Beware the shadows and the darkness which seem silent. Beware the closed doors, the whispering mirrors. Beware the Song of Horror that nests in the cracks of your mind.
The famed writer Sebastian P. Husher has gone missing, along with his entire family. Worried, his editor sent an assistant to his house in order to look for him - but he never came back... These disappearances spark a set of events that will soon reveal something dreadful: a nameless, dark entity known only as The Presence seems to be responsible.
A PARANORMAL ADVENTURE OF UNPREDICTABLE TERROR
Song of Horror offers a truly dynamic terror experience: its antagonist, the supernatural entity known only as The Presence, is controlled by an advanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) that adapts to your actions and decisions. Experience unbearable fear as this otherworldly being responds to your way of playing and hunts you down in unexpected ways, offering a unique experience to every player and gameplay where tension builds up naturally instead of coming from scripted sequences.
As a player, you will live this story through the eyes of a varied set of characters related to the story in their own way. Every character is different, and brings their unique point of view to the investigation, allowing them to approach clues and items differently. Their actions and decisions will shape the world: some of them will know more or less of certain aspects of the story; some will be more effective against supernatural manifestations, but all of them can die if the Presence gets to them - and death is permanent. If they die, you will have to pick the story up with another one, and continue the investigation so their deaths are not in vain.

Alexander should be interesting. He lives in the house, so hopefully no locked doors, and he has high strength, so no problem holding doors closed, but really low serenity... so you'll have to do it while your controller rumbles out of control! (A bit of good with the bad, might be fun.😊 ) This game is amazing. Thanks for the extra long play. Can't wait to see more, in hopefully a few weeks.
I genuinely appreciate the object physics (??) when they're being rotated - like with the dishcloth and the remote control. That must have taken ages to animate; props to the game developers!
Note to self: don't enter rooms in a haunted mansion when you hear sobbing, laughing or any other noises from inside them.

A word to all future horror game characters: Once you get outside the haunted mansion/hospital/school/psychiatric ward, just keep walking...
I love the detail in the game and the multi-POV angle. It's slow burn for sure, but the last scene definitely turned the threat from implied to very real. And your enthusiasm, Chris, adds to the fun. Looking forward to more.

Back in the first world war, a lot of german wives gave their gold wedding rings in exchange for iron ones to contribute to the war effort. The iron rings would be often inscribed with the words "Ich gab Gold für Eisen" which translates to "I gave gold for iron". Probably nothing to do with the game whatsoever but that's what the iron ring reminded me of. I'm absolutely loving this so far, you seriously put out some of the best damn content! Really looking forward to the next part!

Very interesting tidbit. But sadly no, when you inspect the iron ring you find out its just the ring portion of a broken key.

For what? To rule something which is on earth? After death what will you take from earth? Nothing, so yes they were all idiots i have no sympathy and empathy for them.
It sort of ties into the old folks song suil a ruin about a woman pining for her love gone to war. She laments their distance and talks of selling every belonging she has to buy a sword of steel in the hopes he can return alive. Several versions of the song then go on to say how she wanders the world searching for him, presumably dead
Scratches is still probably one of my favorite games you've ever played.

@@saeosthavula9908 he find toilets in loads of the games he played and was disappointing that he couldn't use them, eventually someone made a game that the toilet worked and put his name in it, now he checks them all as for him its a sign of detail work.

It's been a while for me to be really invested in any horror game and just after peeking part of this video I decided to give it a go.
Song of Horror is surprisingly matured and polished, never disappoints me in any way, and reminds me of Silent Hill 4 but definitely surpasses it by how they choose to be an immersive experience without those awkward battle mechanics. I'm in the middle of playing episode 2, will be back to binge your playthrouhgs after finishing mine. Thank you Chris for playing this gem!

His comment about the monsters thinking she may be listening in was hilarious lol 😂. I actually started visualizing monsters behind the door all Scooby style being sneaky because she was listening in at the door haha.
Ah no you went through all that with her and you go and open the one door that you heard something lol , maybe its best to always remember the sentance "curiousity killed the cat" . Lets hope someone gets the items or it changes for the next character . Great gameplay look forward to the next video

I appreciate that they still give you a glimpse of outside. The window and the view from the yard. It makes it all more believable and contrasting to what’s going on inside.
I like Sophie, how unfortunate. Can you have two characters in the house at the same time I wonder?
I nearly woke the house, giggling over the Type-90 matches. Love the little Fatal Frame reference they tossed in.
I stan a fan of well-paced slow burn-type stories. Your enthusiasm is contagious, Chris; I find myself enjoying this just as much.

Sophie is a strong woman. If I were her, I'd be holding that scented candle under my nose and huffing it as I walked around there. On the plus side, maybe the Evil would think, "That one's got some problems....." and leave me alone.
Somehow, even if the game bugs you to listen thru doors, I felt that Sophie was meant to meet that fate. True, you can ignore the plea of help from the phone call. But at the back of your mind, you can still welcome the notion that at least one of the family members may have survived. Interesting game so far.
This game is really good and I’m really enjoying watching it so far. Its attention to detail and replayability is quite impressive. From developing multiple characters/ backstorys, having a unique audio and listening mechanic, brilliant graphics, good atmosphere and tension, and having not only a map-but one that updates where you go. The storyline and notes are also really interesting. Having a good slower paced game is a refreshing change from all those short and cheap jump scared filled games nowadays.
But overall I guess I’m just a sucker for a good haunted house adventure.

This was so good! I was definitely hooked from the first few minutes, and didn't want you to stop either XD. The game looks amazing, and I love how it relies on atmosphere rather than jump scares. The fact that you can lose characters gives it an extra edge.
Maybe the game will recommend which character to go with next? If not, storywise I think Etienne would make more sense.
I'm a bit late for the party but I'm loving this. Also, I'd love to point out how cute it is that this refined lady uses scented candles as a coping mechanism. When I thought I was the only one...

The type-90 red box of the matches reminded me of Fatal Frame...
Seems like if two people went missing at that house, Etienne should have called the fucking police to go take a look, instead of people drip-feeding themselves into the mansion.

It's an odd thing to include but Haddock...I've heard about that fish recently while fishing on the Atlantic. (We caught 2 of them through the course of fishing for whiting and loligo squid.) Evidently the finger print looking spots on either side of it represent the fingerprints of Jesus at the sermon on the mount.

I wasn't sure at first, but after watching up to 32:00 where you had Sophie listen to what may be on the other side of the door, I am certain I remember watching someone play a demo for this game about 2 or 3 years ago. You only played as Daniel in the demo, though. The game's come quite a long way since then.
Also: That photo jumpscare... Damn!
That Type 90 box reminds me of Fatal Frame type 90 film. Colors are almost the same. Perhaps a reference?
This game and your playthrough are great but is no one questioning why that wire poses a danger if the electricity isn't working? Or why she is still in the house after that door scene with all the hands?

To this day, if someone does something questionable to me, in my head I hear that deadpan voice an accent “Why did you throw away the master key? WHY DID YOU THROW AWAY THE MASTER KEY?” 😂
If a door on one side of the room has no door on the other side, I would avoid the door. That is some dimensional stuff right there.
I think the scariest part is that after saying "I will take a few days off" the boss replied "We will talk about that..." Such dejavu.
You know, rewatching this 3 years later and I'm still salty that you killed her off and didnt reload a save 😂

This game is beautiful, challenging and amazing. I'm mad you got Sophie killed. She is one of my favorite characters. I was yelling at the screen for you to not go in the room. He called the house phone when the power was out. I knew he was dead. There was a reason you listened first. She had shown so much promise as a character. This reminds me of Remothered, The Conjouring House and Colina Legacy. the art style is unmatched in any game I have seen this year. The choice of static camera perspectives just add to the horror. I never know what's luring around the corner and I even get turned around sometimes. The years this game took to develop has paid off. I cant wait for more. I'm dying to understand the lore behind the music box and what it did to this family.

I'd absolutely love watching you play the whole game, when it's out. Did you ever played Alone In The Dark 2 (The New Nightmare)? This game reminds me a little bit of AITD2. It was the very first horror game I played, back than. The atmosphere, background music and the possibility of playing with different characters feels a bit like AITD2. 👍😃

Apart from Alexander's lore, I am more curious if the "entity" responds differently to each character. Does it leave one character alone more than others, or does it basically fuck with everyone's minds equally?
