So beautiful. Sadly im 17 and no one i know has ever heard of mott the hoople, but theyre albums are all over my bedroom walls and I FUCKIN love em. Still rockin in 2022🤟🏻
My sister and I both loved their music but most people I knew had no idea who they were. I was a fan from the first song I heard and always will be To me music is the key to happiness
Man I wish I wasn’t so old. Never got to see Mott. Ian’s live album with Mick Ronson got me through some tough times as a young man. Thank you Ian. You might have saved my life.
In twenty years time Mott the Hoople will be recognised as the source of 70s rock .So much unacclaimed but its their way .Raw brilliance ,proper music ,pandemonium ,the "wall" of sound ,lyrics of truth
Ians gone turn 80 next year. Still remember hearing "the Hoople" the first time, I was blown away by that record. "Mott" and "the Hoople" are both in my top10 records of alltime.
a true tribute to Buffin long before the reality of it occurred , the vision of a future when time is lost and the days all run together as if to fold space into oblivion, love the blues time period and the entire works.
This song 'hurts'...it was amazingly expressive and evocative back in the day...but in light of how reality has evolved it is simply doubly impactful... An amazingly talented and too often overlooked straight ahead rock & roll band that unfortunately/inaccurately got categorized a glitter band. Mad Shadows and Brain Capers remain an amazing testament to a truly impressive band.
I agree that the "glitter band" moniker was kind of dismissive. But they helped perpetuate the glitter band image with their outfits. It may have somewhat masked their genius- but that genius is there if you just listen.
Looking at the pics in the vid - those greats who have gone now - Buffin, Watts, Ronno and Ralphs out of action - sad, so very sad. A supergroup that were denied their rightful position and still have yet to be fully acknowledged for what they were.
These lyrics really say what's in my head right now. When I finally go and my mind is finally quiet I want the ones I loved to know I stored their memories, the good and tha bad, the happy and the sad in my soul So I'll take my secrets I'll take them with me to my grave And if I'm taking yours Then I will try to make it safe
Ian say hello to your oldest fan from here in New Zealand , i remember listening to you young dudes back in the dark ages of time , with my very special friends. Mott, Steve Harley Ray Davies and all the good old boys.. Thanks for the music.. By the way .. Old Records never Die. is a killer of a song.. Why not do a TOUR DOWN UNDER , prior to you being down under , go on man you can afford it.. You can come stay at my home.. all clean and tidy, Dont think for a moment im leaving an invite to Mrs Hunter out , thats just not in the question. Trudy is more than welcome. Chow for now , old mate. Brendon.

Been listening to Mott since 74. Heart and soul are poured into the music.

Me too, Buddy! :-)
Love Mott the Hoople, was lucky enough to see them in 1974 Oklahoma. City. 2002 I saw Ian's playing with Ringo's Allstars Oklahoma City.

I'd say that title could/should also go to Free....who's first few excellent albums predate MTH...

So much heart and soul. Mott has always been one of my favorites. Crossroads is another song that makes you think.
My husband as dementia .its awful to lose a loved one .this song says it all

Mott was the 1st album I ever bought.......followed by the Hoople!

RIP Buffin. Hate and love this song - it's just so terrifyingly accurate. Guy Stevens and Ian ripping your soul to pieces....
Such a hauntingly beautiful, sad song.

Ian Hunter's great singing =)
Like a rare piece of Art.
RIP Buffin
Ian says it all and speaks the truth and the circumstances of love, true love.
doesn't he just! such raw, emotional singing.
Amazing man is he.
Why isn't Mott in the rock n roll Hall of Fame yet?
Byron Barsamian Too good, that's why? they don't need and didn't seek the approval of the music industry, they just did it, straight to our hearts.
Bobby G Thank you, my man. Just listened to the Beatles double album, the white album.
Sheer genius
Awesome, the feeling is bigger than a song

Absolutely epic song, not heard this for so long.
This is Us season 3 ! All songs in this show are amazing and perfectly in accordance !
Why I can‘t find this on Spotify?!? :(
It’s on Mad Shadows. I played that on Spotify recently
Colin Moon can you share the spotify link?
This song came from their most nihilistic album, MAD SHADOWS: Bet on It.
Terrence Dale 'Buffin' Griffin, 24 October 1948 - 17 January 2016. Alzheimer's Disease.
Kinda depressing to listen to and see pictures of Buffin considering what happened to him. :(
