I've dated Ukrainian women and my experience has been very positive. A few pointers: 1) Eastern European women ( and Asian, African and Middle Eastern women ) look to the man as the provider. It is historical, cultural and actually sensible as men have better jobs and salaries in those regions of the world. 2) Humor is a individual thing. If you known the mindset of the girl, you can discover what makes her laugh. 3) Dating agencies or night club girls all want money - irrespective where you are around the world. 4) In a region where there are more women than men ( 1/3rd of Russian & Ukrainian men are chronic alcoholics )of course a woman is going to overstate their values. This is natural. Is the equivalent of a American or English woman saying that she is good in bed ( when she is not ). I like Ukrainian women. In general they are attractive, sensual, fun, intelligent and good fun. Times are hard in the Ukraine now. Well that's weird, l'm British and actually had a totally different experience. I visited Lviv last November and had one of the best holidays ever, I honestly can't wait to go back. People I met were genuinely nice and l'm still in touch with them. My experience in Ukraine was way better then say, Poland or Latvia.

Also, my woman works, and likes to be financially independent. More like reasons why not to date a Western male. At the end of the day, you are who you surround yourself with. If that's what you're looking for, that's who you are going to attract. From what I can already tell is that despite trying to make it seem like you're being considerate and have all this "experience", you're not taking into consideration the differences in culture, traditions, and demographics, in addition to the obvious generalizations that were made throughout the video. 1) Gold-digging/Mobile ATM's: What's considered "gold-digging" and "toxic masculinity" in the West are norms in Eastern Europe. There's nothing wrong with a woman expecting for a man to be financially stable considering he is the breadwinner/the provider while women are responsible for other duties. Do some women exaggerate with this? Yes, as they do in just about any country. Additionally, you also have aspects of there being more men than women on average. 53.9% of the overall population is female and let's not forget about poverty either which adds on to a woman's concern for her need for financial security. 2) Humour: Despite having lived in the states for nearly a decade, I still cannot understand the humour. I find it unintelligent and moreso dumb than funny. Stand up comedies consist of one night stands and vulgarity, yet us "foreigners" would be the ones considered to be lacking in humour. We communicate our jokes through anecdotes and through politically based comedy which naturally differentiates from whatever humour is popularized in the West. 3) Basing your opinions off of interviewing a friend who doesn't speak Ukrainian or Russian and friends who just come to Ukraine for holiday? Hmm, doesn't take a person with a high IQ to wonder what these particular friends were/are looking for. Unlike in Western countries even women who choose to live a casual lifestyle in Ukraine still expect to be courted even if short-term. You can always stick to your native countries where women are okay with having casual sex and do not expect to be wined or dined. 4) Scams: You're going to judge the type of women but not the type of men who go through marriage agencies and use Tinder? It's like expecting to have a healthy meal while ordering off of the value menu in McDonald's. I wouldn't give a man the time of day if I knew that he even has Tinder on his phone whether it's in Ukraine or any Western country for that matter. 5) Overestimated Value: Subjective and individualistic. I can see this being true but on the flipside, Ukrainian women put a lot of effort in their appearance and in maintaining it. Moreover, they are also skilled in the kitchen and in their womanly duties. I can see how too much confidence can be an issue but once again it boils down to where you are looking for these types of women. You target a posh woman in a posh club, not sure what the expectation would be then. I don't see how this characteristic would be specific to Ukrainian women. Overall, pretty disappointed in this video. Of course, you're entitled to your opinion but your opinion isn't a fact and you brought forth zero evidence when backing up any of the claims you made. Hopefully, you needn't spend much longer in Ukraine in any pursuit of a woman if your opinion is so low of us Ukrainian women.
I was looking for similar videos to better understand Ukrainian culture and women, so I appreciate your comment because you add then other side of this story. He does list issues wealthier men have in dating, but it is universal as you point out. In the US this is the average American girl he described, minus the beauty and femininity. Is there really a big problem seeing by women when men use Tinder? Like in the US everyone uses it, sure mostly to sleep around, but also the more mature and serious people will use dating apps because it is convenient. I'm actually from Odessa. I would say that your review is pretty accurate, but I'd like to clarify that this doesnt apply to the majority of ukrainian girls. It's more like a bad sheep. I did used to date a lot (i'm married now) - and its part of ukrainian culture to expect man to pay for the bills, and when it comes to foreigners it goes even worse as girls start to use it for their advantage. Actually dating with foreigners is not so widespread as you may think - so if they do, they expect to have fun. clicked this as a Ukrainian-American woman thinking I would be offended but it was actually very interesting and I can definitely see the truth in some of those things but I think most could happen anywhere. I agree with you 100% on the first one though, there is definitely a difference in attitudes toward dating and relationships that personally has caused some friction between myself (growing up in America) and my family (growing up in Ukraine).

Stop using the term "traditional society", it's actually nothing to do with it. On the contrary, communism brought an egalitarian society with 99% of people being pretty simple and relatively with the same income, so people would get married from other reasons than money. In the 90's, things changed dramatically: the fear of poverty on one hand and the temptation for richness on the other hand, transformed women. The correct term is not "traditional society", but simply "materialism".

I think this young man is wrong as far as the majority of Ukrainian ladies. I am older than this man. But, I lived in Ukraine for 4 years. I dated a number of ladies ( some just once and other for longer) until I met the right one! In life you will have some people try and take advantage of you. But, one of the best parts of life is learning what you like and dislike and what you want and need in your life. The one thing I found special about ladies from Ukraine is they all want to love and care for you first. Then money and material are second. They want to know you are going to love them. Otherwise, they will move on. Face it gentlemen. What makes Ladies attracted to men is being able to show that you can love, protect and keep them secure. Whether you like it or not you don't really have any value to them if you can't do those things. I understand that you don't want to get taken advantage of but the bottom line is if you want to have someone in your life who's going to love you unconditionally you have to protect them and love them unconditionally. It's nonsense to say that all Ukrainian girls are going to take advantage of you in some financial way. When most of the time whatever Ukrainian ladies can get they usually appreciate way more than most of the ladies in other countries that I have met. Having lived for a long time in Ukraine and speaking Russian fluently, I can tell that they are nice and lovely at the beginning, then once your are attached to them, they start playing that "mind game" (making you jealous, manipulating, using you, testing you all the time) and drive you crazy. You have to know that Ukraine (and Slavic countries in general) is a matriarchy, despite the pseudo macho culture. In general, while the guy shows off how manly he is (in an over exaggerated way), the wife manages the finances, makes the important decisions, even if the man brings in more money. Slavic women are very emancipated actually. Contrary to what you can think, western Europe is a way more patriarcal society. The wage gap is way smaller in Eastern Europe between men and women, and women have often jobs with high responsibilities. And also: most of them have a blatant lack of humour and cannot understand self derision or irony, and feel constantly offended.

I have traveled to Ukraine several times for work and a close friend actually married a Ukrainian girl and she is awesome. She is a great mom, loyal wife, hard working and after being married for 10 years and 3 kids later she just gets more awesome. But, I know what this guys means and have seen it first hand. In Ukrainian language word "wife" is "дружина", that means "a friend", as well as "married couple" is "подружжя" in Ukrainian that means "to be friends". So Ukrainians base their relationships in the marriage on being friends first of all, that's been in their mentality for thousands years.

These are merely differences of culture. Imagine you visited a tribe of hunter-gatherers in Papua-New Guinea.. and local girls didn't give you the time of your life because you have no idea how to shoot a bow-and-arrow or skin a rabbit.. and would you say they are somehow bad people? No. They live in different conditions from you, and their way of valuing a potential mate derives directly from their conditions. They have no duty to adjust to your conditions, if they do not live in them. It should work that way anywhere, in the West or East etc. As far as the restaurant is concerned, these are a group of people sharing a table, and each is responsible for what they order. Hello Conor, good video! I have been travelling to Ukraine for the last 11 years. During this time I've had my share of bad experiences and the worst were in Odessa. However I would like to point out that there are many women that are very nice, family oriented and really looking for a partner. I must say when guys like myself go to Ukraine in search of a partner it is a fact that we look in the wrong places without doing any research expecting to meet a nice beautiful woman who will jump into our arms, that does not happen! As a Ukrainian myself I can tell that this is true for a percentage of population just as in every other country in the world. But it depends on how you are looking a lot.

Good video but I personally disagree, I am Mexican and be three 3 times so far and I meet excellent ladies in all senses, of course some ask for expensive things but is up to you to do it or in a very diplomatic way reject for the moment and they understood. Met a few Ukranian's, and they seemed friendly at first, but after a while, I felt they were pretty indifferent and cold, not sure but didn't find them really friendly and open at heart.

I've dated Ukrainian women and my experience has been very positive. A few pointers:
1) Eastern European women ( and Asian, African and Middle Eastern women ) look to the man as the provider. It is historical, cultural and actually sensible as men have better jobs and salaries in those regions of the world.
2) Humor is a individual thing. If you known the mindset of the girl, you can discover what makes her laugh.
3) Dating agencies or night club girls all want money - irrespective where you are around the world.
4) In a region where there are more women than men ( 1/3rd of Russian & Ukrainian men are chronic alcoholics )of course a woman is going to overstate their values. This is natural. Is the equivalent of a American or English woman saying that she is good in bed ( when she is not ).
I like Ukrainian women. In general they are attractive, sensual, fun, intelligent and good fun.
Times are hard in the Ukraine now. But if you go with a genuine interest to find a friend, or a partner, or a good wife or girlfriend, I am sure you will be successful. But if you go with $100 in your pocket and expect half of the country, stay home and work more overtime! To get what you paid for. Well that's weird, l'm British and actually had a totally different experience. I visited Lviv last November and had one of the best holidays ever, I honestly can't wait to go back. People I met were genuinely nice and l'm still in touch with them. My experience in Ukraine was way better then say, Poland or Latvia.

More like reasons why not to date a Western male. At the end of the day, you are who you surround yourself with. If that's what you're looking for, that's who you are going to attract. From what I can already tell is that despite trying to make it seem like you're being considerate and have all this "experience", you're not taking into consideration the differences in culture, traditions, and demographics, in addition to the obvious generalizations that were made throughout the video.
1) Gold-digging/Mobile ATM's: What's considered "gold-digging" and "toxic masculinity" in the West are norms in Eastern Europe. There's nothing wrong with a woman expecting for a man to be financially stable considering he is the breadwinner/the provider while women are responsible for other duties. Do some women exaggerate with this? Yes, as they do in just about any country. Additionally, you also have aspects of there being more men than women on average. 53.9% of the overall population is female and let's not forget about poverty either which adds on to a woman's concern for her need for financial security.
2) Humour: Despite having lived in the states for nearly a decade, I still cannot understand the humour. I find it unintelligent and moreso dumb than funny. Stand up comedies consist of one night stands and vulgarity, yet us "foreigners" would be the ones considered to be lacking in humour. We communicate our jokes through anecdotes and through politically based comedy which naturally differentiates from whatever humour is popularized in the West.
3) Basing your opinions off of interviewing a friend who doesn't speak Ukrainian or Russian and friends who just come to Ukraine for holiday? Hmm, doesn't take a person with a high IQ to wonder what these particular friends were/are looking for. Unlike in Western countries even women who choose to live a casual lifestyle in Ukraine still expect to be courted even if short-term. You can always stick to your native countries where women are okay with having casual sex and do not expect to be wined or dined.
4) Scams: You're going to judge the type of women but not the type of men who go through marriage agencies and use Tinder? It's like expecting to have a healthy meal while ordering off of the value menu in McDonald's. I wouldn't give a man the time of day if I knew that he even has Tinder on his phone whether it's in Ukraine or any Western country for that matter.
5) Overestimated Value: Subjective and individualistic. I can see this being true but on the flipside, Ukrainian women put a lot of effort in their appearance and in maintaining it. Moreover, they are also skilled in the kitchen and in their womanly duties. I can see how too much confidence can be an issue but once again it boils down to where you are looking for these types of women. You target a posh woman in a posh club, not sure what the expectation would be then. I don't see how this characteristic would be specific to Ukrainian women.
Overall, pretty disappointed in this video. Of course, you're entitled to your opinion but your opinion isn't a fact and you brought forth zero evidence when backing up any of the claims you made. Hopefully, you needn't spend much longer in Ukraine in any pursuit of a woman if your opinion is so low of us Ukrainian women.

I'm actually from Odessa. I would say that your review is pretty accurate, but I'd like to clarify that this doesnt apply to the majority of ukrainian girls. It's more like a bad sheep. I did used to date a lot (i'm married now) - and its part of ukrainian culture to expect man to pay for the bills, and when it comes to foreigners it goes even worse as girls start to use it for their advantage. Actually dating with foreigners is not so widespread as you may think - so if they do, they expect to have fun. The good news is that when it comes to relationships girls understand that its based on partnership and equal responsobility.

clicked this as a Ukrainian-American woman thinking I would be offended but it was actually very interesting and I can definitely see the truth in some of those things but I think most could happen anywhere. I think this young man is wrong as far as the majority of Ukrainian ladies. I am older than this man. But, I lived in Ukraine for 4 years. I dated a number of ladies ( some just once and other for longer) until I met the right one! In life you will have some people try and take advantage of you. But, one of the best parts of life is learning what you like and dislike and what you want and need in your life. The one thing I found special about ladies from Ukraine is they all want to love and care for you first. Then money and material are second. They want to know you are going to love them. Otherwise, they will move on. Face it gentlemen. What makes Ladies attracted to men is being able to show that you can love, protect and keep them secure. Whether you like it or not you don't really have any value to them if you can't do those things. I understand that you don't want to get taken advantage of but the bottom line is if you want to have someone in your life who's going to love you unconditionally you have to protect them and love them unconditionally. It's nonsense to say that all Ukrainian girls are going to take advantage of you in some financial way. When most of the time whatever Ukrainian ladies can get they usually appreciate way more than most of the ladies in other countries that I have met. 1. Yes, men should show us that they can protect us financially. It has always been like that. 1. Asking foreigners if they have troubles in finding english speaking local friends in Ukraine is as ridiculous as asking if you can check the time on your phone. You just have to think about it, don't be lazy ;) Ukraine is a country where you dont meet tons of foreigners at work or even on the streets. So who are we supposed to practice our english with? Or do you really think that's possible to speak a language without practicing it? All my friends WANT to speak english, but they can't, cause they need to go to live abroad to learn it. So yeah, if foreigners come to Ukraine more often, ukrainians will get better in english, that's simple as that.
2. "Marry a foreigner" agencies... a HUGE bussiness in Ukraine? lol That really makes me think he doesn't know a shit about Ukraine if he even says that. Sorry if that sounds rude. We have those agencies just like all the other non TOP countries do have. Why would that be so surprising? And especially why would it make you think regular ukrainian girls are interested in stuff like that? Or if some are, can you say you don't have dumb girls in your country? ;)
3. Men pay for your coffee when you go on a date. There always are exceptions, but in general Ukraine is like that. Just accept that. I expect a man I go on a date with to pay for my coffee, I expect him to bring me flowers (not on a first date tho, that would be weird), i expect him to do all those small things for me, cause that's a simple attention and care. 1. I can speak foreign language, although I have never lived abroad. School and university was enough for an average level of speaking. Practicing with friends and a teacher in the class was enough for that.
2. I have never had an intention to meet a woman abroad. I am just speaking about other people who can not afford to live in another country for months or years unless they are retired millionaires. They often come there for a few days or a week for exact reason - to have a date, maybe to find a wife, which is a bad idea from the very beginning.

4. I did not speak about you or your friends. I spoke about the girls who meet foreigners from richer countries. Very often they are just the source of gold for them.

Having lived for a long time in Ukraine and speaking Russian fluently, I can tell that they are nice and lovely at the beginning, then once your are attached to them, they start playing that "mind game" (making you jealous, manipulating, using you, testing you all the time) and drive you crazy.
You have to know that Ukraine (and Slavic countries in general) is a matriarchy, despite the pseudo macho culture. In general, while the guy shows off how manly he is (in an over exaggerated way), the wife manages the finances, makes the important decisions, even if the man brings in more money.
Slavic women are very emancipated actually. Contrary to what you can think, western Europe is a way more patriarcal society. The wage gap is way smaller in Eastern Europe between men and women, and women have often jobs with high responsibilities.
And also: most of them have a blatant lack of humour and cannot understand self derision or irony, and feel constantly offended.
Like Russian I'm completely agree with you in all but lack of humor is just a cultural difference.

I have traveled to Ukraine several times for work and a close friend actually married a Ukrainian girl and she is awesome. She is a great mom, loyal wife, hard working and after being married for 10 years and 3 kids later she just gets more awesome.

In Ukrainian language word "wife" is "дружина", that means "a friend", as well as "married couple" is "подружжя" in Ukrainian that means "to be friends". So Ukrainians base their relationships in the marriage on being friends first of all, that's been in their mentality for thousands years.
In my travels I can't recall seeing single Ukrainian guys travelling internationally looking for love.
I think Ukrainian guys are curious about hooking up with foreigners but since their own girls are so pretty and outside of Ukraine is so much more expensive, they are not likely to travel specifically for that reason.

These are merely differences of culture. Imagine you visited a tribe of hunter-gatherers in Papua-New Guinea.. and local girls didn't give you the time of your life because you have no idea how to shoot a bow-and-arrow or skin a rabbit.. and would you say they are somehow bad people? No. They live in different conditions from you, and their way of valuing a potential mate derives directly from their conditions. They have no duty to adjust to your conditions, if they do not live in them. If you are the visitor, behave according to the local expectations or shut the f up and leave.. ;)

Hello Conor, good video! I have been travelling to Ukraine for the last 11 years. During this time I've had my share of bad experiences and the worst were in Odessa. However I would like to point out that there are many women that are very nice, family oriented and really looking for a partner.
I must say when guys like myself go to Ukraine in search of a partner it is a fact that we look in the wrong places without doing any research expecting to meet a nice beautiful woman who will jump into our arms, that does not happen!

Sounds to me to be the same ol same ol from the west. So why bother dealing with the language barrier and all the legal wranglin' hoops-n-headaches required to bring them to the states with no possibility of returning to sender.
Back in the mid 90's, life in the Ukraine was a lot more charming - one could say hello to a girl in a park, a street, ask her out and it often led to nice things. They were never sinister and all a bunch of nice girls. Post internet, new generation- things have changed apparently, sorry guys.

Accurate info for sure. My first dating encounter I tried the google translate method, just fails miserably, so inaccurate and difficult that one never gets a real mutual understanding. Next trip I learned some Russian and found a Ukrainian girl who speaks a little English...worked well, much better, engaged to her now. :)

Conor Clyne - Tsar Experience is apparently the largest county in Europe, cossacks roots, of course beautiful ladies. I was at Aurora Hotel which is good enough. It has also the largest flower clock of the world if I understood correctly. I contact one lady and she avoid to go to discotheque but instead choose go to nice restaurants, walk in park. It has large buildings from the Soviet era, and what I was impressed the most was the giants sunflowers jaja. I go by taxi from Kiev to Krivoy, around 6 hours trip. This lady meet me at Borispol Airport and then go together to the town. Was a nice trip.

#2, A lot of us in EU have difficulties with international humor, as we're afraid of coming off too facist.
This happens because you're speaking English with them, and not their native language, which takes away local idiotic jokes from being potentially shared.
#3, Sex sells and the east is a place harsh enough for them to want an escape, don't victim shame.

Same here) but I have watched that crap anyway to know what's being told about us. And gave a proper response in the comments. This is awful misconception and we have to defend ourselves from such western pigs.
Met a few Ukranian's, and they seemed friendly at first, but after a while, I felt they were pretty indifferent and cold, not sure but didn't find them really friendly and open at heart.
No 1 reason is what you say at the end.. bad behavior, or I would say strange/different character. I was dating this ukr woman who was beautiful, loved me, was educated, funny, energetic.. everything you want, except she was driving me crazy (maybe she was a little bit too ::) with being half the time on the phone, high maintenance, unreasonable demands for attention, perfection etc.. but she was just this sweet girl in the beginning, apparently they have a knack of growing into demanding monsters.. in the end, I left her so she can find the guy who can give her everything.. 10 years later she's still calling me.
