Bare minimum there has to be compensation and oversight in the future. This employing private companies to fight war, to divorce yourself from the responsibility and accountability standards that the rest of the military are held to, is ridiculous. Private contractors need to be punished twice as much, on both a personal level and a corporate level, or companies will just do what they want with no consequence, or see compensation as something to be paid as the price of business, rather than ensuring such behaviour is firmly stamped out. The fact that this came from the top down, as well as being endemic within the unit stationed there. No doubt they combed the psychometric entry tests to find sadists and psycopaths to guard the victims, I say victims because these people were not treated as prisoners in any sense of the word, save that they were confined. Any person with a shred of common decency would have shut the place down, so they ensured there were no decent people stationed there. Utter disgust isn't close to sufficient to convey my feelings on how people were treated. War or not, a human being is entitled to some rights, by our own laws. That they were able to torture and murder with impunity, and that the practice hasn't been stopped, only buried. The same private contractors have a new contract. Not only have they not been reprimanded, they've been rewarded. It's a disgrace to that flag they're so proud of. Cameras are now prohibited items, so there won't be any more exposes. No doubt those private companies run things now so they can just fire anyone that's implicated, and carry on as before, claiming they've removed the source of the problem. It works for those in charge everywhere else, so they'll do the same with the army. No more troops dying abroad, just mercenaries. No public outcry. Torture isn't ethically or morally wrong in times of war. Pain doesn't work properly, because many will just make things up to stop the pain. However, stress torture, prohibition of things the body requires to function fully (sleep, water, food etc) works fantastically. There's nothing wrong with it, you need to do anything possible to get information on your enemy, to get the upper hand. Now, airplane pilots on the other hand? Drone controllers, artillery controllers? They're war crimes, they kill innocent civilians and cause mass suffering, that people call collateral damage

Open/closed questions, leading questions, hints etc etc. Saying to a person "did you murder this child?" (closed PLUS leading question) Will have different results to "what did you do this night" (open completely.) In the first instance. You not only give them only an option of a yes or no answer.... They may elaborate, but it is yes or no.... But also use phrases that have harsh connotations "murder" is brutal, illegal, taking of a life. It is made even worse with the use of "child". If you say "have a dispute with" it gives them grounds to make excuses, if you humanise the victim, or do it in a friendly manner, as though you're chatting, and having a laugh, you'd get a different reponse. Now, let's say you just ask them what they do we're doing on a particular day.... No matter what answer they give, they get torture,.... You don't ask them anything more, you just allow them to give you the information. You don't beat them, you don't starve them of sleep, you don't dehydrate them or use stress positions. Because all of this has side effects, people can withdraw into themselves, create alternative personalities to emerse themselves in a made up world. Instead, you use methods that heal. You allow them to sleep. You make sure they are fed and watered, hopeful that one day they can escape. Ask any person who is confined... They want escape. Healing means you can do it again, but they will remember. Sleep makes people dream, so it's with them again and again. Rest, they won't ever rest, they will just think about the next time it is going to happen. They need to be fed and watered, because it means that they feel everything, their mind stays lucid, they can think and feel. They are strong and healthy to take the next round of torture. Theyre surviving...the default for anything that lives isfp find a way to survive. You just ask them time and again random questions, then tell the truth: "that isn't what I want to know"... It'll take a while, but you'll get the truth. Water torture, beatings, humiliation, strangulation, etc all wears a person down and makes them a bruised version of a former self. There are things that you can do to cause immense pain but will leave people in almost the same physical state as when you started. If done correctly, it could a long lign tiem, but you'll get the answers you want.

I am sorry you have met people like that, but I have showed this video to my friends here in Finland and they were all disgusted and horrified by it. I never tought about iraq before 3 years... when i met my first boyfriend he happened to be from Bagdad... he introduced me to his Friends which were also Iraqis and i have to say i never saw such beautiful amd warm hearted people we were drinking and eating together and no one has put an eye on me while my ex had his eyes all the time on me which was so adorable... sadly we broke up before a year but we still friends but it was soooo sooo beautiful and my ex will allways have a place in my heart because i swear iraqi people are so cute and good and guest friendly people how can u treat such lovely people like that? Disgusting. Nailed, red handed, with photos of them gloating over a man they helped murder, and there's no compensation? What the fuck! Bare minimum there has to be compensation and oversight in the future. This employing private companies to fight war, to divorce yourself from the responsibility and accountability standards that the rest of the military are held to, is ridiculous. Private contractors need to be punished twice as much, on both a personal level and a corporate level, or companies will just do what they want with no consequence, or see compensation as something to be paid as the price of business, rather than ensuring such behaviour is firmly stamped out.
The fact that this came from the top down, as well as being endemic within the unit stationed there. No doubt they combed the psychometric entry tests to find sadists and psycopaths to guard the victims, I say victims because these people were not treated as prisoners in any sense of the word, save that they were confined. Any person with a shred of common decency would have shut the place down, so they ensured there were no decent people stationed there.
Utter disgust isn't close to sufficient to convey my feelings on how people were treated. War or not, a human being is entitled to some rights, by our own laws. That they were able to torture and murder with impunity, and that the practice hasn't been stopped, only buried. The same private contractors have a new contract. Not only have they not been reprimanded, they've been rewarded. It's a disgrace to that flag they're so proud of. Cameras are now prohibited items, so there won't be any more exposes. No doubt those private companies run things now so they can just fire anyone that's implicated, and carry on as before, claiming they've removed the source of the problem. It works for those in charge everywhere else, so they'll do the same with the army. No more troops dying abroad, just mercenaries. No public outcry. America is a cesspit and it's taken the UK along for the ride.
Don't let anybody fool you, neither we in the UK, nor those living in America, live in a democracy. Nor are we free. In the UK we no longer have freedom of association, freedom of assembly or freedom of speech. Currently in the UK they're working on removing our freedom to protest.
What those people did needs retribution. I can totally see why America is known as the great Satan, in light of this. There are always rotten apples, but someone always needs to have oversight to remove them before they taint the whole barrel.
To all those affected, please know that only the smallest minority of us are like those scum. Sadly they find their way to positions of power, and positions where they can abuse, on a regular basis. Pain doesn't work properly, because many will just make things up to stop the pain.
However, stress torture, prohibition of things the body requires to function fully (sleep, water, food etc) works fantastically.

Regarding the merits of the success of torture though? No, it's not necessarily true to STATE it does not work.
There are methods of asking questions that can lead you to the answer you want... Open/closed questions, leading questions, hints etc etc.
Saying to a person
"did you murder this child?"
(closed PLUS leading question)
Will have different results to
"what did you do this night" (open completely.)
In the first instance. You not only give them only an option of a yes or no answer.... They may elaborate, but it is yes or no.... But also use phrases that have harsh connotations "murder" is brutal, illegal, taking of a life. It is made even worse with the use of "child".
If you say "have a dispute with" it gives them grounds to make excuses, if you humanise the victim, or do it in a friendly manner, as though you're chatting, and having a laugh, you'd get a different reponse.
Now, let's say you just ask them what they do we're doing on a particular day.... No matter what answer they give, they get torture,.... You don't ask them anything more, you just allow them to give you the information.
You don't beat them, you don't starve them of sleep, you don't dehydrate them or use stress positions.
Because all of this has side effects, people can withdraw into themselves, create alternative personalities to emerse themselves in a made up world.
Instead, you use methods that heal.
You allow them to sleep.
You make sure they are fed and watered, hopeful that one day they can escape. Ask any person who is confined... They want escape.
Healing means you can do it again, but they will remember.
Sleep makes people dream, so it's with them again and again.
Rest, they won't ever rest, they will just think about the next time it is going to happen.
They need to be fed and watered, because it means that they feel everything, their mind stays lucid, they can think and feel. They are strong and healthy to take the next round of torture. Theyre surviving...the default for anything that lives isfp find a way to survive.
You just ask them time and again random questions, then tell the truth: "that isn't what I want to know"... It'll take a while, but you'll get the truth.
Water torture, beatings, humiliation, strangulation, etc all wears a person down and makes them a bruised version of a former self.
There are things that you can do to cause immense pain but will leave people in almost the same physical state as when you started. If done correctly, it could a long lign tiem, but you'll get the answers you want.
