  • Four years. Seven cities. Zero tests. It’s a new university called Minerva.
    The difference in Minerva’s approach:
“It’s practical education grounded in the real world, and that’s what Minerva does,” says Ben Nelson, founder of Minerva University. "I realized that what the universities are supposed to be is not what they are."
Minerva’s educational philosophy focuses on four core aspects: the ability to think critically, to think creatively, to communicate effectively, and to be able to apply those skills to solve real-world problems.
Rather than passively absorb knowledge in a classroom, Minerva students are presented with real-world challenges to tackle in seven cities all around the world, like Berlin, Seoul, and Hyderabad.

Sent here by Jade Bowler and this approach to University makes sense and it is absolutely amazing 💗

The biggest problem with this university would be to go through the tedious visa application process for every freaking country's uni they have to go to every few months. Madness.

That’s very interesting and encouraging. I wish it would be possible to enter not only top students in the world. The world needs more problem solvers.

Is not only the top students. I got in and I'm not a top student

I watch someone's videos who goes there. Honestly I can see how much pressure that person is under. They seem to do more work than students at traditional universities and it's a very go go go schedule. Some of us need the stability that traditional universities provide. This university is also inaccessible to so many. They also continued to send their students abroad during the pandemic, which is just irresponsible.

It's not that they are inaccessible its intentionally set for you often to not be able to go.

This is the best method of education we know of so far. But not scalable, therefore, it would be a massive deterrent for investors.

Interesting. What makes it not scalable, and are there other models that would be more so?
Traditional universities have often run up against troubles expanding their campuses and enrollments beyond a certain point, so it's interesting to consider the alternatives.

Contrary to what the person in the video said, I don't think it represents the most socio-economic diverse range of students at all - the fees are super expensive, not to mention the price of living in and travelling to multiple countries

This concept is in dire need of expansion to natural settings as well. Students spending years in nature, immersed in studies like rewilding and biomimicry, bringing that knowlege back to cities to create clean, sustainable and thriving environments.

The biggest problem at university is group work rated on result instead of work.

So is this an ad for Minerva or some sort of “roast” of other unis? If the only way of promoting your product is by putting other products down maybe your product isn’t that good to begin with 🙂
