I personally think it's harder to get into the hornline of Carolina Crown than it is to get into the hornline of any other Corps. It's hard to explain with words, but just seeing the warmups they do intimidates the hell out of me.
Congrats on all your hard work and it paying off. My sympathies for the virus putting a stop to it.... Don't give up....Don't ever give up.... Great tone and ability~!
Dude that's awesome! I'm currently contracted at music city right now, but it's too bad that tour was canceled. What was the technical etude that you played?
You shred dude! Just wondering what your main horn is. I gathered from the comments that euph isn't your main. It's super inspiring that there are others like me who pick up brass from another instrument to do DCI. I hope I can get my euph chops up for next summer!
@@caelanspidle3704 that’s inspiring as hell man im a bass clarinet player and would love to conduct, or if i have time, play mello for crown. they are my dream corps
Hey dude, I know its been a while since u posted this.. first of all, awesome audition! Secondly I wanted to ask whether there was any critique anything you needed to work on? What kinda stuff where they focusing on?
Hey man!, Thanks so much for the comment, it means a lot. What critique specifically are you referring to? Do you mean like on my video or what they look for at camps?
@@peach6405 The technique that I have been doing before I came to Crown was similar if not almost the same. However, they have a very specific fundamental program both visually and musically that they use. For example I grew up on standing with 50 / 50 weight in terms of upper body posture. At Crown they use 60 / 40.
@@caelanspidle3704 Aight.. I'm from Germany, I only have one season of marching experience from my highschool exchange year back in 2016. Fell in love with dci (and crown) and I've been grinding hard for the past year to prepare myself as best as I can for auditions.. Did you feel like they only took people with a lot of marching experience? Or do they evaluate people mostly based on skill? I've got a couple friends who march crown and I've been emailing back and forth with Harloff about auditions and it all seems pretty promising.. Whats your take? Best wishes from over the pond
@@peach6405 Crown (as well as any other really proficient Hornline) really likes to see people who have prior drum corps experience. Although it is not required technically, it is something that helps a lot for how the staff can evaluate you.
Hey Hashoki! For questions regarding audition spots and what not I would recommend emailing Matt Harloff the Brass Caption Head as he would know more about that than I would.
My brother started marching before I did so he bought a used euph from a corps after a season is over for himself to practice on. There are some drum corps out there that will sell out their horns from a previous season if they plan on getting new ones. The euphonium I was playing on was from the Bluecoats after 2017 and I have a used baritone that came from Crown after 2018.

Sorry you don’t get to march this year. Hopefully you can next year.
I’ll be granted an extra year!
Every time I am feeling the least bit confident of my ability to play I have myself watch this video and have a factory reset.

Not sure if you'll reply since this is an older video, but how long did it take you to practice all the pieces and get them down?
