Even if you miss, the ink can help direct the opponent or hinder thier movement in a way to create an easier shot. It's an indirect benefit, but that doesn't help if you still can't aim. We snipers would definitely prefer every shot to kill, but misses will always happen.
Thank you so much for doing a video on chargers! I do want to note one thing on flicking however. While it can be good practice in training room, when it comes to the games itself you want to flick as little as possible. If you can hit difficult shots that's good, but if you can set yourself up to just get easy shots in the first place you will have an overall better time with charger. This goes for any weapon, but especially for Charger what matters is consistency. As such practicing things in training room like tracking targets or being able to reliably drag your crosshair towards your opponent are more useful than reliably hitting flicks are. Getting easy shots is mostly done through proper positioning, like Barry nicely mentioned, and also being comfortable at these consistent motions through training room.
I started playing backliner 'cause of your vids/streams! I always learn a thing or two when watching. What I realize when playing Charger is that positioning is important, but also rotating to certain positions on the map when the objective changes. For example, I love watching Brian on Tower Control on Shellendorf Institute. He knows when to push up, when to ride tower, and where to focus when retreating.
Charger rules: 1. Stay calm. This is probably one of the most important ones. Staying calm allows you to hit more shots. Trust me, if you get too nervous, take a second and get relaxed. 2. Go into the training room with the charger you want. Learn your range and practice hitting shots e.g. side flicks, up and down flicks, jump shots, stored shots. 3. Get good gear that works for you. I'm a splat charger main and I use a pure of main saver, one main of ink resistance, 3 subs of special up, 1 main of run speed and 3 subs of swim speed. Probably not the best, but it works for me. Edit: One year later I look at this and say this gear isn't very good. Now I vary based on mode. In rainmaker I use a pure of main saver, one main of sub saver, 3 subs of special charge saver, and object shredder with qsj, ink res, and bomb defense. 4. Find a good spot on the map. 5. Try not to die. You are your team's beacon. Usually when I die, the rest of my team dies. Idk why. 6. Don't get too aggressive. This is really important too. Sometime I'll get too aggressive trying to kill a player and get picked off by another teammate, die some other way or super jump back to spawn, wasting the time I spent chasing a person. Those are my most valuable tips. If you read this far, thank you! I hope you'll be a charger main like me!
I’m a Splatterscope user, and yes, these help greatly, especially the staying calm bit. It really requires a lot of practice, a calm mind, and a steady hand. Some good gear helps.
Small comment to anyone looking to pickup charger firefin is not the worst one its the most common at higher levels of play, veliter as well being good on splat zones. Pretty sure any dedicated charger player would recommend learning it.
Yeah the Firefin felt special...like you know that feeling when you found the one and you do better with it? Yeah that was the scope firefin. I’m not a defense player but it felt right...I wanna be able to be be both because expansion taught me to try to be both.
I personally use e-liter but ive been thinking about getting the hero charger (ik its the same as the normal one but it looks cooler) Also i love your vids, your tips have made me a lot better edit: The new account vids are also really good and also helped me improve, im currently at b rank so not great but im improving
Charger tip when fighting dualies : Dualie players often roll twice before shooting you, so charge up and wait until they roll and get stuck on the end lag, and claim that fre- tactical kill 😎
Unless they know that you're expecting a double roll, in which case they may space out their rolls such that they always have one at the ready. This tactic is most common on the Dualie Squelchers, but it is still possible on most dualies.
@@mello_450 I'm a charger main that barely uses squiffer as well, but I still agree with this statement, the goo tuber is my least used charger behind the scoped e-liter and the rest of splatterscopes
in my opinion, the best way to practice with chargers, especially on this game where the maps are mostly bad for it, is to play outside of your normal charger comfort zone. When you sit in the back the whole game you don’t get a whole lot of experience killing players who are trying to kill you back, and you won’t be very helpful to your team on the offense, but when you push up further and put yourself in a situation where the other player has a better chance of killing you, once you learn how to win in those situations every other kill will become easier and you can beat other players in situations where they think they have the upper hand. It’s kind of complicated but the idea is to get practice playing with the charger in scenarios where you are at a disadvantage. Once you get to a point where you can win in those situations, all other kills will be easier.
Yes, I also learned a lot about aiming and practicing motion in octo expansion which really helped my charger aim (ex. playing against agent 3 with motion controls in a driving car was a fun but hard challenge). Even though the dlc doesn't have too many charger levels, the aim practice imo was much better than just regular battles (also yes, I am a charger main).
This would be a good mindset, but for maps where chargers really can’t do anything like SZ/TC/CB blackbelly where’s a big object in the way, VCharger/KCharger/Firefin, and most Eliters aren’t the greatest since you can only position yourself in a couple spots, and even then they aren’t really good
@@karbine9818 true, but I also use splat charger aggressively when needed, and I also play other weapons when needed. And even with that, maps with less sniping positions still work decently for bamboozler and squiffer most of the time.
This information is VERY useful for squiffers. However with squiffers, it's best to rush in instead of just camp, even if its near the enemy team. Seriously, look at how many times i trickshot others with squiffer rushing in, or splat charger camping. Seriously, i didnt even mean to get alot of trickshots in just one round but i guess i got a good amount

Hi Captain, I play fire-fin splatter-scope so if you want scoped tips from someone who cant maintain S rank here you go. 1. you can't use the hide behind a wall trick because you need to see your opponents. 2. If you lose sight of your target retreat as a squid because once they know you lost them your dead. 3. I'd argue that fire fin chargers are best for objectives, you can use suction bomb rush to clear out the other team and splash wall to set up a defensive position any where.
Scuffed mini squif guide from competitive squiffer main: ~Overview~ Squiffer is mid ranged aggro supportish weapon with decent paint and good kits. Classic is the most supportive with a low armor cost + point sensors allowing you entry into assist city New is also fairly supportive, but you have the safety net of baller to keep you alive and autobombs for bomb pressure Fresh is the hardest to use, but can be very versatile. Between suction bombs and the low cost for inkjet, you'll be getting a lot of inkjets, and inkjet has more range than a splatterscope, so you can pretend to be this pathetic little squiffer with no range, then suddenly snipe the enemy backline from across the map. ~Abilities~ MPU: use it. It gives you better paint, but more importantly, more range. 1m+2s is the minimum, this allows you to have similar range to the nautilus. 2m 4s is max, this bring your range back to Splatoon 1 status (Range got nerfed by 7% from splat1 to splat2, 2m4s brings it up by 6.95, so similar enough). Wear whatever amount makes you happy Swim speed: very nice for quick positioning, and strengthening up the hold charge Ink resistance: It's nice to run more than 1 sub of inkres, since you'll likely run into a lot of enemy paint during fights. Run speed: not as strong on squif as it was in splat 1, but still useful on grate heavy maps like Albacore, Arowana, etc. It's also nice on fresh squiffer, since when you hold down Zr while using inkjet, it will match your weapon's strafing speed, allowing you to have a faster inkjet (you should try this trick with octobrush *winks*) Special charge up: Kind of a necessity on classic since you want to spam armor, not really too important on the others Quick respawn: it's squiffer, you're likely to die without killing anyone, this negates the effects of dying ~Jump charging~ With squif, you're able to charge at full speed no matter whether you're grounded or in the air. This is useful in 2 situations: #1: Close range encounters If you're within range of an enemy, start jumping around to make yourself hard to hit, simple. #2: Ledge peeking You know how rollers can flick over ledges to get kills from a position you can't do much about. Well squiffer can do the same thing, but with a lot more range! The timing for this can be a bit tricky, and pretty difficult depending on the height of the ledge, but once you get the timing down, it's muscle memory. You want to jump at the correct time to get max jump height while your charge reaches full at the apex of your jump. So basically you start charging, and a split second after that, press and hold jump. This is extremely useful to know, since you can get some insane angles and cheesy kills on people. I might make a video myself showing off a bunch of these, but i'll leave you with this one example: You know those short, red walls in the middle of Wahoo World? You can shoot over those into the center circle. That's it goodbye
Advice: high perches are your friends. Find a high place where it’s difficult for the opponents to flank you, but with enough space and field of view to land your shots. Advice number Dos (2): use a hat with tenacity. Snipers, especially E-Liter/E-Litre mains will be on backlines and not as involved in the turmoil. This means that you will likely spend the least amount of time dead and it not only allows teammates a beacon to jump back in quickly, but if all your teammates are splatted, your special gauge will fill gradually til they respawn. Advice 3 shot-lead. Shoot where they’re going to be rather than where they’re currently positioned. You can even shoot near them to scare them into doing something dumb on their part, and follow it up with another shot to the opposite side, making them a sitting duck. Advice 4. Use your sub weapon when you can. Pack some ink saver (sub) so that you use them more frequently. Advice 5: be ready to retreat when necessary. Once sniping is no longer needed or your about to get flanked by an enemy Inkling/Octoling, super jump back to spawn or to a teammate who’s on the sidelines covering turf. Have a route already set in case you need to flee, and if you have splat bombs, don’t forget to use them. Advice 6. Change position after a few kills. Natural, players are going to catch on to your location and will find a way to take you out. Don’t be predictable! Find another safe area or support a teammate from behind. This will keep anyone from ganging up on them as they’ll already be near half health, so they’ll be easier for your teammate to pick them off, and it’ll keep you from getting targeted while they’re in front. Just be mindful of ambush attempts from behind and from the sides.
Wow. I was awful at charger and didn’t understand at ALL how they worked. I watched the first TWO minutes of this video and it just CLICKED. I played so well and got ten kills, which wasn’t bad for a turf war. Thanks!
Great editing style and comedic pacing in this video, great job on those! I will say that Firefin is probably the strongest charger because wall is such a good positioning tool and suction bomb rush is so versatile, unlike ray which is good for specific objectives and baller which is really just "the fun option". Also, the regular Eliter 4K is great because rain is generally a better special for the weapon, and mines let you keep a lot more overall map/enemy control than with beakons. And finally, resident bamboo expert here: Beginners will greatly benefit from MPU, but as your aim improves you will need MPU less and less, and in my opinion, the best way to improve your aim is to force yourself to hit more shots, i.e. don't use MPU. Without MPU, you can stack other abilities like swim speed, ink res, main saver, last ditch effort, whatever you want, which can liberate you in tons of ways. Also, BARRY COLLAB LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
hey! actual good charger tip that keeps me on my feet! stay calm and play in the back (unless you're playing squiffer, then stay mid, thats your job) BUT STAY CALM!!! try not to engage at close range, most weapons have high fire rates and can kill you faster then you can realize that your dead!! stying calm keeps your hands steady, if you stress out (at least, for me) my hands get all shakey
ill be honest, i became a charger main after playing other weapons (mainly N-Zap) for a long time. at some point i had aim that was good enough to try and play charger. i generally prefer splatterscope and i have used it the most out of all chargers, because of the higher range compared to the splat charger while still letting me participate in fights on the frontline due to the 1 second charge time. it also has a kind of feedback with the zoom thats more comfortable to me personally. different people play snipers differently. for example one might find themselves comfortable playing sniper like its guitar hero, placing your crosshair where you think an enemy is going to go and shooting when theyre there. some people rather play with flicks only, as they struggle with keeping calm and tracking, under which i fall. the range of the splatterscope is very insignificant, unless youre using it with MPU. the chargers all up until the range of the splatterscope are able to employ a strategy close to the squiffer, with slight differences as charge times are different. with the splatterscope, i do not recommend holding your charge for any longer than 3 seconds, as splatoon is a fast game and 3 seconds is a lot of time, time with which somebody could flank you from anywhere.
@@willo90li Strifing is when you repeatedly go in and out of ink in order to avoid getting hit by something. Astro was kind of doing it at the beginning of the video.
I got Fire Emblem on the GBA a few days ago because of you, despite them being the opposite of what I normally play, and... I really like it! So thanks for that.
ik im pretty late, but some squiffer tips for yall as a recently discovered squif main -STACK MPU, it extends your short range to something more viable -dont be afraid to get up close -jump, jump, jump, jump -USE YOUR SUB WEAPON. PLEEEEASE -very long range opponents are death, avoid em -new squiffer has the best kit, use that one
I haven’t even seen the whole video and i know this is gonna be helpful. Especially for someone like me who cant play good with a charger to save my life XD
I like coming back to this video to remind me to follow these tips often. I been playing sniper weapons since Splatoon 1 and continued in Splatoon 2, but I don't use motion controls... I mean I used them in the first game but stopped using them in Splatoon 2 cause I have a crappy joycons and don't wanna buy a new controller. But still I like the chargers and this video is really helpful for the tips.
ugh gosh this just makes me so happy, i love chargers and my friend never understands why, i sent this to her and she responded with, “.......i get it now.”
Ah, astro, you've come to the right person. I am a great charger main and the key is to keep getting quik super jump and jump whenever u shoot. you won't miss that way!
ANOTHER gimmick to add to the gootuber: you can go back in the ink WAY faster than other chargers, so allows for lots of mobility, and when you can make extremely fast turns coming out of the ink and instantly back in again, even faster than bomb strafing
As a charger, the best thinv Ive recently started doing is move around. Yea its nice to have that high perch but then the enemy team constantly has an idea of where you are. Be sure to move locations all throughout the game. Remember, your covering your teams ass, not racking up kills. If you notice your team have all been splatted Id suggest super jumping back to spawn to regrouo with them.
@@kaeyaluckaealberich1612 definitely the best for me as well, especially so fun with all the different variations that allow you to play different styles, like bamboozler to squiffer to goo to splat to e-liter and the scoped variants (although when I started splatoon 2 at launch I liked scoped until I actually practiced non scoped and was hooked).
charger in theory is the most broken weapon in the game, the fact that it can land 1 shot kills from across the map makes it broken on paper. but the reason you don't see it everywhere is obviously that it's held back by mechanical skill. so yea its the best weapon in the game babayyyyyyyyy
@@ry4N__________________________ um, across the map? The best chargers in the meta tend to be the shorter to mid range chargers, so I don't really understand your logic. And even with the skill of a charger, they can easily be taken care of depending on the map, opponents weapons, and flanks that put you in a close range battle which rely more on luck to kill them, so imo, they are not broken at all, even with a good charger. There are always ways to take care of one, and they are full of holes and weaknesses that can be exploited (a good example is a rush/flank with torpedo, which is almost a sure kill if they don't have teammates supporting them to kill you).
As a fellow charger main, I always use the e-liter. But I didn’t always use it since I used to use 1.regular splat charger 2.the scope 3.e-liter The e-liter yes can be hard to use due to the long ass charge time but I think it’s best depending on ur gear (+ they can easily kill splashdowns) I’ll list my most recommended abilities 1. USE QUICK SUPER JUMP THINGY It’s extremely useful and make sure you have a lot of it like a full gear ability of it 2. Maybe some swim speed up and run speed up I use this because ur gonna need to run from people, run like ur life depends on it. 3. Definitely mpu (main power up) like it said in the vid it can really bump up all the charger into another level Now with using chargers take your time! It took me almost a year to get used to using chargers, and some people might take longer some people might take shorter time. Just as long as you take your time and enjoy the ride you should be fine! Hope this helps👍
If it's a roller: dodge and tap shot If it's another charger: it's a duel If it's literally any other weapon: swim out of reach with tap shots and then snipe them.
Small suggestion from a seasoned charger player, instead of thinking about it as “snapping” think of it more as “tracking”. You wanna move the reticle closer to the target so you aren’t trying to guess wildly about where they are, still move fast but don’t sacrifice accuracy for flashy snaps. Also a good strat while using the E-Liter a good strat is to point your laser at a target, wait for them to react, the you punish which way they go. It’s all about the 4D chess. Incredible vid as always Captain 😌
YES! Thank you, Captain Astronaut, for posting in January and giving me something to watch. Most Ytubers see that their revenue isnt good this time of year and just *Dips*. I use aquifer cause I like to be a team player with point sensor without reeeaaaally being a team player
As an e-liter main, EXPLOIT YOUR RANGE, don't stay on the platform's/snipe's courners, stay behind also, you gotta be careful with your shots, you aren't a splat charger you need to shoot only when you know you can land the hit avoid unnecesary risk, you need yo stay alive to serve as a beacon be creative with your positioning, you'll find pretty useful spots to stay when you know how rangy you are idk if I'm making myself clear,, I'm more of the type that rather show things than tell them,, and this is based on my experience as an X rank e-liter (sorry for my bad english)
Flicking is also really good because it makes sure the enemy can’t react to the laser pointer. If you aim the crosshair at them while it’s charging up, they’ll have time to dodge or get away from your shot. So flick to basically jumpscare the enemy
I SAW THAT INTELEON YOU DIDN'T SHOW ME HOW TO USE IT I- THE AUDACITY HOW COULD YOU BLUE BALL ME LIKE THIS, but this was honestly one of your best weapon guides, its cool to see how far you've come Astronaut, keep it up!
Snipin's a good job mate. But i have a horrid disease called lack of skill and chargers make me wish for the sweet release of death... So they're all right, my least used weapon class other than the Bamboozler but still fun. Splatlings are better though.
Wow, it wasn't actually a meme, it was a legit guide. Extra tips I can add: Use half charges when the enemy is close but you know they are low. Also when an enemy is close and you aren't in a good position to jump away, you want to be very sporadic and mobile, don't go in a straight line. If you know you can't run, just bounce around until your team comes or you get in position to jump out (no, I'm not saying to rely on your team, I'm saying eventually they will see enemies and what do you know, they are attacking now). Also an important thing to understand with the GooTuber is that 1: there is no lag when you enter or exit it the ink with a charge, and 2: the glowing white dot while in your ink is harder to spot than it looks. It's definitely more stealthy than the glowing white light. Knowing this, you can be more aggressive and _actually_ stealthy. Though, don't treat it like a Carbon Roller.
I wanna a bit of knowledge as an E-liter main if that's okay =P The default e-liter's mines is SUPER helpful as it not only tacks on some damage, but it also notifies you of flankers, and if someone get's hit by 2 mines, all it takes is a tap to splat them. Ink storm can also fill the same purpose as bubbles, since no one wants their parade to get rained on!
so this vid came out over a year ago and most people have already discussed the main issues but ig I'll contribute. so when it comes to splat chargers, the kensa has better alternatives and basically don't pick it up. the VCharge is good but playing a backline for stingray can be done better by the CJet, and also, the Firefin exceeds the other splat chargers by a MILE, like it is by far the best when it comes to confirming a kill, painting for teammates, and controlling objective and pressure (also the scope is far better... like wayyyyy better). for Eliters, make sure to play the V over the custom, it's difficult to make good use of bubbles with the eliter, and with the V, you can easily press people out of areas to help with objective and ink mine is amazing for retreating and defence. and finally, for squiffs, the New squiffer is honestly the worst, the auto bomb isn't terrible bc it can still poke for chip damage, but because chargers only care about killing in one hit, chip damage doesn't matter at all, and when you explode your baller, you're left in the open and have a bit of end lag before you can get out. LOVE YOUR VIDS CAPTAIN!!!
"kensa charger is for impatient players - if you're watching the rest of the team absolutely blowing it at close range, you can baller it and handle things yourself" 😂
When you charge on to the field, watch out for Chargers. As there charge can prevent a charge before you can even charge towards them. Chargers will flick, point, land, turf, splat, and pierce anyone who is not on there side. Something I've always wondered... if you have a fully charged scoped charger, does it still give off the laser that the other team can see? Just cerous that's all. Splatacular gameplay Captain Astronaut! You have really made this video out of this world!!! I guess we can all see why your the Captain of Astronauts. You have a freshtastic day!
Oh my gosh thank you so much, I had been trying to get better at the charger Baudelaire it ALLWAYS looks so intimidating when people are good at it and now I can land flick shots AND I trick people by hiding my laser behind walls, once again, THANK YOUU🙏 !
As a goo tuber main, I know another gimmick for it. You can go into and out of the ink almost instantly, meaning you can time your shots and walk on un inked surface a lot faster with *goo flopping*. Also I prefer the og goo tuber over the custom bc splashdown and succ bomb can help with escaping close ranger danger. Also again, people always underestimate goo tubers for it’s range and charging time but a lot of the time you won’t run into that problem. And Splatoon RUclipsrs can call themselves GooTubers bc of this thing.
I use the E liter for my sniping because I like the range. It comes in handy for me a lot because I tend to over estimate the range of each weapon so I end up missing because I didn't have the range I thought I did.
These weapons have the highest skill ceiling in the game, you could potentially hit every single shot and win all games. To practice aim, i recommend playing girl power station in the octo expansion and using a charger. If you dont have octo expansion, go to the training area and practice tracking the moving targets with your aiming reticle. Flick shots arent the most important thing, but can help if you come up against high level players with good awareness, snice they cant see your lazer until you shoot them. Good luck 👍
As a charger main, I have a few tips: •Don't use braindead weapons like the clash blaster or tri-slosher, they have a shot that doesn't require you to aim that much. •Use a shooter weapon for a bit to help with target practice. •Don't bother taking a charger to a turf war, they don't ink that well. •Be a front line unscoped charger, it'll help you with taking care of people who WILL get in your face. •If you use a scoped charger stick to backlining. •Practice trick shots on Octo Expansion Slap Bracelet Station if you have it. •Start of with a basic splat charger before you start experimenting with other ones.
This video is very good for new charger mains and it will help a lot of people. (i knew all of this already so ye but it's still a great video and no i don't flex my skills right now)
Mhm ok so this is a pretty good video but I wanna go over some things that I disagree on Charger: For the kits he says that firefin is the worst but for most map and modes competitive players usually use firefin. The vanilla can be used in certain maps and modes but after the stingray nerfs and the 220p for special its not used as often. Kensa is obviously shit lmao, baller is fine but sprinker is uh 🤢, as he said the baller doesn't mesh too well and u get the idea His argument that firefin doesn't mesh well with charger is kind of weak, the wall is extremely handy for fighting other chargers and for jumping out, you can throw the wall in a corner and be pretty safe while jumping out Eliter: (I main this one 🥵) The custom is the worse kit. The vanilla has ink mines and rain and while it doesn't look too good on paper, ink mines are great for watching flanks and close range And with a low points of special of 170p WITH mpu for those fat lines of paint u can just pump out rains Eliter is a charger so the paint isn't that good but with mpu its enough to paint a shit ton Custom can be used on certain maps like arowana but i mean bubbles r pretty 🤢 Eliter can work better than charger on certain map modes like moray for example (Eliter is very hot and sexy everyone should play it) Squiffer!! I would disagree with what he said about the kits, the kits for the squiffer are all great and help support different playstyles but new squiffer is ass compared to the others The classic is actually pretty good because of the armour 🥵🥵🥵 Squiffer with mpu paints a shit ton and with a 170p points for special it can churn out armours as fast as like a fucking jr, the point sensor is eh but i mean its still ok Fresh squiffer!! On top of being the best looking squiffer its has inkjet which is fun and suction bombs which r pretty good, this is helpful for a more aggressive playstyle so it works pretty well New squiffer has baller which is kinda shit especially because its not even a light one but ig, autobombs r also kind of eh I mean it can work but theres just better alternatives Bamboozler!! Yea everything he said is all good lmao Goo tuber 😐 Ok so first of all there's the quickly getting out of ink while holding a charge that everyone mentioned so uh huh One thing I find really nice about goo is that if someone gets close u can hop in and out of the ink charging up until u get to the 100 damage point One special thing about goo its its paint but its still pretty outclassed by the fresh squiffer because of the inkjet In paper goo should be better than squiffer with the similar kill time, more paint, option of longer range but in the game its not as good The squiffer being able to jump while shooting is actually alot more important than it seems Also one thing to mention is that the ink velocity in a partial charge is alot slower than usual which can be a pain in the ass Ok yea thats it nice vid it was fun, also if u feel pressured to make videos about splatoon when u dont enjoy the game anymore its ok to make more videos on what u do enjoy, hope ur doing good :)
Things I'd like to add: -The E-litre's range from splatoon 1 was nerfed hard in Splatoon 2 this is why it feels like a slightly longer version of the splat charger. While it's still the longest ranged weapon in the game, it lost some of what made it so popular..... well that and damage up. -Bamboozler had an ink efficiency nerf in a recent update, carrying 2 subs of main saver can counter act most of the nerf however. MPU has not been nerfed but less people are using it now. -Squiffer tends to not be feasible, mainly because there exist other midliners like Dualie squelchers, Nautilus and Splattershot pro for example (or at least I guess) that already fill in the niches of the Squiffer and with less effort required to be consistent with.

I don't even deny the fact that I often miss.
Even if you miss, the ink can help direct the opponent or hinder thier movement in a way to create an easier shot. It's an indirect benefit, but that doesn't help if you still can't aim. We snipers would definitely prefer every shot to kill, but misses will always happen.

I do want to note one thing on flicking however. While it can be good practice in training room, when it comes to the games itself you want to flick as little as possible.

I hope you'll be a charger main like me!
thanks
I’m a Splatterscope user, and yes, these help greatly, especially the staying calm bit. It really requires a lot of practice, a calm mind, and a steady hand. Some good gear helps.
or just play the game for 3000 hours (thats what i did)

Small comment to anyone looking to pickup charger firefin is not the worst one its the most common at higher levels of play, veliter as well being good on splat zones. Pretty sure any dedicated charger player would recommend learning it.

Yeah the Firefin felt special...like you know that feeling when you found the one and you do better with it? Yeah that was the scope firefin. I’m not a defense player but it felt right...I wanna be able to be be both because expansion taught me to try to be both.
I personally use e-liter but ive been thinking about getting the hero charger (ik its the same as the normal one but it looks cooler)

This tactic is most common on the Dualie Squelchers, but it is still possible on most dualies.

in my opinion, the best way to practice with chargers, especially on this game where the maps are mostly bad for it, is to play outside of your normal charger comfort zone.
This would be a good mindset, but for maps where chargers really can’t do anything like SZ/TC/CB blackbelly where’s a big object in the way, VCharger/KCharger/Firefin, and most Eliters aren’t the greatest since you can only position yourself in a couple spots, and even then they aren’t really good
That's exactly what I did for my splatling, and I'm trying to currently do it with my charger

2. If you lose sight of your target
retreat as a squid because once they know you lost them your dead.
3. I'd argue that fire fin chargers are best for objectives, you can use suction bomb rush to clear out the other team and splash wall to set up a defensive position any where.
The enemy team may think it's a easy sweep when I play charger, but jokes on them...

Meet the Well Rested Sniper
Scuffed mini squif guide from competitive squiffer main:
~Overview~
Squiffer is mid ranged aggro supportish weapon with decent paint and good kits.
Classic is the most supportive with a low armor cost + point sensors allowing you entry into assist city
New is also fairly supportive, but you have the safety net of baller to keep you alive and autobombs for bomb pressure
Fresh is the hardest to use, but can be very versatile. Between suction bombs and the low cost for inkjet, you'll be getting a lot of inkjets, and inkjet has more range than a splatterscope, so you can pretend to be this pathetic little squiffer with no range, then suddenly snipe the enemy backline from across the map.
~Abilities~
MPU: use it.
Wear whatever amount makes you happy
Swim speed: very nice for quick positioning, and strengthening up the hold charge
Ink resistance: It's nice to run more than 1 sub of inkres, since you'll likely run into a lot of enemy paint during fights.
Run speed: not as strong on squif as it was in splat 1, but still useful on grate heavy maps like Albacore, Arowana, etc. It's also nice on fresh squiffer, since when you hold down Zr while using inkjet, it will match your weapon's strafing speed, allowing you to have a faster inkjet (you should try this trick with octobrush *winks*)
Special charge up: Kind of a necessity on classic since you want to spam armor, not really too important on the others
Quick respawn: it's squiffer, you're likely to die without killing anyone, this negates the effects of dying
~Jump charging~
With squif, you're able to charge at full speed no matter whether you're grounded or in the air. This is useful in 2 situations:
#1: Close range encounters
If you're within range of an enemy, start jumping around to make yourself hard to hit, simple.
#2: Ledge peeking
You know how rollers can flick over ledges to get kills from a position you can't do much about.
I might make a video myself showing off a bunch of these, but i'll leave you with this one example:
You know those short, red walls in the middle of Wahoo World?
Thanks!
Dying 4 seconds after landing a superjump
Astro when did u got that much better with charger I’m not ready-
Helpful, and funny as hell as always! Great job. Always enjoyable to watch.
Oh boy! 11 pm upload! Just in time for this Splatfest!
hey! actual good charger tip that keeps me on my feet! stay calm and play in the back (unless you're playing squiffer, then stay mid, thats your job) BUT STAY CALM!!! try not to engage at close range, most weapons have high fire rates and can kill you faster then you can realize that your dead!! stying calm keeps your hands steady, if you stress out (at least, for me) my hands get all shakey
I haven’t watched this yet but I’m already anticipating the TF2 references.
I am hyped.
ill be honest, i became a charger main after playing other weapons (mainly N-Zap) for a long time. at some point i had aim that was good enough to try and play charger. i generally prefer splatterscope and i have used it the most out of all chargers, because of the higher range compared to the splat charger while still letting me participate in fights on the frontline due to the 1 second charge time. it also has a kind of feedback with the zoom thats more comfortable to me personally. different people play snipers differently. for example one might find themselves comfortable playing sniper like its guitar hero, placing your crosshair where you think an enemy is going to go and shooting when theyre there. some people rather play with flicks only, as they struggle with keeping calm and tracking, under which i fall. the range of the splatterscope is very insignificant, unless youre using it with MPU. the chargers all up until the range of the splatterscope are able to employ a strategy close to the squiffer, with slight differences as charge times are different. with the splatterscope, i do not recommend holding your charge for any longer than 3 seconds, as splatoon is a fast game and 3 seconds is a lot of time, time with which somebody could flank you from anywhere.
Am I the only one who noticed that he forgot a gootuber gimmick? You can actually weaponstrive with the goo

-very long range opponents are death, avoid em

Ah, astro, you've come to the right person. I am a great charger main and the key is to keep getting quik super jump and jump whenever u shoot. you won't miss that way!
ANOTHER gimmick to add to the gootuber: you can go back in the ink WAY faster than other chargers, so allows for lots of mobility, and when you can make extremely fast turns coming out of the ink and instantly back in again, even faster than bomb strafing
and faster squidbagging XD
@@fivetales2672 I love to do that its my favorite thing to do next to winning

As a charger main my advice is: shoot at things that look like they just moved 😃👍
Wow you actually have a proper outro!
As a fellow charger main, I always use the e-liter. But I didn’t always use it since I used to use
1.regular splat charger
2.the scope
3.e-liter
The e-liter yes can be hard to use due to the long ass charge time but I think it’s best depending on ur gear (+ they can easily kill splashdowns) I’ll list my most recommended abilities
1. USE QUICK SUPER JUMP THINGY
It’s extremely useful and make sure you have a lot of it like a full gear ability of it
2. Maybe some swim speed up and run speed up
I use this because ur gonna need to run from people, run like ur life depends on it.
3. Definitely mpu (main power up) like it said in the vid it can really bump up all the charger into another level
Now with using chargers take your time!
It took me almost a year to get used to using chargers, and some people might take longer some people might take shorter time. Just as long as you take your time and enjoy the ride you should be fine!
Hope this helps👍
I use e-liter a lot, and I learned something,
It’s to aim in front of the opponent, charge again, and aim for their retreat, works pretty well.
This is probably my favorite channel of 2020
If it's a roller: dodge and tap shot
If it's another charger: it's a duel
If it's literally any other weapon: swim out of reach with tap shots and then snipe them.
Not here because I main sniper, but because I’m here to learn how to counter all of these tips!

As an e-liter main, EXPLOIT YOUR RANGE, don't stay on the platform's/snipe's courners, stay behind
also, you gotta be careful with your shots, you aren't a splat charger you need to shoot only when you know you can land the hit
avoid unnecesary risk, you need yo stay alive to serve as a beacon
be creative with your positioning, you'll find pretty useful spots to stay when you know how rangy you are
idk if I'm making myself clear,, I'm more of the type that rather show things than tell them,, and this is based on my experience as an X rank e-liter
(sorry for my bad english)
Flicking is also really good because it makes sure the enemy can’t react to the laser pointer. If you aim the crosshair at them while it’s charging up, they’ll have time to dodge or get away from your shot. So flick to basically jumpscare the enemy

1:06 that’s so badass i love this channel
Wow, it wasn't actually a meme, it was a legit guide. Extra tips I can add:
Use half charges when the enemy is close but you know they are low.
2:11 he predicted squid game. It came out in September of 2021.
This was released in january.
1:04 aot music, makes me feel epic
I wanna a bit of knowledge as an E-liter main if that's okay =P
The default e-liter's mines is SUPER helpful as it not only tacks on some damage, but it also notifies you of flankers, and if someone get's hit by 2 mines, all it takes is a tap to splat them. Ink storm can also fill the same purpose as bubbles, since no one wants their parade to get rained on!

You wouldn't expect the Astronaut to be a musician, what with there being no sound in space and all.
poyo
so this vid came out over a year ago and most people have already discussed the main issues but ig I'll contribute.
so when it comes to splat chargers, the kensa has better alternatives and basically don't pick it up. the VCharge is good but playing a backline for stingray can be done better by the CJet, and also, the Firefin exceeds the other splat chargers by a MILE, like it is by far the best when it comes to confirming a kill, painting for teammates, and controlling objective and pressure (also the scope is far better... like wayyyyy better). for Eliters, make sure to play the V over the custom, it's difficult to make good use of bubbles with the eliter, and with the V, you can easily press people out of areas to help with objective and ink mine is amazing for retreating and defence. and finally, for squiffs, the New squiffer is honestly the worst, the auto bomb isn't terrible bc it can still poke for chip damage, but because chargers only care about killing in one hit, chip damage doesn't matter at all, and when you explode your baller, you're left in the open and have a bit of end lag before you can get out. LOVE YOUR VIDS CAPTAIN!!!
"kensa charger is for impatient players - if you're watching the rest of the team absolutely blowing it at close range, you can baller it and handle things yourself" 😂
Squiffer:I have the shortest range out of all snipers!
Bambozzler:I want you to take that back right now.
At 4:23 the French will get him because of that because the tower is upside town and are about the pun
love the eurobeat
As a goo tuber main, I know another gimmick for it. You can go into and out of the ink almost instantly, meaning you can time your shots and walk on un inked surface a lot faster with *goo flopping*. Also I prefer the og goo tuber over the custom bc splashdown and succ bomb can help with escaping close ranger danger. Also again, people always underestimate goo tubers for it’s range and charging time but a lot of the time you won’t run into that problem. And Splatoon RUclipsrs can call themselves GooTubers bc of this thing.
4:18 who had anlaught Flash too
And then there’s snipewriter 5H
Good luck 👍
As a charger main, I have a few tips:
•Don't use braindead weapons like the clash blaster or tri-slosher, they have a shot that doesn't require you to aim that much.
I’ve been waiting for gootuber! Thanks.

For the kits he says that firefin is the worst but for most map and modes competitive players usually use firefin. The vanilla can be used in certain maps and modes but after the stingray nerfs and the 220p for special its not used as often.
Kensa is obviously shit lmao, baller is fine but sprinker is uh 🤢, as he said the baller doesn't mesh too well and u get the idea
His argument that firefin doesn't mesh well with charger is kind of weak, the wall is extremely handy for fighting other chargers and for jumping out, you can throw the wall in a corner and be pretty safe while jumping out
Eliter: (I main this one 🥵)
The custom is the worse kit.
The vanilla has ink mines and rain and while it doesn't look too good on paper, ink mines are great for watching flanks and close range
And with a low points of special of 170p WITH mpu for those fat lines of paint u can just pump out rains
Eliter is a charger so the paint isn't that good but with mpu its enough to paint a shit ton
Custom can be used on certain maps like arowana but i mean bubbles r pretty 🤢
Eliter can work better than charger on certain map modes like moray for example
(Eliter is very hot and sexy everyone should play it)
Squiffer!!
I would disagree with what he said about the kits, the kits for the squiffer are all great and help support different playstyles but new squiffer is ass compared to the others
The classic is actually pretty good because of the armour 🥵🥵🥵
Squiffer with mpu paints a shit ton and with a 170p points for special it can churn out armours as fast as like a fucking jr, the point sensor is eh but i mean its still ok
Fresh squiffer!! On top of being the best looking squiffer its has inkjet which is fun and suction bombs which r pretty good, this is helpful for a more aggressive playstyle so it works pretty well
New squiffer has baller which is kinda shit especially because its not even a light one but ig, autobombs r also kind of eh I mean it can work but theres just better alternatives
Bamboozler!!
Yea everything he said is all good lmao
Goo tuber 😐
Ok so first of all there's the quickly getting out of ink while holding a charge that everyone mentioned so uh huh
One thing I find really nice about goo is that if someone gets close u can hop in and out of the ink charging up until u get to the 100 damage point
One special thing about goo its its paint but its still pretty outclassed by the fresh squiffer because of the inkjet
In paper goo should be better than squiffer with the similar kill time, more paint, option of longer range but in the game its not as good
The squiffer being able to jump while shooting is actually alot more important than it seems
Also one thing to mention is that the ink velocity in a partial charge is alot slower than usual which can be a pain in the ass
Ok yea thats it nice vid it was fun, also if u feel pressured to make videos about splatoon when u dont enjoy the game anymore its ok to make more videos on what u do enjoy, hope ur doing good :)
It's always your videos that make me pick up splatoon 2 again, then get eaten on ranked.
I main bamboo now. Thank you for the knowledge now instead of seeing it as a piece of trash instead of a broken beast at close and far range
What the heck?!?! I never thought you’d never do it!
Things I'd like to add:
-The E-litre's range from splatoon 1 was nerfed hard in Splatoon 2 this is why it feels like a slightly longer version of the splat charger.
