Hercules getting a meaningful buff right before he comes back is nice to see.
Now are we forgetting about another 4/6 card? Please buff White Queen so I can play my sweet sweet variant.

The Angela change feel fine at first glance. She's only worse after 4+ cards played in her lane, and let's be real, a 2/8 or 2/10 is pretty ridiculous.
Yeah its pretty elegent how if you simply fill up her lane without using any tricks her power is the same as pre-nerf
Even as a vanilla, she is still fine for a 2 cost lol, she has scaling with no downside basically
@@ValentinoNickoI wouldn't say that. The safe stat for a 2 cost is around 4 power. But really, if you play just 1 card on top of it, it is already at the expected power. Overall, it seemed like a buff to Angela when you buy her late, but a nerf when you play her on curve

2/2 is for card with utility (Beast, Daredevil, Forge, Goose, Grandmaster, Hazmat, Mirage, Mr. Sinister, Okoye, Psylocke, Scorpion, Shadow King, Master Mold, White Widow).
2/3 is given to card with utility but considered by SD to weak to be given 2/2 stats (Armor, Baron Mordo, Cable, Colossus, Dr. Strange, Falcon, Hulk Buster, Invis. Woman, Jeff, Quake, Ravonna, Scarlet Witch, Swarm, Sentinel, Valentina, Zabu, Multiple Man, US Agent).
Card can go further from 2/3, with limitation and / or downside, or considered a weak archetype (Mysterio, Lizard, Silk, Collen Wing, Cloak, Maximus).
Card that can scale with their respective limitation and is < 2/3 (Carnage, Mojo, Star Lord, Collector, Wolverine, Kraven, Medusa, Dazzler, Bucky Barnes, Dagger, Havok, Morbius).
Card with vanilla 2/3 stats and can scale, Angela. (I would also count Thena because her effect is very easy to use, but at least start at understats).
I don't know how you consider 2/4 is the safe stats when we literally only have 3 cards with that stats.

Sorta feels notable that the glut of 4 cost cards getting a buff or change seems to be inline with Zabu never getting re-addressed since it was nerfed. I don't expect we will ever see his old ongoing ability added, although I would like to see something to bring him back to game a little.
@@nickisaac8671 saw someone suggest "activate: next turn, your 4-cost cards cost 1 less." So you get to play him on curve and activate his ability at any point during the game.
@@foggyinc724 The reason Zabu was great was because it let you play two 4-costs on T6. The change you mentioned does nothing to address that.
@@silvsilvsilv Yes it does. Spoiler warning, but activate is a new mechanic that has been datamined. Once a card with an "activate" ability is in play, you can choose when its ability triggers. So with that suggested textbox you could play him early and activate his ability on turn 5

@@electron4865 I understand what "activate" does. I'm saying with that ability he'd be like 90% as problematic as he was pre-nerf. Zabu's strenght wasn't that he let you play a 4-cost on T3, it's that he let you play two 4-costs on T6.

I was just starting to consider Alioth a non toxic card and even clever to build around.
I have a feeling I'll be hating seeing it again soon.
How could they nerf Angela during Pride Month???
the nice thing with the Angela nerf is that this makes her better as a later play if you need too, and is better for the first 2 cards played on her and equal at the 3rd (i.e. playing her "honestly" just filling the lane straight) its only at the 4th play on her that she drops in half.
I can see why Alioth was buffed, there are a bunch of decks with explosive t6 roaming around, aint nobody wanna lose to a very fair 2/20 Sage (with Ravonna discount), great change imo.
I like the kingpin change. Imo potential for move control

I brought back my old silky-smoove deck this season but actually cut kingpin bc he just felt like back-up kraven. This change might get me to put him back in

To me the nerf to Angela makes sense, yes I like her and the decks she's in but her power level was too damn high for a 2 cost. Another thing to note is that now it's a lot easier to gain priority with her which can really help in scenarios where you want to avoid Red Guardian or managing to bounce your 1 drops before Killmonger shows up, and as Jeff said now she can contenst Shadow King more easily.
The KP change is cool because now you can make very fun lines of plays with him such as turn 4 KP into SM, Jeggernaut or Polaris, turn 5 KP into Stegron and turn 6 KP into Aero.
The Hercules change will also help KP for sure but I feel like Herc is going to be a lot better in decks such as Phoenix Force and he can clear his lane meaning it's really easy to use him alongside Prof X so your opponent can't move anything there.

Gotta love Jeff’s dedication to the game. I stopped playing a while ago but it’s good to see content creators like him are still around supporting the game. Love it.
2/3 is a vanilla stats for 2 cost, I still think Angela is strong, just not as strong as before. If Angela "nerfed" to 2/3, I think it is just fair to elevate other 2 cost to be 3 power (Scorpion, Daredevil, Okoye).
imo facing scorpion is a miserable experience but I wouldn’t mind a buff to the other two
That base power change to Angela makes her harder to target with Red Guardian, which should be interesting.

Just my personal opinion. I wish cards like Alioth they just changed the text to something more interactive or meaning-full rather than just changing stat points to make it more relevant. Considering a lot of decks rely on turn 6 plays I feel personally Alioth just kills a lot of that enjoyment in the game. Not saying it’s necessarily a bad change but for me personally I’m not a fan.
Love this patch, going to look forward to brewing up with full move and/or little movers decks
Love the move buffs, especially the Kingpin buff. I love moving my opponents' cards around.
Quite bummed about Angela, one of my favourite cards, but I can't deny that a nerf was justified. I really hope she remains playable, though.
I don't like the Angela nerf at all, I understand the logic but I just don't like it when the most efficient way to get power is to just play high base stat stuff. Getting rid of these smaller cards that scale up is a buff to all of the higher powered cards in the game. If they had changed Angela to a 3/0 then maybe it would have been a more meaningful means of preventing her from scaling out of control. Another alternative would be to put a precedent where she can always scale to a certain point.
Ngl a 3/0 would make me drop her instantly. I think you underestimate how important it is for her to fit into your curve
@@dustinhiatt3835 but Ramona puts her in the curve and bounce plus kitty would probably still see use out of a higher cost Angela.
I'm with you on the importance of scaling cards, but I think 3/0 would have been a much bigger nerf than the one they went with. IMO she'd be basically unplayable at 3/0.

Sad for the Angela nerf but honestly +2 Angela has been marked for death since kitty pryde first entered the game. She got a stay of execution last month but Thena put her right back on the chopping block
Excited for Hercules and Miles. Folks have even more of an incentive to open for Arishem now that Herc is better. Madame Web, Herc, Torch Vulture pinball deck is in my future.
While I'm sad that Angela is getting hit, on the flip side I also never like it when a certain card is often "best in slot" in most decks and with Angela's synergy with Ravonna she was certainly getting to that stage. As for Alioth, I hate to say this, but I think I'd like to see him a bit more often. His effect is no where near as oppressive as old Alioth was and I think certain players (cough: surfer enjoyers) have been getting a bit too complacent with where they telegraph their turn 6 plays.
I'm cautiously optimistic that the Alioth buff will be OK, but idk. The rest seems really nice to me.
As a move enjoyer, this makes me extremely happy. I don't mind the Alioth buff, as I think it's worth at least waiting to see how it affects his overall playrate, but I really dont feel like Angela needed a nerf at all. She is rarely protected in the decks she fits in and is already countered just fine by Shadow King and Shang if she gets out of hand. Her power and effectiveness are very good, but I've never lost to a deck with Angela and thought, "Yes it's Angela thats the problem!"
I understand about giving Miles an extra power, but now that's 1 more card removed from C5 =/

This pisses me off a bit not gonna lie cuz they just sorta choked on their own words from angela's last ota and it seems they only buffed her to push thena and that fucking sucks.
Would be cool if they would stop gutting the new player power houses but second dinner just wants the money that's why they didn't hit Thena.

I like all the changes here, almost nobody played Alioth anymore so I think It's fair and the angela package has been very oppressive. I though Thena would take a hit too and a power of ravona but oh well :)
The speed of the Angela nerf is impressive. L 👀 king forward to the rapid response team not letting some cards go unchecked for 6 to 18 months.
This version of Alioth should be 12 power. He's gone from being a big bad, to a big sad.

I hate to see the Angela nerf. I'd be interested to see their metrics, especially over the last week. Anecdotally my stock Angela/Kitty/Thena deck has struggled a lot against all the surfer decks running rampant right now so I'm curious if this isn’t one of those changes that's coming on the heels of high usage that pushes a card out that was already going to phase out naturally.

Gotta disagree here. I spent literally seconds on a thena/angela/kitty deck after buying her in the shop and was winning more easily than any other deck I had. Most of my losses were to other Thena decks lol
Angela was reliably like a 2/10 every game. This nerf is absolutely justified.

Wong's combos are more of a problem than Odin's triggers. A Zabu Nerf is definitely in order.
Miles was a key part of C5 decks, this is more of a Nerf than a Buff.

Alioth’s power is irrelevant.
I gave Electro/Blink/Galactus a try earlier this week and man, Alioth definitely did not need this buff. People started forgetting about it, and it was able to rug pull for some unexpected wins.

Hey Jeff, thanks for the breakdown. RIP Angela she will be missed. Are you personally losing weight? I am trying to lose weight myself because of health reasons and trying to feel better. It's been rough so I always want to encourage those who choose to go on the grind of healthy weight lose.
I've gone from 220 to 190 this year so far. Aiming for 170 before 2025. Keep at it, you'll get there as well!
Angela is kind of the face of the game imho. One of the coolest cards. The nerf kind kills her imho and I strongly believe Angela shouldnt change for the sins of Thena. And I like and own Thena.
Angela is in no way the face of the game. Non comic book readers don't even know who she is (and a significant amount of comic book readers probably don't either). The change also doesn't kill her. If you activate her 5 times she'll still be a 2/8, which is way above rate.

Did you not watch the video? Especially the part where SD literally gave their reasoning for the change?
The only counters are red guardian, sk and Shang. They are not even good counters too as rg has to be used turn 3. And sk and shang are not reliable as you will rarely lose prio against her causing you to still loose the lane.
@@austinchen4177 yeah, there are 3 different counters you already mentioned, also Green Goblin, Polaris, Debree…. I’m sure I’m forgetting others too
