It’s the mysteries of RUclips. But I’ll keep making videos I care about and hopefully the views go up! Thanks for the support, glad you enjoyed them! 😃👍
I like your points of view! I have a GH5 and GH5S since 2019. I have my Lumix lenses since 2014 and a large variety of vintage lenses as well. I agree with the durability as well, I’ve been shooting under moderate rain and of course they survived. In all these years, only one time the GH5 got overheated. But, I was in really extreme condition: at noon, around 1 p.m. under the hot Summer in Texas filming some horses in 110 Fahrenheit degrees (above 40 Celsius). The camera was literally burning and now still works. It’s a great investment. No doubt!
I have two GH5s, one GH5 Mk2, and one GH6. I shoot Multicam live theatre, concerts and dance shows. I power my cameras with USB batteries. The regular GH5s use a dummy battery but the GH5 Mk2 and the GH6 can be powered by USB-C in addition to the internal batteries. I use Atomos Ninja V’s on all my cameras but they also record a 10 bit backup internally. The GH6 has a 2TB CF Express card, so in addition to the 4K recording it records a ProRes 5.7 K internal recording as a backup an it also gives me a little more punch in.
The GH6 is better on all the cons you mentioned, but your last point nails it, the GH5 is ~$500-600! That said, I got the GH6 cause 240/300fps and 120fps 4K.... mmm I love my slow motion.
Yes you are absolutely true, the successor is better (thank god 😄) and I may switch to that one day but for now I keep the GH5. I love slow motion as well but not enough to justify the price today. Thanks for commenting! 👊😊
As a person trying to upgrade and get started into this new creator world, i am lost with all of the choices out there. I have a d5600 with 2 lens. I dont mind switching. I think i am doing 60% video and 40% photo. And i don't mind running two different setups... my initial thought was the gh5 for video and using an olympus e-m1 for photos. Lens could be swapped... just looking for some inspiration
Sounds like a plan! The GH5 is pretty ok at taking photos as well so may I suggest starting with a GH5 for video and trying it out for photography. If you feel that you need more then look for a second camera dedicated to that. Good luck! 😃👍
I just ordered my first GH5, should have arrived today but it's been delayed. Anyway, I watched a vid last week saying that a firmware update fixed the auto-focus problem. Do you have the latest firmware or is auto-focus still a problem? I've been using a Canon XA20 for several years and it's been great but it's big and a little heavy, and doesn't shoot in 4k... which wasn't an issue when I bought it. So I purchased a Black Magic Pocket Cinema 4k. Something named "Pocket" should be nice and small right? No. It's nearly as big and just as heavy, and I rarely use it because so much of what I shout is on the fly, so I need the auto settings. With the understanding of the auto-focus on the GH5 being fixed I've been hoping it's one I'll be able to use. Now that the price is down to the point a hobbyist can justify buying one, I'm hoping it's auto features are as good as my old Canon and I'm smart enough to figure out how to use them.
What the… why your videos don’tv have more views? I watched 3 or 4 in the row and i subscribed.

Wow that sounds like an awesome setup! 👍😃
2024 and GH5 is still one of the most complete cameras out there
So true! 👊😊
Great informative video! And love the small funny details you add in, keep it up 😊🤩
Thanks John! Well I had so much more fun doing this video than the last ones I’ve made so I’ll definitely keep doing them like this! 😄👍

I still have my GH5. I still use it for my RUclips channel and my Projects.
Awesome! I see no reason to switch at this point. 😊👊

What camera did you use for this video?
I am looking to buy my first camera! What kind of lenses would you recommend if I’m on a budget?
It very much depends on what your goal is, but the 12-35 f2.8 is a solid choice that will let you do a lot of things with just one lens! 👍😃
Something about the image from this camera camera is so sexy I don’t know why
Tell me, are you looking for a camera right now? Or do you already have one?😃
