@@ViceCityMasta Let me give you a clue and see if the light comes on Look at the trucks going by, notice the back of the empty trucks. The is something in the bed of all the empty trucks and on top of a few also. Now with that clue ask your self, Hmm, What active duty unit would be in a climate that would have that, since when you look at the background there isn't any there. If you still can't guess I will tell you since I know the unit that shipped the equipment and where it was headed, which happens to be JRTC at Ft Polk.
I'm pretty sure that train came out of fort drum in Watertown New York, mainly due to the snow on it and the fact that I work for the RR that is hauling it.
@@joseventura9469 and you are speaking on what kind of experience? This humvee, which is likely worth far more than you think, and paid for by your tax dollars if you work, is only worth scrap to you?
Any town that has a rail line right down in amongst the give and take is right up there in the list of my favorite towns. And close enough to a military base that this is what rolls through town........ GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!
WWII trains were more interesting to watch as they had big steamers to pull those Willys (an icon) Shermans, Power Wagons of all sorts, troop carriers, canons, half tracks, army tank with portable bridges, war planes and all!
Army Transportation Corps I know it took the 88H's and 88M's all day to load that one. It looks like maybe some units are going to annuall training. I know last summer when I went to A.T. in Fort Polk we unloaded and loaded trains this long with Illinois Reserve units equipment. If you see a train like this look at the paper in the window and it will tell you everything.
I worked at the rail head at Fort Polk in August after working as an OC for JRTC. They needed volunteers. I just checked tie downs so it wasn't too bad.
Apparently, this constituted a light load - only two locos for this rather long consist. I could not fail to notice that tarps and canvas window covers were affixed rather sloppily, more often waving in the breeze than not.
Thank you for this information. We know we are in for a struggle, so all information is good information. There is no question about "moral compass" - it has been sold.
Either the unit is going to deployment or coming home from deployment. I know because we had to do the same thing when I was stationed in Germany and deployed to Iraq. We had to load up ALL of our equipment and vehicles on rail cars. And since that's in Kentucky I want to say its most likely coming from or going to Fort Knox.
Wow, there was more military equpiment on that train, then 50% of other countries total armed forces. It is real hard to perceive how large the US military is .
That looks like a transportation unit that is on the move, probably heading to a port. That much equipment is about right for a Battalion. The actual troops will fly to the destination on chartered aircraft. Look at all the PLS units on there.
Now I may be surprised at how long a freight train can get pulled by one engine here in the UK but that is ridiculous! Only 2 engines for a train that takes at least 10 minutes to pass? I'm sure they are designed for this length of train like the ones here are but am not an engineer. Here in the UK the only trains that run on streets like this one are light rail trams. Nothing like this one ever goes near town/city centres here.
Retired Military and I love watching things like this, and all I can say is OOOrah. But at the same time, seven minutes from when the gates came down to when the last car passes????
I saw a figure of 89 feet for the length of a standard freight flatbed car in North America which is 27.13 meters. I counted how many cars go by in one minute a few times and the answer was about 10 cars per minute, this is 16 kilometers per hour (10 mph) a expected slow speed considering the street. It takes about 5 minutes and 45 seconds for all the cars to pass so the train is just under 1500 meters long with about 55 cars. Its not really a particularly long or very heavy freight train with two engines in a hilly area, Kentucky. Some western intercontinental freight trains in North America (Canada runs big trains too) can be 200 cars long double stack container trains with up to 8 locomotives distributed in the front, center, and rear to cross the mountain passes..
PRobably an infantry unit's gear being moved for training. there were towed artillery pieces, hummers , and HEMTTs but no heavy armorProbably either Campbell, or further on to maybe ft sill or Hood?
Okay, I’m from the Netherlands. I’ve seen a lot of video’s of trains in North America going through the middle of the street, but why the heck would you ever build a railroad straight through a town or city? I now somewhere in Europe there’s a similar railroad. But why would you run military trains down that track, why not build a track around the city or in an enclosed passage through the city that has fences next to the tracks? Maybe you think it’s just fun to see, I think it is cool but it also is very weird.
the original railroad would own the Right-of-Way and the city was built around it 100 years ago, because the rail was there!!! Look at Calgary and Vancouvers' BC yard right in town. It was there pretty much first. IF you wanted to move the rail you'd spend 50 years getting road Rights-of=Way organized. By then, the city would have quadrupled in size or you wouldn't need it.
63 flatcars (flatbed wagons)!! Now if each flatcar is 89 feet (27.13 m) long (the aproximate length of 2 shipping containers) then the length of the train (excluding the locos) is over 1.06 miles (1.71 km) long. Just imagine having to walk from the loco to the last wagon if there is a problem with it!! The length of the GE ES44AC # CSX 3084 (a 4,400 hp, AC traction diesel electric) is 73 ft 2 in (22.30 m) and the length of the GE C40-8W # 8352 (a 4000 hp, DC traction diesel electric) is 70 ft 8 in (21.54 m).
The red Cross on some of those vehicles just means that it's a medical hospital unit that retrieves injured soldiers that are on a battlefield there's always a shipment of those in with a military vehicle order to replace and damaged or worn out vehicles.
The best part about this is that consist had more military vehicles than entire arsenals of many countries
Yup, your tax money at work. All these are, of course, absolutely essential for your defense.
Are you using consist as a noun here or missing a noun?
@@timtibbetts4193 I assume as a noun, since it could refer to a train consist.

If you look at the second truck, the turret cover has collapsed into the cab. Someone’s getting a nice surprise when they unload that one.
Easy fix
Just a little snowy inside
I hope you describe it more specificaly and put the tine so we can also see.
john eric santiago Look at the first green truck at 0:48 - 0:55 seconds. It has a hole in the roof.
brvfd822 ohh. Well yeah. They will got problem if it rains
This is pretty trippy...getting out of your car and having a freight passing you on your left, just a few feet away.
People in La Grange think nothing of it. Out of towners always get a kick out of it.
There’s a train that runs down the middle of a street in Anaheim, Ca. Somewhat similar to this.
Nice, seen several of these in person over the years. Always a treat!
While driving back to Canada from Fargo I seen a military fleet driving south on I-29.. a few days before this video was uploaded
I love how the train just casually goes down the middle of the street. Lol
