Fabulous video. I am an experienced woodworker, but at this stage of my life I want to focus more on hand work. Absolutely love the simplicity and confidence of your approach. Wood is such a forgiving medium and I really appreciate that you teach that very good results can be reached without having to purchase thousands of dollars in tools. Thank you!! I'll be watching
just started joinery training this week and our topic to draw and cut joints. appreciate very much for this lesson. got a sliding bevel square now I know how to use it. I'll look for the two saws you're using here
Thanks for all your work, I really appreciate the content and think you’re doing a great job. Loving your work! PS I’m working up to building the bench, have the plans and will be getting the DVD
so, I tried this, and it cam out well, but its too tight... is there a process for paring down either the tails or pins to get a better fit, or does it not matter?
Really thank you so much sir...I feel like I'm a professional carpenter ...while yours Vedio seeing that time.... really very very useful for freshers ♥️
I like your dovetails,Joshua, everyone is so obsessed with making them perfect, the masters in the 1700s weren’t perfect.. just look at the antique road show furniture,it was far from perfect 👍😊
Thanks for an excellent upload! About to head to the workspace to finish off my Dovetail after finishing with the guided lessons and this was a great refresher for me to watch. Well-shot, nice editing, and very informative.
@@gbwildlifeuk8269 Your right mine are junk. And yours look like God made them. Personally I use a jig to build bee boxes by the dozens. Wish I had your Godly skills though.
@mybossisdrunk Triggered? Hardly. Calling out a blow hard is not being Triggered. And for the record I don't get Triggered. I'm incapable as I don't have a trigger mechanism. Pissed maybe. Mad sure. But not Triggered... lol
Great video, thank you. The importance of cutting just up to the line without going over is particularly useful. thanks again!
Explained perfectly
purchased three items from your video. love it.
When u remove pin waste and rotate chisel, do u try to shoulder the edge of the chisel against the pin to follow the angle better
Well done
Just saved me a whole bunch
You kinda sound sound like spacey. Great tips

I have my mechanical workshop practicals tomorrow, I hope I don't screw things up 😢
How do you cut a haunch using a tenon saw?
Easy, hold my beer....
Sharper chisel would help
One of the better tutorial for hand cut dovetails I've seen. Thank you. I'm feeling ready now.
I agree. I also feel ready and I am on my way to start... THANK YOU.
and how did it go? Tomorrow I have to make 8 pieces and they have to be done by hand - I'm not sure if it will keep the level of workmanship.
Thanks Joshua - _very_ helpful.
@everyone_else - Am I the only one wishing the 'thumbs down' peoples would at least have the courage to tell us why?
Right? This is possibly one of the clearest best made dovetail vids ever made.
This was a technical meditation. Relaxing and instructional simultaneously. I think I'll watch it again. 😌 Thank you.

probably wouldn't use the marking gauge, leaves an impression at the end.
Aren't the pins too narrow and tails too wide? I would think the join would be stronger if they were similar in size.
Really great video! Thank you!
the chisel shines like a surgical instrument, it's a pity it's not equally sharp.
Everyone is cutting pine, show me on Oak.
I have a question, for the dove tail & the dove tail grooves, do they have to be in specific proportion?
Show de bola meu amigo parabéns pelo seu trabalho ganhou mais um inscrito e deixo aquele like valeu👍🏻👍🏻💯💯🤝
This was a great video for a beginner. Gives so much confidence for me to try it now. Thanks

Such calming videos to watch…
Very informative! Thank you!
Thanks for the video! Any issues with using a Japanese/pull saw to cut the dovetails?
This was excellent.
Very nice. Would you do this on my speaker box if I had the Walnut shipped to you?
Wow!! This is nicely (thoroughly) explained. You’re an inspiration!!! Thanks 👍
Well.... I lasted all of about 5 minutes before I through the wood in the trash. Lol maybe next time
Nicely done sir. I like this video. Very straightforward and simply put!
Great video. I feel ready to fail at making dovetails now 😂
Great tips there! Thank you!
THANK YOU! I finally feel ready.
Thanks, great presentation which clarifies the process.

Great video. A real lost art.

☺☺
Solid work.
Poplar?
Gotta love the Cosman dovetail saw! Like your process and all good advice - Thanks!
"Quick version" Hahaha... That's a riot. Nothing about hand cut dovetails are quick. Not if they fit anyway..
Obviously yours dont fit! When you can do them theyre not slow!

@gbwildlifeuk8269 Do you have a video up of your high speed precision hand cut dovetails? We would all love to see it.

7:30 Crumbling wood is an indication of a dull chisel.
Nice job
