I bought one 8 years ago and loved it. Now in 2018 I also have an iPhone 7 plus which gives better images, detail, colour and less noise at the wide angle range. I still use the Canon for its optical zoom and have got some quite nice images of the moon.
What is the audio like during video. I have an older PowershotSX110 10X that I take to a lot of metal concerts and the sound quality is awful. The bass completely distorts the sound like crazy. My friends have a similar version in a Panasonic Lumix and it sounds like they are hooked into the sound board.

I had an old one my uncle had in the US, my mom found it in attic. Also there’s a green line to the far left on the screen.
@helike13 yes you can access video straightaway regardless of which shooting mode it's in, you just press red button when want to video... i have canon sx210 is... pretty good camera!
@JohnLeeMD actually you have a point. a 720p video with nice fps and quality should be enough and in that case I wouldn't shoot a video in 1080p mode but these two models are top of their class. so for comparison's sake I think both should have 1080p. but that is not a dealbreaker.
This bloke's reviews of cameras are among the best, or perhaps THE best Ive seen. Theres a fellow Brits reviews which are almost on a par (forgot his name) but really, I'll have to say this feller is the best - can't think of anyone better.

excellent review...i have the canon powershot sx210is, i got to say, it one of the best digital camera's i ever owned, very easy to use.. i had only for 2 days & went to a concert & captured some great video footage of Shakira performing on stage, the down side of the camera is, the battery life isn't not to long, but can buy spares batteries which are very cheap!
I got the same @ a swap meet for $25 this morning. It works so far. I am visiting a Best Buy to get a 128GB class 10 memory card for it tomorrow. [Update: I got my card today. I took some test footage. I played the video on my desktop PC and the shooting is perfect!!]
The video quality on this camera appears very sharp. I also like the built-in features that allow you to edit photos. It also supports a range of storage media (SD, SDHC, and Multimedia, to name a few). It does seem a bit pricey for the average camera user.
I think i like this canon more then the sony cybershot hx5v , altho the cyber shot has a bunch of bells and whistles , in the end i want good shots and video for the money and i think it sounds like the canon beats the cybershot there how do u guys feel about cybershot vs this canon >?

Good review, However I don't agree with you about the zoom lever. I like it much better than the rotary zoom on the power switch. I feel like I can grip the camera better with this switch. It is also more like a microforce control which I am use to as a professional camera assistant.

@AppleFanReviews battery life isn't to long, i would say 1hour of filming video is longest battery will last... though that the only downside of the canon sx210is i have found, but i did buy 2 spare batteries for as little as £3 each on eBay as back up batteries, so not a huge problem really!
wow i wish i could remember all those tech specs (or even understand them) when i am as stoned as this guy was..... especially take a look at how excited he is when he says aperture at 1:17!!!

@MrDampkring its pretty good in my opinion.... hardly missed a shot. flash lights it up pretty good. (i'm just a casual photographer though) i love this camera... what Pearlman talks about is pretty accurate.
in your panasonic dmc-zs7 review, you said that the dmc-zs7 has an intelligent suite. does the canon sx210 IS have a similar feature? If I wanted to point and shoot does the sx210 IS have like a scene recognition or something?
You nail it with what they need to do with this. It has everything I want except they skimped on the sensor. I really want to get this camera for the features but, for the money, I think I would definitely get higher quality images from the S90. Canon is still making us choose between nice video features and zoom or better low light performance and sharpness. Makes me wonder if I should wait another year on the superzoom and see if they get it all right next time. grrrr
Awesome, but a touch screen would be a step backwards. I had a sony cybershot, it took much more time to prepare for a shot because I had to use a touch screen. Time in money.
@Jenniwinter Just from a point of view for holding and shooting, the SX210 is superior. The SD series are very odd shaped, made for pockets. For the price I'd stick with the SX210. There's not really anyting the 4500 does that blows the away the SX210. Just my opinion.

I ordered the sx210 but after looking at your images i kind of wish i hadnt now..i also compared some images from flickr of the sx210 and the new sx30 power zoom the sx30 looks a lot more sharper image,,would you agree with that? i have the canon sx210is, which is pretty good & it been to two music concerts, but i felt it struggled with the zoom sometimes & focus, so i very recently considered getting the Lumix TZ20 with the hope of better quality zoom. but after field testing it, i do prefer the canon sx210is without a doubt, if anyone like see video's in question i did, just go to my youtube account and will see probelms i had, but i have to add, if not shakira fan, you won't like them! :))
@clix223 like clix223 says, from beginning it does get bit annoying, but once get uses't to the holding of the camera, you change your holding habits.. i have had my camera since early december, and it as gone through lots of test with alsorts of lighting conditions, most recent was a concert, HD video is awesome quality. :)
I feel so bad when my mom uses "auto" mode on this camera, I use this cam at its full potential. With some good work on lightroom, some ppl even think I have dslr lol.

I bought this camera few days back and so far so good, it produces really nice pictures and videos the zoom is great and it is easy to use
@bgomez1201 yes you can pop it down and it stays down and there is a little nob on the flash to manualy pop it up
