The first yoyo I saw with one of those finger spin dimples was before the Skyva! Yoyojam came out with the Theory in 2013-2014 I believe? And that had a little dimple in the center of the side cap for finger spins. It wasn't anywhere near as good for it as the Skyva was, but it worked better than trying to land a hub spike on your fingertip haha
It's comes from the original butterfly yo-yo. I'm kind of surprised it took 7 years to develop the tapered design, without a shoulder. One would think once Jeff created the dimple in 2015, the design would've continued to advance almost immediately, as opposed to the 7years it eventually took. Goes to show there's almost always room for improvement. After all the original butterfly yo-yo came out in 1958, (design originated in 1878)no changes were made on the design until 2015!!
I have a waiteboo yoyo and I have no dimple in the center, instead, Its an outer-dimple, or a reverse dimple....I don't know if that's a part to play with it or if the company wants me to buy another yoyo because I cant do the DNA with the outer-dimple in it😢 and it's my first real yoyo and before that, I used plastic 10$ yoyo...I'm very sad because it cost 300$ Trinidad dollars.😢 I hope I can do the DNA with it. Edit: please respond to this comment because I'm worried if I can't do the DNA 😢
