Well, this version which is thrown actually doesn't have that trait. The thrown version is stronger than the stabbing one, but it doesn't have the insta death curse. Though dodging was still out of the question.

He cant, when Lancer threw Gae Bolg or rather when he invoked it true name there was no dodging it as if archer ran it would just follow him the only way to survive at that point was to block it. Though the other use of the spear is more deadly against 1v1s (the way he used it against Saber) as it cannot be dodged nor blocked as it would always aim for the heart. Which was a mistake on Lancers part I guess since he didnt use the anti unit effect but instead used the anti army one but its understandable since he would not have expected Archer to suddenly use a shield to block it. If it wasnt Archer EMIYA who was his opponent but other others with the exceptions of a few they would have died. Since who would expect an archer to carry a shield that can block noble phantasm with the exceptions of Gilgamesh or Emiya.

He has "Independent Action" exclusively for Archers, making them last longer in battle even without a master, which gives them time for other masters to make contract with them, unlike the other classes. Rho Aias, which is considered a DEFENSE Noble Phantasm, is just one of the COUNTLESS Noble Phantasms he has on his arsenal related to Unlimited Blade Works. Every weapon he makes related to swords gets RANK UP by 1. He is basically copying Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon, only more in combat and swords. Also, unlike the other servants, after the Holy Grail War he's STILL bound by the COUNTER FORCE, meaning he goes back in his job while the rest are dead and won't retain their memories, except for Artoria who is recognized by the Holy Grail. EMIYA STILL continues his job meaning, he gets progress in honing his strengths and weaknesses, making him get STRONGER(proof: EMIYA alter, depending the choice he makes). EMIYA was fighting Lancer using his OWN MANA and haven't used his Reality Marble yet so who knows how the fight would turn out if he did. Also, mind you know? At the fate route with Artoria, EMIYA with the Reality Marble managed to kill Berseker 6 TIMES. He was fighting a 7ft. Behemoth HEAD-ON and he managed to do that so what about Lancer who is HIS SIZE with a 1-time Guts. :d
@@kraugelh.4924 Just a correction, NPs copied with Unlimited Blade Work don't rank up, they rank down. Regardless of whether they are swords or not. Swords are just much easier and cost less mana due to his origin and affinity. Tracing works via EMIYA's senses which is mainly his sight, but there is only so much information he can obtain via sight alone hence why his copies are never perfect copies, and thus rank down. The only way he has to rank up the weapons is by turning them to Broken Phantasms, or be very familiar with the object he is tracing for years such as Avalon.
@@DavidS-1278 This. Archer pretty much only has one counter for Lancer which is UBW, and he could only use it once that night. This doesn't mean he was fucking around, it was a smart preservation of power because Archer is kinda broken but he has a minuscule mana pool.
