“A purpose of human life, no matter who is controlling it, is to love whoever is around to be loved.”

Man got to sit and wonder 'why, why, why?'
      Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land;
Man got to tell himself he understand.”
“Who is more to be pitied, a writer bound and gagged by policemen or one living in perfect freedom who has nothing more to say?”
“The practice of art isn't to make a living. It's to make your soul grow.”
“And a step backward, after making a wrong turn, is a step in the right direction.”

Lets clear some misconceptions right out the gate.
This track is one that Lupe was working on 3 years ago. He posted an ig live of him rappin a verse. You can find it on youtube.
The album this is on was something Lupe started 5 years ago. This album has an autobiographical layer and a tribute layer. The tribute is to Amy Winehouse.
    Lupe just tweeted:
"A loving & living portrait to and of one of my favorite artists, Amy Winehouse. I’ve done many portraits of people I admire over the years. Some public and some private. This one took on a life of its own and became an album. Looking forward to sharing it."
So why am I saying this. Cause yall need to understand that this track and the album its on has NOTHING to do with Kendrick vs Drake beef that happened a month ago.
Lupe typically releases something every 2-3 years. 2 years ago he released DMIZ and 2 years prior he released House. Why am I saying this? Cause yall need to understand that Lupe didnt change his regular cadence/schedule to take advantage of Kendrick vs Drake. Lupe has said again and again that he dont care about chasing clout. He even made Joe Budden apologize for implying that he rapped on Andre3k's flute track to take advantage of the buzz at the time. Lupe fans know that Lupe is a nerd about the craft and he rapped over Champagne Poetry and Mona Lisa before because he liked them shits. Same for 3 stacks new album. Lupe stopped chasing numbers and the mainstream 10+ years ago. He even said that Tetsuo & Youth and DMIZ arent for casuals; they are for his core fans and they are inspired by fine art which he believes the mainstream culture doesnt really fuck with.
Some rappers dont live their lives according to trends and changes in the wind of whats poppin. Lupe is one of those ones.
Everything that I said, I can back up with a source cause I actually follow Lupe like that. Most of yall dont be lookin out for what Lu on like that. Most of yall didnt even listen to DMIZ. Lets keep it a buck fifty

It's not direct for Kendrick but it is clearly a piece to remind like I'm here. Don't forget that. Because it is more so directly made without anything too crazy to understand and is very much so a show off. He doesn't really do those, there usually is more when he does a song than that I'm the guy. So it's clearly a reminder that oh people want to talk about who can spazz out the best? Yeah sure. Here we go..

Just cause your whole world revolves around Kendrick don't mean it's true for everyone else.
This album is about Amy Winehouse and Lupe.

“Consuming all the comments and Vomitting up the Vonnegut” is an awesome line. He’s talking about the comment section of social media. He’s successful because of people loving and hating him on social media. It feeds him and lets him create great works. Vonnegut is a great author and he’s comparing himself to a literary classic and genius. Also, this song is like 3 years old. He leaked the first verse, hook and beat on his instagram. Its not a reference to Kendrick. The song is part of his upcoming Samurai album which is a concept album project based on Amy Winehouse as a battle rapper. Cake is track 3, Samurai is track 1. We need the album to fully come out to get the full storyline/narrative and where each song fits in the storyline. If you are a Lupe fan, you know he loves stringing out stories and narratives/themes across multiple tracks like The Cool or Tetsuo and Youth or Drogas Wave.

Attention seeker? The only reason he even said that shit about not being scared of no smoke is because Kendrick fans went wayyyy off script and tried to sell the narrative that Lupe apologized to Kendrick like Cole did and that bullshit went viral and outlets like Complex picked it up and put out articles saying Lupe among a group of rappers who apologized to Kendrick on some scared ish.
Lupe had no choice but to clear that up. He never apologized to Kendrick and aint scared of him.
Everytime he gets dragged into shit and he responds then all of a sudden its him wanting attention. Its lose lose. In this case, the best thing for him is to speak with his chest. And he did. Lupe doesnt care about clout or numbers. But he cares about his legacy. Thats why he had to put a stop to the insane narratives created from twisting his words and the context of his words.

These young kids don't care about lyricism they only want to shake their ass and listen to a song with a good beat. I hope all these real rappers get the shine they deserve. Lupe, Joyner, JID, Taylor, Baby Keem, and the ones who really have a love for Hip Hop. It's time for a change in music, so many talented artists . Why do we just focus on one.

Lupe the GOAT. this whole album was lightwork for him.

Ive always liked Lupe he's dope, but he definitely lied about Drake being better than Kendrick.

Lupe didn't tell any lies. Go back and actually listen to the conversation Lupe and Aye Verb were having because Kendrick fans two months didn't really disagree with him after they got the full context. And even after the beef, everything Lupe said holds up.

@@snowhawk04 Two months ago I didn't even know that comment existed. But I will say I was wrong to call him a liar. It's just his opinion however I believe it came from a place of bitterness for whatever reason. Kendrick ,J.Cole and Lupe are top lyricists not Drake. Lupe saying Drake is better than Kendrick to me is like saying he's better than him. Simply not true.

@@beautifullady4170 All you are saying is you haven't listened to what Lupe actually said and you also don't listen to much rap, even scoped to just the commercial rap scene. Lupe was right in that Live. Lupe is right on this track. Lupe really is your boogeyman.

@@snowhawk04 It's an opinion. But Lupe can hold his own. He writes for himself. A battle between him and Kendrick would be good. It wouldn't get dirty because Lupe isn't on that type of time. I don't doubt Lupe's abilities just Drakes. Drake's fans know he couldn't get the job done so they're looking for the next best thing. Lupe isn't u guys scapegoat 🤣

@@beautifullady4170 It's an UNINFORMED opinion. I don't need a Lupe glow job. I'd like you to go back and actually listen to what he said.
LOL @ "u guys". Bro, I'm not an Aubreysexual. But you're certainly a K-Thot. Kenny proved he isn't the lyricist you think he is. Plagiarized Pusha, battle rap, and twitter. Kenny needed a 20v1 to get the courage to go against the easiest mark in hip-hop and couldn't take him out in 1. But hey, if Kenny wants the smoke, he knows what to do.

Him, Kendrick, Cole are one of a few rap artist when they release i actually listen to the whole album over and over.
Mr Morale and the Big Steppers is the best rap album ever.
