does nothing to supervise the wiring, which is the reason for using the resistors. The only exception to a resistor ever being in a panel is in a 4 wire with the resistor at the end of the return pair, in the panel. It supervises the entire cable, both pairs that way!

    I was an alarm installer and Honeywell was one of the company's I worked for.I'm a lover of hard wiring. I was the first to graduate before the rest of my class of all men,I'm female......My all tiime favourite is an Ademco panel. Coming from a family of 3 bros and my dad ALL of us were electric in our jobs.I learned young. Attractive tom boy lol.
    Nice vid

      Nice vid?The resistors are in the panel. This is a big no no!. Please tell me you don't put resistors in the panels on your installs.

    Does this panel have a tamper for the cover? It didn't look like it, which would make it easy for a burglar to destroy in seconds

    • @guesswhomartin9249
      @guesswhomartin9249 6 лет назад

      It doesn't come with a cover temper no. But it's always good to protect the alarm panel as well. Put a motion in the same room. Anybody tries to get to the panel, they have to cross the motion, and program dialer delay 0.

      Most panels residential usually does not and in a place (or should be) if someone gets to it without being detected they deserve to have at it :-)

    How would someone know which wire pairs belonged to a specific zone? How do the techs know where the wires go when there is just a big mass of wires poking through a hole in the wall?

    • @PeaceThroughDeceit
      @PeaceThroughDeceit 7 лет назад +2

      LockJawStudio Tone all the wires out. Slap on a multi-terrain and begin looking for the window or door that gives you tone. That's layman's terms.

    Problem 1: Why did you put the EOL resistor in the panel instead of the END OF LINE? (in the panel defeats the purpose of the EOL resistor)
    Problem 2: The transformer is internally fused, so the AC wires should be connected to the transformer and panel before plugging in the transformer in the 120VAC outlet, You missed the step of plugging in the transformer
    Problem 3: The battery MUST be connected after the transformer is plugged in!

    I’m renting a home and my son pushed a bunch of different buttons on the key pad and set the alarm off, which wouldn’t disarm so every time I we opened any door the alarm went off. In a panic I cut the wires in both keypad, but the alarm was still going off. I found the motherboard where all these wires are and unscrewed all of them and that worked. My question is who I do call to fix the keypad that I cut and does anyone know how much that would cost? Thank you in advance.

    EOL's Go to End Of Line, You Should Twist Strands, Larger Wire For Transformer is Better, Then You Can Hook To Ground, Dressing the Wires Can"t Hurt, It Will Work as Shown. Didn't Hear Mention Of Bell Resistor. In Programming, It may Have Ability To Select, EOL Or No EOLS, Eleminating the the Need for Way you Are Doing, Thing I see the Resistors on Board That ir Switches to in Programming.

    1.) Why are the EOL (End Of Loop) resistors located in the panel, instead of at the END OF LOOP? (in the panel defeats the purpose of the EOL resistor)
    2.) As I read the instructions:
    2a.) the transformer is internally fused, so the AC wires should be connected to the transformer and panel, before plugging the transformer into the 120VAC outlet. You missed the step of plugging in the transformer.
    2b.) the battery must be connected AFTER the AC transformer is plugged into the outlet.

    I have a battery for my panel and system but it won't power for some reason I charged it there is juice in it but it won't power it do I need a transformer or something

    • @guesswhomartin9249

      Don't know if you fixed your problem yet. If you're not getting power at your keypad yet. Un-do the battery, check your AC transformer ( 16.5 AC ), is the transformer any good ? Is the outlet live ? is the wire good ? The wire I recommend 18/2.
      If all this is good, your keypad may need to be addressed. I don't remember, the keypad address maybe at 16, or maybe it's 31.
      If still nothing, you may need to call Ademco Tech Support, Honeywell.

    • @mikeclarke3005
      @mikeclarke3005 4 года назад +1

      The Ademco panel will not power up if start only on battery, has to be powered from AC/Transformer first battery then is used as a backup only. these transformers can go bad internally, had a couple wire on transformer broke they are made to tight (took them apart to find out, also internal fuse in transformer that can blow non replaceable so need to check if getting 12 -14 Volts AC out of transformer

    • @PeaceThroughDeceit

      MICHAEL JOVELLANOS The only power going through that wire is power coming from the panel.

    Why are you teaching them to install the End-Of -Line (EOL) resistor in the panel, This provides NO wiring supervision. Example: If a wire to wire short develops on the field wiring of any zone wired this way, The panel will not respond to an intrusion, making the installer liable for any loss sustained, Insurance companies will destroy you in a courtroom for negligence. This is not wiring according to the manufacturers published instructions. I am very familiar with this control panel, Please learn to install properly before teaching others to do it the wrong way!

  • @DistinctiveTents
    @DistinctiveTents 6 лет назад +1

    NO NO NO! Resistors do not go in the panel! They go at the END OF THE LINE (at the sensor) Hence the name END OF LINE RESISTOR (EOL). If you're too lazy or unable to put the resistor at the end of the line at the sensor, then just program the zone as Normally open or closed, not EOL

    • @guesswhomartin9249
      @guesswhomartin9249 6 лет назад

      I dis-agree, why would you program the resisters out ? You're inviting trouble doing that.

    • @DistinctiveTents
      @DistinctiveTents 6 лет назад

      If you're not putting the resistors at the end of the line (at the device, not in the panel) then its essentially like not having them at all. Hence my comment.

    • @guesswhomartin9249
      @guesswhomartin9249 6 лет назад

      I see your point. But I still would not program them out.

    • @DistinctiveTents
      @DistinctiveTents 6 лет назад

      do you know how a resistor works in a burglar alarm when properly installed? Why would you not program them out if they are not used? The vista panel literally will show a zone as faulted if you don't have resistors installed but still have the zone programmed as EOL.

  • @guesswhomartin9249
    @guesswhomartin9249 6 лет назад +1

    Not looking at the wiring schematics, but looks like your alarm panel is incorrectly wired. Your resister should go on the zone ( really needs to be in the field, but inside the panel
    is ok too ) but keep the resister on the zone terminal and the return wire on the common terminal.
    On this panel AC wire doesn't have positive and negative. It's AC, It's Alternating Current.
    Only terminals 3,4,5 matter for power. 3,4,5 are DC.
    And why is he using this screw driver ? Use a real screw driver.
