  • The "Institute of Wood Science and Technology" in Bangalore creates a new woodworking diploma course thanks to the cooperation with Biesse India.
    On 14 May 2018, Biesse India has signed MoU with Institute of Wood Science and Technology, Bangalore to jointly develop one year Diploma in Advanced Woodworking. It’s a great step forward in the collaboration between the world of Training and Work.
    Features of the course:
    -Unique course and first of its kind in India for training participants in advanced woodworking technology.
    -Course breakup: ~ 70% Practical & 30% Theory/Classwork
    -Impart relevant training in line with industry requirements.
    -Affiliated with Furniture & Fittings Skill Council (FFSC) under National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), New Delhi.

    -Trained resources capable of handling/supervising operations and readily employable in industry/services.

    About IWST
    Institute of Wood Science & Technology (IWST) is mandated to conduct research on wood science and technology as a national objective and focuses its research problems to important forestry research in regional level. In this region, emphasis is placed on research relating to forestry, forest products and non-wood forest products. The Institute mainly aims to develop strategies for sustainable use and production of wood and other forest products.
    The institute having a sprawling campus of 10 hectares in Malleshwaram, the heart of Bangalore city. The Institute has staff strength of 148 personnel with 38 Scientists in Bengaluru with 6 Divisions and 5 Cells. In addition to this, the Institute has advanced woodworking training center (AWTC) in its premises. It was started as the first Training Center in India, which aims to enhance the quality of Indian wood products manufacturing industries to attain global competitiveness by using the state of art machineries from Italy. The vision of the college is to attain excellence in forestry and wood science research for generation of desired resource values products and services in a way that sustains diversity and productivity in an eco-friendly regime and to generate, preserve, disseminate and advance knowledge, technologies and solutions for addressing issues arising out of interaction between people, forests and environment on a sustained basis through research, education and extension.
