They've played this song countless times at this point, but it wasn't in the official setlist scheduled for the night, and they didn't have an acoustic arrangement ready. The kid in front asked them to play it, and they did!
and to answer your question. Yes, all of the band members did have a child or children of their own when they performed this amazing song for that lucky little dude 😊🤘🏻🖤
The drummer of this live is actually their 3rd drummer after Jimmy's passing. This live is 2-3 years old and Jimmy passed away December 2009. Brooks (the drummer) became a band member since the release of their latest album (the stage) in 2016. They had Arin (previous drummer) for Hail to the king (2013) and Mike portnoy for Nightmare (2010). Mike didn't stay that much i think Arin joined the band in 2011. Also Jimmy had done some work for the Nightmare album before his death.
Matt just changed his singing technique from 2014. He uses his scream and distortion wisely and then he is aging till now, thats why his sounds more like breathy daddy voice as you can hear it now. If you want to react how amazing was matt's voice, do at 2011-2013 live.
I don't think Synyster had effects. I think it was just him singing falsetto. You're right about Shadows sounding different. They were playing in a different key, I think. That, and a lot of time has passed, so he had aged a bit and had some vocal problems sometime after this song's release. Btw, it's Zacky Vengeance. I couldn't forget it because of his Vengeance University t-shirts. My favorite part of the video is at 15:29 when Syn tells the kid, "No more fake tears." It cracks me up every time. Thanks for another great reaction. 🤘
Over the years his way of singing has changed, going in a way that I like. The best performance of this song in my opinion was in "Rock am ring 2014". In that year he didnt use the scraped voice so much, reaching the end of the song at really high notes where he transmitted the emotion in another way. I don't think you're going to react to this live version anymore but you could watch it for your own if you want.
@@chrismeadows4216 Yes, I was also referring to the atmosphere, the sunset sky, Matt's talk and how he sings it at the end. Probably if we only put the audio of Hellfest its better, but as an experience to see it seems better to me the Rock Am Ring in 2014 version.
@@marioperezgarcia7258 I love the visuals a ton. The thing Matt said about kicking over trash cans might be off putting to some people. I lean more towards the shadowed atmospheres. They're the two versions from that year that make that year a little better. That said, there's a performance of The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars from Rock Am Ring that is absolutely gorgeous.
Syn is considered one of the best guitarists of his generation, one of the most talented. He also sings very well, a facet that has always been used as backing vocals or in live performances, but now in the last album he has accompanied Matt on songs like Exist or on the cover "As Tears Go By", where he makes a very good vocal duet with Matt. He is a great musician. An inspiration.
I love the end solo by Syn, it’s so beautiful seeing this again. I recommend this and i love that he’s struggling, he is a human, but he’s doing all the mad stuff perfectly. Syn is so talented😍 I love this band❤️
So much feelings in Syn's solo, so beautiful. Agree with you, it is harder to get muscle support when you sit and sing. This show was when they where grammy nominated for "The Stage" album. I think you can see that Matt's screams are quite high up in his throat, above the vocal chords. I think his screams came from a lower place early years and that did some damage. If you watch an early "Remenissions" video, it hurts to see him sing. Also the fourth guy "Johnny Christ" 🙂 , he did a great colaboration pandemic cover from his house, if you search "Drinks with Johnny aces high". Then you will remember him in the future. 😉🙂🤟
Hi BED. The rawness of this adds to the intimacy. Poignantly, one of the guitar greats Eddie Van Halen passed away earlier. This song is a fitting epitaph :(
Synyster Gates is not only an exceptionally talented guitarist, but he's got a nice singing voice as well. In live performances he does many of the harmonies and I would say he can even hit higher notes than Matt. If you want to see Syn's take at vocals in the studio please check out "Paradise". It's a solo song composed by him in which he plays the guitar and does the vocals as well. It's here on YT and it also has the lyrics on video.
This show was about 7 years after the studio version was released. Nightmare came out in 2010 and this show was in 2017. At this point, everyone in the band besides Syn had kids. Zacky had 1, Matt had 2, Johnny had 1, and Brooks had 2. Since then, Syn and his wife Michelle have had 2 kids. Matt's voice might have been in a good place at this show. It's one of the best sounding from the era after The Stage, though he lost his voice a few months later at Hellfest because of a blood blister he got while he had the flu. Belting high notes like that is what he trained for more than anything, so I hope it didn't contribute.
Yeah. Good reaction. You really enjoyed that. I did too, but I could see a connection between you and the music. Personally Live performances have always seemed more real and less clinical to me. I reckon that's why they're so much more full of heart felt realism than studio recordings. Another job well done.
Watch the song ‘Roman Sky’ from the same live performance, they have strings in the background and also Syn’s dad (they call him Papa Gates) is in the background playing with the band. It’s a great performance

Better Every Day im really interactive because of my passion for Avenged Sevenfold. I always look for reactions to them because I like hearing people’s thoughts and see if I agree. They also played in my country before but it was like 6 months before I heard about them, I was disappointed that I missed them. But they will come back, that’s what Matt said.. fingers crossed with the new Album May I suggest for you to check out the band Our Last Night? They have dozens of metal covers to popular pop songs, but also, they had like 7-8 albums and EPs of original music. I love that band, they pretty much introduced me to heavier rock music. Their song ‘Same Old War’ is a good place to start :) Oh and just a random fact, I’m a drummer

Not to sound rude, but please know your facts before saying stuff. This was recorded in 2018 and Jimmy died in 2009 so this wasn't soon after he passed.

SYN'S VOICE IS SO BEAUTIFUL. ITS HIS REAL VOICE, AND THE BACK CHORUS ARE AMAZING

2020 he will back with the 2011- 2013 voice I guess, cause in the new song "Street spirit" his voice was way better than before

The description about their outfits was on point girl was hilarious 🤣🙌🏻
And the whole song was written by Syn, not just the solo but every part

The song is usually in standard, so it's the same tuning. D standard probably would have worked better for Matt's current range.

Hellfest is really the golden version. Rock Am Ring has wrong lyrics.

The 2010 version of The Kill, if you wanna know what I mean. Great sound, big pink mohawk, awesome light in the sky.

Sounds like Syn improvised that last solo on the spot because it's not like the original solo, he made it like an acoustic version of the solo.

This was about 7 years after the song was released but they didn't plan on performing it for the Grammy Museum
Syn voice was real..it is not an effect...his voice is beautiful
The guitar parts are always written by Syn and Zacky. Mostly Syn, as he jams around himself and come out with a masterpiece.
