Would love to see a fault analysis on speed on approach, have a pupil who keeps on doing this and have repeatedly tried to get them to slow down, they do for a short while and then next lesson back to going to fast.
Would like to see you cover lane discipline in this manner. (Normal driving) I find the pupils sometimes don't know why they drifted even when given a lot of potential reasons
Thanks for watching. I guess the list of possible mistakes a learner could make will be endless! Is there a particular fault you’ve experienced you’d like me to cover next?
@@How-2-drive hi I'm just beginning my part 3 but because of covid I can't get started, round abouts would be good or faults at traffic lights, that you for your reply 👍
Hi Howard, can you cover Hesitancy when emerging left or right. I have a pupil who struggles with this and i'm scratching my head on how to help her thanks Sandra
Like it, great suggestion, there are so many reasons, easy to see why instructors may jump to conclusions. It's on my list, thanks for watching Sandra!
Howard, please would you be kind enough to cover the DL25 and what the examiner is specifically looking for in respect of Part 3 for a PDI. The do and don't and analysis of each area please? Is this a big ask?
This fault would sit under section 21 junctions / cutting corners on DL25 Hope that helps! Have you got a copy of DT1 Examiners Guidance, useful tool if not?
HI could you please explain why there is double dotted give way lines across this road and why its not one way road.. i have seen this kind of road and was worried if someone might come out keeping their right position while i want to enter into this road ? really looking for answer for this.. it will be a great help...
I honestly don’t know why they do this on some roads. We must assume al roads are 2 way unless stated otherwise. Do you have any junctions like this in your local area, we have lots here in Norwich
@@How-2-drive Thanks for your reply, I have seen this kind of road in Bromley and lewisham area but mainly in quite residential area.. .. Anyway thanks for your videos it’s a great help.. all the best
Bit embarassed as a PT3 I do not know why double give way lines can cover the entire road. Instead of just half. What is the answer please, cannot find out over internet
@@How-2-drive is this the answer. ruclips.net/video/lmTXNjbMjyE/видео.html Double give way lines across entire road. Not just half. Help. This is under serious fault 5 at end video. The video explains that this is the end of the road on a One Way road
@@How-2-drive I would say it’s simply a mistake , have seen it occasionally in residential areas . As you commented.. no signs , treat the street as two way .
I’m really perplexed. Couldn’t understand it until a video came on today by Driving Crawley. So it looks like the pupil went up an unmarked one way road the wrong way ????? End of a dual carriageway ending at a T junction.
Howard, other than being busy, how does it feel June on and being largely free of Covid. The PDi PT3 at 45 mins is very tight , do you know if fail or pass rates have changed , thanks Dan
Thanks for the video Howard. I agree with the other comments about having issues identifying when the learner is coasting. Could you also add "watching the pupil in a lesson" to the list? In other words, watching the road ahead and watching the pupil at the same time. Thank you in advance.
Take control! Explain the benefits of engine braking and the effects of coasting. Instruct on when to depress clutch. Get them to ‘feel’ the difference for themselves. Keep an eye on it and prompt until it’s habit
I would also like to see you cover the top ten reasons why pupils fail. Maybe break each failure down into bit sized videos rather than one long video, if possible please Howard?
Ok, one of the main reasons PDI's fail is because of poor fault analysis, the top of this video. By taking a fault and analysing it correctly (ie, getting to the root cause) will mean PDI's come up with the correct remedial action. Are you needing help with the remedies to my 10 suggested possible causes? If so, write down what you would do for each and I'll take a look, email to howard@how-2-drive.com
Becki, just look above and directly underneath the actual video where there is some text written by Howard, it says 'One of the top reasons etc, etc'. Underneath that it says in capital letters SHOW MORE. Click on SHOW MORE. You will find it there. Happy hunting.
Hi Howard. I like your videos. However there is an annoying hissing noise in the background. Can this be sorted at all please for future videos. Backing out onto a main road is not an illegal manoeuvre. It’s not advised, but it’s certainly not illegal
The fault should be, why have you just gone into a no entry road, with those markings that's what it is, if it were one way there would only be one broken line.
Mmm, not so sure that’s right! Two way roads do have double giveaway lines extending across the whole junction with no centre white line! Pretty common mistake pupils make thinking it’s one way. Of course if it was a one way or no entry signs would be posted. If it was a no entry, we’d need to intervene to prevent the illegal turn.
I'm sure there will be at least one that you can find in your area. We've got a lot in Norwich on housing estates and I've never really understood why they mark them this way. Some roads are quite wide, but most are narrow. I'll find a picture of one near me that pupils often assume it's a one way and post it in this thread. Thanks for watching BTW

Very useful and informative video especially the part containing ten possible reasons of the fault.
