For me her voice is BEAUTIFUL. There're so many people in this industry without talent and they don't even write their own songs and are more famous than Carly, as a example Selena Gomez and others. So i don't see anything wrong with this beautiful acoustic

Hmmm, seems so many people listen to auto-tuned singing that when they hear a real person singing with an imperfect voice, they automatically accuse the person of not being able to sing... very interesting indeed. No wonder real artists can't make it into mainstream these days. Oh, and btw this girl does write her own songs, so regardless of her singing talent, she is an artist.
You are correct that voices can be imperfect here and there because singing is very difficult and people don't understand that (probably because they never took voice lessons and because of auto-tune). Unfortunately, I do agree that she cannot sing. She pushes her vowels and sings from her throat instead of with her diaphragm to support her notes which is exactly how "singers" destroy thwir vocal chords and have to "take breaks" (they're really resting their vocal chords), retire early, or sound even worse when they are older.
Makes me think of Jack White, that uses guitars that aren't tuned properly on purpouse. I think there is a lot of Perfection to be found in Imperfection

She also has a talent for never going off pitch, which is incredibly hard to do. The fact that she can stay on pitch the entire time totally compensates the fact that she can't sing as loudly as other singers. At least for me.(:

This totally supercedes the released version with all the bells and whistles added- she can seriously sing, no autotune or FX there whatsoever, sounded so so much more awesome. But if light drums and a single slightly overdriven electric guitar playing some melodic lead tactfully and a solo, this would be utter 🔥 to my ears- my fav band might be Megadeth but I am a sucker for a catchy as hell melody as well and not ashamed to admit it 🤘
Edit: You can tell they are seriously enjoying playing it this way too, just look at their faces- after being pushed and pulled every which way by producers and record companies, they just get a chance to do what they love- play some f'n music 👌

The guitar sounds so magical. I love it. Don't care if she's got the pop energy, it sounds good. Acoustic doesn't always have to be mellow. This is questionably better than the electric

She did perfectly fine. Having a completely different tone and voice from her auto-tuned one is perfectly normal since they change it so much... She sang every note in tune, although she was "pitchy" but pretty much every live performance will have slight pitch problems regardless. Pop star haters will be pop star haters to try and not be mainstream. That pretty much explains every hater here.

This song is total shit, but with the help of music editors, it has became a catchy melody, with a funny music video AND she's kinda simply cute.
Add one or two more songs that'll hit billboard 50 and she could probably retire at 30, with nobody but the core of her fans remembering the days when she was famous.

Whether the switch from talking to singing is true, idk, it's hard to catch. But what I was saying is that you can't sing live and sound like a recording that has loads of effects added. A voice can't naturally do that so how is she going to sound like the recording? So taking effects INTO consideration, I think she sounds really similar. That's what's confusing to me. When I think she sounds good, someone else (you in this case) says she's "one of the worst examples" of sounding different.
She doesn't sing very well live. Putting aside how different she sounds from the recording, it sounds like there are parts where she goes from singing to talking. Take around 0:29 seconds, she jumps from talking to singing, and you can keep finding that as the song goes on. While yes, there are some artists who don't sing exactly like how they sound (although there are a good portion who sound the same), this is one of the worst examples.
No doubt about that (referring to the first line). I honestly wish people did sound like the recordings. But that's impossible if the recording has loads of effects added. In which case, you don't even want the artist to sound like that recording -_-. My point was that dance music can't sound the same live. In terms of dance music, sounding like the recording is an impossible factor in determining whether someone can sing.
I kind of have to agree that people today become celebs very quickly but I think she sounds pretty good live (Actually I like this song acoustic better~)
Anyway, back in the olden days people really did sound a lot like their studio recordings so I guess having little technology - compared to today - is a bit better?

If she had just done the song like this I probably would have liked it, might be a little lacking in lyrics but its pretty cute as an offhand kind of song and she can actually sing really well but the autotuned electronicy poppiness of the actual song just made it impossible to listen to :/ nevertheless this is actually lovely and a nice surprise to what I had been expecting :)

shes not flat much at all, shes just extending the cresendo more, cause thats the best part of the song... compared to other female fun pop singers, her singing voice would probably be up there...

What happened to the days when people respected good music? All I ever hear is over produced garbage from singers who are hardly mediocre, yet they receive so much praise, as if they actually wrote the shit music with the band, and actually performed the music on the album like they had a halfway decent voice.

When her single "Call Me Maybe" came out is when she went platinum and got the fame she has now. You should probably do some research before ignorantly posting something about someone who has talent. Well I think it's good:) if she's putting her self out there and making a career out of it then good for her!!! That's better than a lot of you can do I'm not a fan but I respect that she's trying. yeah X factor can be a bit of a gimmick because "the X factor" is a very broad and undefined terminology. it takes into incorporation how they look and their attitude and then how they sing. Simon looks at it purely from a "who can I sell the most records with?" perspective. granted susan boyle was an exception...but she was on a different show :)
It's called connections. :) no matter how talended you are if you don't have connections to an agent, producer or a record label you are pretty much just a talent. If I were your friend, start demos, be more exposed to the community, youtube is a great platform but very competitive, working your way up is best when you are exposed to the right people. GL

I can understand why people are saying she sounds bad, but It's not because she's a bad singer, its because this is mixed HORRIBLY, the guitar is way to loud, she's not loud enough, and you can barely hear the dude on the mandolin (I think its a mandolin anyways). But yeah there are other acoustic versions of this song on youtube where she sounds way better :).
You do realize that it's impossible for ANYONE to sound like the recording of their dance song if it has loads of effects. The purpose of the effects is to add to the dance feel. Why should they sound the same live? She has very obvious talent and I think she sounds great. It confuses me how many people think she can't sing well. I just don't get it.

People who doesn't really like it, is probably because their not from Canada. They are probably used to the voices they originate from. Like me, I'm from Britain, and I'm used to the our accent. So hearing this is 'different' and not really my cup of tea. It sounds alright, I suppose.
I know there will be variations in opinions as to how well she sings, but to blatantly say "She can't sing" is what shocks me, because it seems obvious that she sounds good. And I'm not talking about whether her voice annoys you or whether you like it. I mean recognizing her talent.

Um... she is famous =). Since when does vocals have anything to do with being famous? You just have to be likable and know how to perform. Autotunes makes it unnecessary to have very good vocals.

her voice is so amazingly raspy and i think she needs to work a little bit on her lower notes in order to be more loud, or maybe the microfone was too low anyways her tone of voice is amazing

I said you don't need good vocals to be famous =). They have all kind of stuff in their studio to make someone with decent vocal sound really good. Talent is definitely needed.

Pretty sure it's just because she would of used autotune while making the album version. It's what most people do these days. I personally think her voice sounds fine in this.
