It Is a major Trophy for the teams playing in the conference league Because if your are playing 3rd tier competition, that's your level period doesn't matter if you are Chelsea or olympiacos it's the biggest trophy currently you can win.
3tier until the semis where it is Europa League level.
Olympiakos has huge European football history since 1959 ...
And has a record until 29/5/24...
It was the team with the most European football matches ( 355) without winning a trophy 🏆...
Bro that’s an INSANE stat
@@TheGiveNGo Good morning my friend.
More statistics..
Olympiacos has met in the groups of the Champions League with Real Madrid 4 times and one with Barcelona ... Real Madrid has never beaten us at home, having one loss and 3 draws ...And with Barcelona we have one draw..
The one time we tied in the group with 12 points, Real Madrid was simply considered first with better scores among us...
5/11/1997 Olympiacos-Real Madrid 0-0
15/9/1999 Olympiacos-Real Madrid 3-3
6/12/2005 Olympiacos-Real Madrid 2-1
6/11/2007 Olympiacos-Real Madrid 0-0
31/10/2017 Olympiacos -Barchelona 0-0
Also, Olympiakos is the only team in Greece that has won almost all the big European clubs from the big 4 countries at least once..
e.g. from Great Britain he has won
Liverpool ..Arsenal Manchester United.. Aston Villa ..Tottenham Hotspur
From Spain : Real Madrid...Athletico Madrid..Balenthia...
From italy : Milan ..Juventus...latzio...Roma
From Germany:
19/10/2011 OLYMPIAKOS - Borussia Dortmund 3-1
12/18/2008 OLYMPIAKOS - Hertha Berlin 4-0
11/12/2007 OLYMPIAKOS - Werder Bremen 3-0
3/10/2007 Werder Bremen-Olympiakos 1-3
18/09/2002 OLYMPIACOS - Bayer Leverkusen 6-2 ( bigger win in CL for olympiakos)
We have never beaten Bayern Munich..
Good morning from Greece..Have a nice day
@@TheGiveNGo And one last thing that few in Europe know
Olympiacos is the largest sports organization in the world.
It maintains dozens of sports divisions in many team and individual sports, thousands of athletes and hundreds of trophies in Greece and dozens of European trophies ... for men and women..
Who knows that Olympiacos, for example, won the UEFA Youth League by beating Milan 3/0 this year?
do u confirm this aderfe? r u sure? that's huuuuge honestly
This is a huge moment for Greek football. Absolutely a major trophy.
People forget that these are often the Champions of other nations or at worst top 2-4 finishers. For teams not laced with endless blank oil cheques and a modest budget, this is huge. And yet, even within the Conference League being more balanced in theory, you still get David vs. Goliath matchups in terms of team value. Compare Olympiacos' squad value vs. Aston Villa, Fiorentina, and Fenerbahce, and the story tells itself...
Facts
Τέλειο όνομα αδερφέ 😂🔴⚪
El Kaabi owned this tournament🔥😳
This man is Ridiculous!
Oly deserved that title 100%. Congrats!
If you are European and not from Spain, or England, or Germany, or Italy, then YES it is a major trophy. And at the end of the day, it says "UEFA" Conference League on the title not "Jimmy's Pizzaria"
Jimmy’s pizzeria 😂😂😂 agree with your take
Even if you are from the big 5 leagues, it still is a major trophy... Go back and see what it meant for Mourinho and the city of Rome...
Ofc it's a major trophy! You think Jose Mourinho is stupid for celebrating it like crazy when he won it with Roma?
Definetly it's a major trophy for Olympiakos, but it's the same for all the teams, even from the major leagues. It's an UEFA competition, so the prestige for the winner and the finance income for the teams which participate, its similar of the Europa league and Champions league. We are very proud for our team. We hope in Europa league next season, to live again the same dream.
Last time a European trophy was won by a team that was not from england italy germany orspain was porto 2011 europa league
For us in Greece it meant the world. Also I wouldn't want the big5 teams to be excluded, stories like Roma or West ham really elevated the competition. Imagine if a French team wins it, it'll be the first European trophy for them after 33 years!
As for Olympiacos it was a rollercoaster of a season. We sucked heavily in the beginning of the season, but with the appointment of Mendelibar all changed. To get there we knocked out the best team in Hungary with 2 wins , we had the largest away remondada in UEFA history against Maccabi (best team in Israel) and then we beat Fenerbahce who had probably their best team ever 99pts in SuperLig filled with great players like Kadioglu and Tadic.
Then we beat Aston Villa a team that makes transfers worth 50m£ for a player while we can give no more than 5m€ 6-2 which was a huge underdog story.
Fiorentina in the final was the cherry on top.
If you look at Europa League winners run's 10+ years ago you wouldn't easily see harder paths than the one we had this year.
That said it's a major trophy for West Ham and of course for our club Olympiacos
It is a European trophy mates! A huge one for any team winning it (other than perhaps the top-10 European teams, such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City, Liverpool, etc.). Olympiacos played against Aston Villa, Fener, Maccabi. Perhaps, next year, Olympiacos might make it to the Europe League semi-finals.
As an olympiacos fan (maybe biased) i think its a semi important trophy because the past winners are all great teams from the top 5 leaugues and that will continue in the next years i am sure. To think that a team from Greece won i think its huge.
Nobody is talking of the way the referee 😅didn't give olympiacos a penalty for the hand connected in the second half,
We celebrated like never before. There were chants from the fans that we have been singing for decades, up to this day, that they say about winning a European title. Olympiakos has won 47 national league titles so we are kinda used to winning the league trophy. It finally happened for us, and I don't know if it will be possible for another Greek team to accomplish what Olympiakos did. So it's not only big, it's historic, legend tier i would say.
Surprising I Never Thought Greek Football will do any Better Than 2004 Eurocup Championship.
I Salute my Respect!!!
This isn’t better than 2004 euros bro
@@Amo_50 well it is ... UEFA Cup!!! Out of 167 Conference Participating Teams... Think about¿
Olympiacos the first ever club having won both the UEFA Youth League and a UEFA trophy in mens team the same year.
Just a reminder that it's really difficult for poorer countries to compete with the budgets of the big-5.
Yet Olympiacos made a huge step by winning this cup even against Aston Villa, Fiorentina, Fenerbahce etc. hope we see them winning even more major trophies
If you are from a country outside of big 4 (England, Spain,Italy, Germany) then its big big big trophy. Period.
The quality of any of these trophies depends on the quality of teams in each competition. Not of the year prior but of the current year. For example, I would argue that this year's Champion's league, while still better, was closer in quality to the Europa League than most other years. That could totally just be me, but my point is that a trophy derives its merit from the difficulty of competition. Not every iteration of the tournament is equal.
Agree 100%
very good analysis!! For olympiacos this trophy is huge , that final was considered the most important match in our soon to come 100 year old history as a club.
Since UEFA created the tournament, it runs all year long and it's directly linked to the upper tiers (through "relegation" from Europa League), it has to be considered a major trophy.
It's not like Interoto e.g. that was a preseason tournament that only lead to UEFA Cup.
Here is a couple of things that hopefully will answer your questions and one interesting point to add to this year’s Olympiacos achievement:
1) there were 3 European tournaments until 2000. Then UEFA had the idea to merge the 2 tournaments into 1 (UEFA league). The Conference league which was created 4 years ago , brings back that old shine of the third in order European cup that many teams can fight for and bring in some of the glory while writing their name to UEFA history books.
2) Olympiacos year until January was horrible. The administration had tried with 2 other coaches to save the season. Then they brought in Mendilibar. He picked up a team that 2 other coaches failed to do anything with it and in 4 months he gave them a European title.
People forget that it's been a really long time since a team that isn't an Italian, German, English or Spanish team won a European trophy (because lets be honest they are the big four)
You should mention the K-19 team of Olympiakos, winning UEFA champions league one month ago. Defeating 3-0 MILAN. They are doing things...
Pame re Thryle 🔴⚪️🇬🇷🔥
Nice analysis guys , unbiased . Greetings from an Olympiacos fan flying in the sky from happiness . Lets not forget the U19 team of Olympiacos won the UEFA Youth League 2024 .
Love the detailed commentary!
It's a major trophy definitely and the wild beauty of it lies as well on how the underdog won it 🎉
It is a major trophy because The Last Time A team outside the top 5 won a Continental trophy was 2010-11 season that Porto won and in that time Porto was a big club
One observation:
Except the big-5 countries (England-France-Gernany-Italy-Spain) Olympiacos won a Continental Title since 2011 (Porto).
This is a great achievement for the Greek football generally..... Panathinakos in 1971 was a Champions Championship finalist, which was the bigest achivement till today....Olympiacos became the first Greek who won a Continental Title!!! Cudos!
From a Panathinaikos fan!!!!
Medilibar will have a statue built at pireus
Its the best moment in Olympiacos history till now man. A team outside the top 5 leagues hasnt won a european trophy since Mourinho's Porto won the UCL. There is no way yall dont count that as a major trophy. Even if Olympiacos has huge european history it is the best moment in their history, definitely! And a reminder that UECL is the 3rd best club competition in the world...
big big big moment
its a Major trophy for all clubs (maybe not for real or barca and few more team) but tell me if any team enters a competition and has the possibility to win do you think they pass or say it easy not a big deal????? * Also olympiacos come from uefa europa league so basicaly from next year that this not gonna be allowed to swap tournaments yes it gonna be a 3rd rank competition.
100% percent major trophy. Just google the scenes after the match and you will understand guys... biggest night of 100years history
Most of the teams in the ECL will never come close to winning a CL .. meaning it is a major trophy for the majority of clubs competing . For clubs like Olympiacos the Europa league is probably the ultimate pinnacle
Guys, Aston Villa was higher priced than all the final four teams of Europa League and Dortmund!!! Of course it was a major trophy!!! Aston Villa has the fastest wings from backs to attackers!!! What Olympiacos managed to do this year against so many teams, against West Ham(an also very highly priced team) is an athlos!!!
It's pur biggest moment of pur history until the next one
olympiacos also didn't have the typical conference path you expect. i mean he face the israeli/hungarian clear champions, the 'turkish liverpool' fenerbahce who lost the title with 99 points 🙃 & the 4th team of PL!!! 100% huge achievement
Very good analysis boys.
It's not a small achievement. Some great teams were in the tournament.
Its the first European trophy for any greek team... Of course its a major cup for us!
Top Stage Competition has become a Close League between the top 5 Leagues. Top 8 in the Champions League are the same every year. The Finance differences are ENORMOUS. Olympiakos ,the Biggest Greek team, had 150-250 million difference even in the Conference League among other competitors. Football should be for everyone so of course its a major trophy because teams from non Top 5 Leagues can believe they can achieve European Silverware without the huge TV deal secured from their National Associations or Huge Investors
Aston Villa, Fenerbahce, Fiorentina, Olympiacos, Lille etc
Europa level teams at minimum.
Name one of those teams that cannot compete in the Champions league.
It is a uefa trophy ao ye its mayor trophy remember only a team at a time can win it so not all will win it...
If someone says that it's not a major trophy, just ask them how many times they've won't it. Also ask them why are Villa and Fiorentina still mourning? Any UEFA cup is major and very difficult to achieve🔴⚪️🔴⚪️
at least ten times better than winning the Carabao Cup
Nowadays there have popped out so many teams, which are really decent but have no chance to stand out at all, as both Champions and Europa League, include teams coming from the 4 best countries and ultimately leaving no chance at the rest inferior hundred to have a distinctive appearance
Let's not forget that practically, Oly played against 2 Europa cup teams (Turks and Fiore) and 1 CL (Villa). I think that the special one had sais 2 y ago that Conf. L. is just like Europa after the group stage.
Making Italiano to change his system, says it all. Oly won the final when he took out Villa, Fiore lost it before the final
If you are Real or Milan, Conference League maybe is not a major trophy. But any of the teams participated in Europa League and Conference League would give their right arm to win this.
Any European trophy is MAJOR success, there is not a major or minor Europen trophies.
It's definitely a major trophy but it is also because the overall level has increased so much! if we are being honest over half the teams in Europa league have zero chances of winning and 1/3 of champions league can't. It's definitely a major trophy when you take into account the dominance of the big 4 leagues + psg
Olympiacos is not a small team though. Great history. European history too. Maybe was unlucky or smth for not make it again in the past
Just the starting 11 of Villa in the semis, so their injured players and bench do not count, was worth 3 times what the entire Olympiacos squad was. When there are teams from the top leagues plus dark horses from "weaker" leagues like Fener, Brugge, Dinamo Zagreb etc, it's obviously not a small deal to win the competition
its a major trophy relative of the history of greek clubs in the European competitions and trophies(zero before olympiacos won conference)......for teams which are not from England spain germany france Italy .....is hard to compete based on budget..that's why admire NBA (they have salary cup)...
GUYS YOU DIDN'T COMMENT ABOUT THE PENALTY!
You are speaking for major trophy, you can easily answer your question by yourselves if you consider that no team, the last 13 years( I think) since Porto won an Uefa trophy, outside of the top 5 championships. Also it is an easy answer if you see the budget and the value of A.Villa, Fener etc
All of you are forgetting the the referis always are favored to the big five countries Olympiakos in champions several times have lost from bad luck or the referis, k19 of Olympiakos won European champions before 1 month also, so let's see this year what happens
Check the photo of Mourinio holding proudly and with tears in his eyes the Europa Conference League 2 years ago as a Roma coach.Totally disagree with your point of view....
Huge Victory for OLYMPIAKOS Best moment for Greek Football .Why you are not talking about. the Penalty for OLYMPIAKOS? It was clear handball inside the Pwnalty box. , Watch the game again please . Nobody is talking about the Penalty
As an olympiacos fan i was fuming when the referees did nothing
1955 establishment of the champions cup (With 10 games in total, the cup...
Later Champions League (they got serious!!!)
1960 establishment of Cup Winners' Cup
It was discontinued in 1999 because the level was bad!!!
Teams have been destroyed by their joy not jokes...
(They were playing teams without even having a domestic title as finalists...)
1971 establishment of UEFA cup
Later Europa League
(Always the most honest organization of all until before the transfer system....)
For almost 30 years there were three European competitions! All major!!!
The Conference League came to replace the Europa League which in turn will in some way revive the Cup Winners' Cup where the ticket to participate comes from the Cup Winners of the domestic championships Hoping to raise the interest of the institution of the domestic cup for a bigger market poul)
🔴⚪🔴⚪
Pure referee but Olympiakos managed to win
