I was seven years old when this came out and I just turned 52 last month. I was so young and free and not a care in the world back then and I can remember those days like if they were YESTERDAY. My mother had a Champaign colored 1970 Chevelle with black SS stripes, man I loved that car so much and I remember crying the day my parents sold it🤬. The 70s were a magical time in America and the drive in theaters where we watched movies like Jaws and Star Wars, Smokey and The Bandit ect. I grew up in the 70s and I would kill to go back to that time in my life. Where has the time gone? To you young people out there, don't rush to grow up and hold on to 16 as long as you can because life is short.

Beautiful song. Beautiful Yvonne. Beautiful backup dancer in the orange dress. She moves to the music like water in a stream, wind in leaves, fire in logs. Exquisite. I watched it several times just to see the woman in orange moves.
Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight!! I think this world needs to look at the way music used to be. No colors, just amazing people making the best best music together!!
Great observation. Yvonne Ellimam, who just hit 70, hails from Hawaii. She got both japanese and caucasian. We all created in God's image and I conclude that while ancestry and ethnicity, nationality, etc is important as it is part of who an individual is, but doesn't make the individual a good or bad person, as I see it we all done come from Adam and eve. Makes the whole concept of race a bunch of bull jive that some say only came up in more recent centuries.

Personally, I think this could be a hit if it was released today...at least if a big name was on it. It's a very solid song for a top female singer with a great voice.
It's A great song still too this in the right perspective if you get The right Singer with the right song here but I don't know how it'll pan out Today cuZ nobody comes close like Yvonne Elliman basically That s the truth cuZ she's still the right eous cool babe with this song cuZ nobody can take her place Ever again
I always liked this song. I don't know if Yvonne Elliman had any other hits, but I always though she was underrated. Lots of people say that disco is musical trash, but this song is interesting. It reminds me a little of salsa, in that while the beat is danceable, the key in which it's sung and the lyrics are melancholy, giving the song some weight. And I think Elliman's voice is great - so clear and mellifluous.
She sang "I dont know to love him" which is a beautiful song. We all knew her music back in the 70s before this song. She toured a lot with Eric Clapton back in the day.. I love her voice. She hasn't fared well In recent times. She was no one hit wonder.

When Yvonne opens her eyes and smiles at whoever it is in the audience at 1:15, is very lucky. If she had done that to me, my heart would have skipped a beat , my knees would have buckled, and i would have been in a heap on the floor. Beautiful lady and a wonderful song.

She is so amazing. The Gibbs writing is brilliant. I know Freddy Perren arranged this masterpiece including some of the most amazing strings/orchestra ever. And the musicians are incredible and dynamic (the drums and bass mind blowing). That turn around section after the chorus is batty. Why, how, what were they thinking? Its almost insane. The production on this song is arguably one of the best in modern music history. Maybe ever. God bless these people. What a gift to humanity.
