It’s ok to have that stuff! It lets you know that seed is passing through, for me hopefully it’s planting lol, keeps you lined up while no tilling into sprayed down land with out looking for row markers mark! So whether you invest a lot or little it all comes out in the end . Plus with the amount of acres you tend probably helps with fatigue. I thank you cousin Russ for watching the video and commenting! It’s always appreciated!
Looks good Scotty! Corn planters are starting to roll here! Mother nature is not letting up on the "winter like" weather, so it could be kinda tough this spring to get in the field, seems to not be warming up very fast, and wind is blowing way more then usual for April.
It’ll eventually get ready to happen there ,in my years of experience. Seed time and harvest! Makes you nervous though when you want to go but can’t . Patience. How’s school coming along? Thanks for watching the video and commenting Charles n John 👍🏻
@@gleanerk Just hooked the planter up yesterday actually. And college has been pretty tough the past month and a half, we are making it through, been a struggle, but taking it a day at a time.
I was thinking you had listed up the rows first. I caught that dig to Monsanto. I know what you mean bout that. It’s a shame that seed/ chemical companies say you can’t replant. We always replanted every other year. When we were farming we could take our seeds ( wheat, beans and corn) to a Southern States co-op to have them cleaned and treated to replant.
A Few Peanut farmers run what is called a Ripper-Hipper to throw up beds about a month before planting, then knock the tops off the beds when they plant.....Can do it with cotton also to make sure the seed is put in moist soil....less than 1 knuckle deep.... Two knuckles deep and you will never see it again
I certainly hope so for all of us! “ bountiful crop” . I just felt like trying it on a ridge to see if it’ll make better bushels. We have thin topsoil here .
That’s awesome you’re already in the field got your corn planted did you make any adjustments to the planner as to the rate of seed you’re putting into the ground or did you did you leave it like last year
I screwed up in a few places lol! I ran a 2 row beddder back when we did tobacco and we planted 4 rows at a time . My uncle and dad were very good teachers! Thanks for the kinds words also ! I appreciate that!
Shoot a crow and hang him it plain sight.........Crows are smart.... they aiways send a scout......when he sees the hanging crow he will signal stay away! We do this when the pecans start dropping......
Heck 3 ft tall eagle might scare me too lol! Just picking! Thanks for the idea, them crows can mess up a row or to . 🤬. Thanks Mike for the suggestion and being here, I appreciate that very much!
It was warm and dry up to today. Done turned cold and rain a inch or so . Rain good cold not so good lol ! Thanks for watching and commenting friend, I appreciate that very much!
Good to see you out there, Cousin Scott, getting the planting started. I hope to get some planting done soon, too, if the weather cooperates. Pretty rainy right now.
Did an excellent job from what I see. Been raining so much here no one has been able to get in the fields to plant. Sold my 1010ru and replaced it with something else
Yes 38 inch rows! It’s a experiment to see if I can increase my bushels here on the farm . Our topsoil here is thin . Thanks for the kind words Markis B , I appreciate that very much!
We call that ridge till up here i used to do the same thing and we did put everything in row with ridges and got good use of the fertilizer vs broadcasting. Only downfall was we had to setup equipment for it on 30 inch rows . We went away from it cause of cost to get tractors and equipment setup for it . I did 2 passes in one with the ridge tool with dry fertilizer and the anhydrous application. It took a big horse to pull it and it was a 60ft long train going across the field
Nice thing is that this fall prices will more then likely be at record highs. And unlike commercial farmers you have not locked in your sell price before first seed goes into ground. You should be able to get the available and probably high spot market pricing.
Well you definitely have a head start 😁. A few of my conventional neighbors are running 🤷♂️. Seems cool, but I think they’re watching the drought areas to the west and taking a gamble. Your field looks great 👍🏻.
Lord have mercy ! Cousin Scott you got corn in early this year ! I havent even been able to drive a tractor in the field yet and as of right now as I type this its snowing ! Well with it going in early are you going to plant wheat this fall after the corn comes off ? I think you a month ahead of the Big Time Farmers so I really hope you get a bumper crop ! Cousin Bandit

We ain't gonna have to put a cooler of beer on each end of the field to plow it are we?.....A black snake ain't gonna hurt his back crawlin down those rows is he? just joshing cuz
Still have seed left over so stay tuned ! Thanks to all who enjoy watching these videos and thanks to all subscribers new n old !
