Oh dear! Well according to TheGammaSqueeze the only reason it’s in Beta is because the fan isn’t working which I think is superfluous anyway.
Also. I filmed this twice. I planned it all wrong and never had any way to track what bits of footage went together!

Haha yes it would appear people find my accent appealing. I had no idea… and, yes, if it’s working no need for GammaOS. It’s actually a nice thing to keep on reserve for one day when you feel like a change or want some extra performance.
Did it about 2 weeks ago, couldn't stand that oversharpening on stock OS. Usually I stay away from betas, but this one is a must, as well as onion os for MM+
Ya once you see it you can’t unsee it! I chose to not make too big a deal of the fact that it’s beta because not much will change apart from the fan working and the step to find the OS on Discord.
Oh… apparently a nice performance boost is on its way.

Great tutorial, I swear their needs to be more 405v setup videos, I am more of a visual learner so trying to follow along with a 405m setup was kind of overwhelming 😅.

i was stuck in deciding between the stock OS and the Gamma version of the 405M, I read there's been some issues after updating. And it's been a while since I rooted an old android phone years ago so i'm a little bit apprehensive. the Gamma version is a tad more expensive. This video made me take the plunge just a few minutes ago. Getting the stock OS version and I will tinker with it if and when it becomes overwhelmingly necessary. cheers!
Got my device upgraded to Gamma OS! Followed this step by step guide which works for me. Now I'll just need to download games and set the paths to the correct file I guess. Thanks!

You can read ROMs from anywhere so yes
Please keep us updated on when they get the fan running in the software. The fan in my testing of GameCube actually works and improves some graphic heavy games significantly.

Very important to have a sharp knife to hand when installing a new OS
It’s the most important tool. You never know if the software gets aggressive and you need to defend yourself.
Nice tutorial. I just wish these devs would have a much easier way to flash the OS over using a script, it’s not a complain, I’m sure they have a reason for the series of steps.
this reminds me of when i had a 351p years ago in school and installing Ark os was game changer i legit whent form not playing my 351p to never putting it down
Yes GammaOS really is great
like the frontend for gamma OS but i doubt if i can see the benefits or hassle of setting it up with the time i have taken to setup the 450v in the first place, i would rather setup each emulator manually for the consoles i need and let retroarch handle the rest 🤷🏿♀ let's see how it goes after i finish with the basic setup
Hi, do we know anything about the supposed ADB command options to enable the fan in the beta, which from what I can see is the main thing missing from it?
Interesting vid! I agree, the Powkiddy Max 3 Pro is quite a disappointment overall. I was expecting the Max 3 Pro to follow the same sleek design as the Max 2 with a 5.5 inch display at least. The X55 is actually what I wanted the Max 3 Pro to be.

Hey man, this is a fairly new device so it's hard to find any modding info specifically for this model. I was wondering if you had any idea how to pull the boot.img for the stock OS to use for Magisk. I'm trying to get some live service android games to run that are currently detecting root on the device and don't launch as a result.
I wanted to pull the trigger on gamma OS but I wanna wait for a build that fully supports fan control and battery optimization for sleep mode, right now the android OS does everything I need it to do outside of the hideousness.
Okay. I haven’t gotten into anything like that. We would have to ask TheGammaSqueeze. I believe the fan is making a difference in some gaming situations but honestly the overall improvements are worth it for me. However OTA updates aren’t available yet so I can understand that some people want to wait before going ahead.

Hey. I hope you can help me. I followed all of the steps until the erase user data part. I might have pressed the power button more than once. It didn't reboot the system proceeding to the gamma OS prompt.Now it's stuck in fastboot mode. It's showing LOCK FLAG: UNLOCK.

magisk isnt woking for me when i try to update it, it says unsupported/ unkown image format. also theres no apps section. i have to put widget shortcuts to access my apps

Gamma OS 1.5.1 has now been released with full support for the RG405v.

@@adinwalls Count yourself lucky. I’ve got a 405v on order and it’s apparently a royal pain to install on a Mac which is all we have. Might have to stay on stock which by all accounts has received a few updates. I’ve also heard that the V sharpening isn’t as pronounced as the m.

For some reason after the erase part and booting the device my screen orientation is sideways edit: after going through and clicking 'start' the orientation resets itself as it should be, phew

Depends where you are. In the States an Amazon purchase will give you a better return option.
I got my 405v get gamma os but now my fan doesn't work or the option button of the fan isn't there . How do I get em back ? Or is it a future update in store ?
Hey as mentioned in the vid and the firmware readme file the fan won’t work with GammaOS yet but an update is coming.

Will this also improve Retroarch N64 emulation? I was thinking of doing achievements runs on N64 games but it has been a pretty bad trip so far. Will gamma os also improve retroarch?
Any issues you may be having to n64 will be within the emulator. GammaOS won’t fix that.
unisoc says no compatible devices found. using chrome and original usb cable that came with my rg405v. and now i cant get out of fastboot mode.

Hello ADIN, after instal that OS ,you can map that shortcut button too (whortcut for front end) ? What about scrapping game roms (artworks ?) , it´s easier ? I just got mine ambernic 405 V and checking what to do . Because it´s far from good software experience .... THX
For scraping artwork just use Daijisho or Emulation station. You dont need to change the OS

Yes it will just make sure you don’t use the lite version.

Hey it looks complicated but it really isn’t. I tend to break everything down so that there’s nothing left unexplained. I recall installing it on my RG505 and think, “oh is that all!” 😊

I would have to check with TheGammaSqueeze but these tools are Windows only.
trying using windows in a virtual machine if you're on mac os or linux I suppose. Perhaps WINE maybe a useful tool as well.

Yes just don’t install the Lite version if you want Google services.
I want to install this primarily so i can get rid of the screen over sharpening, however when i got to download is says DO NOT FLASH ON THE RG405V, should i be concerned??

Hey there, I always installed my paid apps like Drastic and Mupen64 (or whatever it’s called). I then usually play around with some Citra emulators.

I've done gamma os on my rg505, now I haven't been able to get any roms to work. I've downloaded from the device itself, on computer and sent via USB and even email. Zarchiver doesn't want to extract anything, 7zip does but dolphin tells me the file doesn't exist. I cannot believe how difficult it now is. I honestly wish I wouldn't have bothered with gamma. I had a good system before but now that everything is gone because I left it all on internal storage, I can't even get it back. So how does anyone else actually get games? Not downloading them, but getting them in the folders, extracting and making them work?
Hey there. Are you extracting games on Android or on your pc? Because it would be better to unzip the on your computer and then add them to a folder on the device. Make sure they are rhetorical correct file format. And then set them up in the emulator.
I have some issues when trying to do fastboot. It's show the annouce "INFO: LOCK FLAG IS : UNLOCK!!!
WARNING: LOCK FLAG IS : UNLOCK, SKIP VERIFY!!!" and I dont know what to do next
Hey yes it gives a warning but you just need to follow the steps. Just make sure you used the RG405V firmware.

This won’t play much higher than PS2. You may get some Switch games to work.

@@adinwalls Yeah, that part where you have to use a PIN to unlock the screen. To get rid of it, you have to go to Sytem>Security. Tks bro.

I recommend trying the stock Android first. If you reach a point where the oversharpening really bothers you or you just want a little bump in performance, then go for GammaOS.

Unless you play a very demanding game for a very long period of time I don’t see any downside with no fan.

Yes unless you google how to preserve the game files for each system. I managed to same some of my games in progress successfully.

Hey there, you may need to roll back to stock and start again. Try holding the power button and volume down. It should reboot into stock firmware.
Oh and unplug the cable.

Theres probably no chance youll happen to know about this. But mupen64plus fz pro was working just fine in stock firmware. And now in gamma os the audio will not work what so ever. 🥺🙏 plz bro if you happen to know of some setting or something pls give me a heads up 🥺🙏

Try restarting in the stock Android by turning the device and the pressing volume up and pressing power to turn it on. Then start the process again.

Try signing out of google play store. Maybe it will improve performance. Also make sure nothing else is running in the background.

Are you using the RG405V version for GammaOS from the Discord link I shared v
To go back to stock and start again unplug the device, press volume down and power. It will boot into stock

I've installed everything on my pc(windows 10) but when I put the usb cable into the rg405v it does not show me that it is connected with my pc even if I have activated debug connection on it, It seems as if I have to activate some option on my PC for the connection between the two to take place.

EDIT: Was using Edge, tried using actual Chrome, still no results, but neitther Google or Edge are detecting a USB device at all?
Have you installed the exe files at the beginning of the tutorial. Also restart your computer after the installation.

Hello! The guide is great, but I have a problem. I can't flash Gamma OS on the Anbernic rg405V. When i open the command prompt, the countdown starts but after that it stops at the first command line. I waited for around 15 minutes and nothing happened. I downloaded the Gamma OS on the RG405V
I’m not sure how you would install GammaOS directly on the device. You need to first do the initial process on your PC
