I find it amusing that as you approach 40 you’re veering into elegance, while I, a couple of decades older, am veering back toward the kind of classic edgy. Inspired by you, I’ve almost entirely given up on work-classic clothes and leaning heavily into funky denim. Maybe it’s generational, but it feels like a return to myself. Ive almost always dressed this way, but have had periods where I tried to look like a grown up professional. Right now I’m wearing my first-ever pair of mother jeans - wide legged with big bold stars. I think of them as my Emily pants. Thank you for helping me get here (although my bank account is a little less appreciative.)
