Even as a seasoned modder, this is a fantastic refresher course and an amazing guide for installing and using Stardrop as well. Getting back into Stardew after a break and being able to use Stardrop for much easier mod management has been a blessing, and your guide came out at the perfect time for me. Appreciate the hard work!
Since ur a seasoned modder as you said I have a question me and my friend have a co op world and I wanna add some quality of life mods if we both downloaded it would it add it to our world or how would it work?
I've been using Vortex/Nexus to mod for years because all of the modding guides for games went completely over my head and I didn't feel like I could figure it out myself. This guide is super helpful and doesn't make me feel like a luddite.
Oh my gosh! I usually rage quit when I try to do stuff like this on my own, but this video really helped! I messed up a few times, but you made it so easy to go back and find out what I missed. Thanks for the awesome video!!
I had no idea the stardrop mod manager existed and being able to have profiles is very exciting to me. I also did not know you could organize mods into folders so thank you for making this updated mod guide. I love learning new things despite being a seasoned player.
I just recently got into modding stardew and this guide was so informative and helpful, i play so many other games and the amount of extra videos i've had to watch/ending up doing my own research to figure out what to do is substantial, this is BY FAR the BEST educational video/breakdown i have EVER seen for anything. AMAZING work, thanks for making this process so much easier!!!
just got into modding, and while I had figured out how to start I had no idea about the rest of it. I looked for how to disable mods, found this video and I am so happy I did! It's really straight forward and I appreciate it since I know I can trust this video since I trust your channel (as much as one does with people they don't know irl)
Thank you for this!! I was about to “try” and help my sister get started with mods for her Stardew Valley game play and voila, you made this video. So I just sent this to her. Also, love your content and been a long time supporter. Keep doing what you’re doing. ❤
Thank you so much! 💕 I just got Stardew Valley for PC for the first time not that long ago; since the 1.6 update hasn’t come to console just yet~ I know I know lol 😅 You helped make installing mods a lot less stressful & not as overwhelming as I initially thought. Thank you so much again 💕
Trying to figure out mods has always been a severe challenge for me, but this video. *chefs kiss* MUAH. Love it. Thank you for basically making stardew mods "for dummies" guide
I've modded tons of games from minecraft to bg3 to raft and 7dtd, but for some reason have had so much trouble with modding Stardew. This is such a thorough and helpful video, I FINALLY got my mods working, thank you!
I've been trying to find a way to switch between files with different mods and this video is such a godsend. While for some reason I couldn't find Stardrop, the explanation of the .off folder is just the simplicity I needed. The only other answers I could find were basically massive walls of text that were a headache to try to read through. Thank you so much.
This is legitimately the best game related guide I have ever seen in my life. This was an absolutely PERFECT guide that was easy to understand, easy to follow, everything was labelled so I can skip around 1000 out of 10.
This might sound a little ridiculous but hear me out alr? You're a life saver. Thank you so much as someone who struggles to process information this guide was incredibly helpful and seeing everything step by step was so useful! I've never managed to mod things before (I'm also scared of ruining the og game and not being able to play it) but this helped me get the mods I wanted. Now all I gotta worry about it my storage and lack of control. THANK YOU!
ive finally gotten access to a pc that is actually capable of running games without screaming at me so im finally trying to play stardew on pc and of course that means i get to try out some mods. ive literally only ever modded sims so i have absolutely no idea what im doing, but im thrilled to find such a well detailed video to help me figure it out. i am going to add this to my list of things to study when awake enough to give it a try haha
I used Vortex for about a year now, but especially since the Update to 1.6 I've started to get lots of problems, because of missing files, wrong installation etc (maybe because there are so many of them now). So I watched your video to get rid of Vortex without getting mad while trying to keep managed about 200 mods. I think I try Stardrop for once, but will definitely track all of my installed mods on Nexus in case I switch to manual organisation. Your video was very helpful for me,; so thank you! 🙃
Thank you for all the advice on stardew its been massively helpful :) got a challenge for you considering you are a stardew valley legend! Live on the farm for a year without going to the town or the mines and no foraging apart from what's on your farm. You can only go to the town once at the end of the year :) just a fun challenge idea.
I personally use Mod Organiser 2 as a replacement to vortex, but there are some mods that need specific installation methods (Mainly older mods or not designed for organizers).
I have been looking for a way to configure mods for an Ungodly amount of time. and could never find a propper explonation or way. so thank you so much for this :,)
I'm so dumb XD. I read the prompt "Where do you want to add or remove SMAPI" and assumed that it was answering itself with the "[1](File Location)" then when I saw "[2] Enter a custom game path" I assumed that was just step 2 and that "Type the number next to you choice, then press enter" meant I needed to find the number of the save file that I wanted to use the mods on. It just so happens that each world file has a seed number on it so I got stuck at that point. Thanks for the super in depth tutorial, very helpful.
thanks for doing this amazing video realise that it's more complicated than i thought haha lol but i having fun learning about the mods for stardew valley
Glad you enjoyed it! The basics are pretty simple once you get the hang of it, but we can always do more if we want, which is something I love about modding.
The amount of mods that are available is crazy and I can't wait to try them out. However, I think it is a better idea for me to play to game atleast up to the point I've finished the community centre on vanilla, before I install any of these mods.
Its unfortunate that nexus has a limit for non premium people, ive only got 6 so far and i was so excited to get more, and im debating getting premium, but, if i dont pay the nest month ill still get the mods i downloaded right? may be a stupid question, but if anyone can just reassure me that would be great. other than that is this a great video! Thank you
THANK YOU HLIRFVAEGHLJKDBHV i accidentally broke my mods a few days ago and have been mucking about trying to fix it but it was SMAPI that was buggin and this made me realize how to fix it!!!! I LOVE U SM RTYYTYTYYT( sorry i have adhd and am excited this is my current hyperfixation)
THANK YOU THANK YOU I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR THIS!!!!!!! I didn't understand how to work this at all although I did have to google some stuff because I'm stupid and don't know crap about this I am now successfully playing with mods I can't explain how upset and confused I was when I couldn't understand the other tutorial's. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
Im somewhat curious to try out curseforge's mod support for the game but not sure how good it'll be, probably going to try a method you presented here first.
Omg I didn't know about mod managers 😆 I will be downloading Stardrop posthaste 😂 (finally I can download stardew expanded without killing my OG playthrough)
I have ridgeside and expanded. I can't run them both at the same time cos my laptop would be super laggy. So wanted to test to see if one at a time wouldn't lag. Eidt: I got a LOT of dialogue mods and I know they would conflict.
Im confused, i downloaded Smapi and added to my stardew vally through steam properties. Smapi actives when i enter stardew vally, however i cant find Smapi in my folders. Where can i find it? I am definitely missing something ;-;
I tried to do this and I followed your directions- but smapi keeps giving me the “it’s not a smapi mod” red text. I don’t understand why it won’t work- I’ve tried all I can think of.
if i may ask a question : when you say everything should work "as long as it's extracted and named properly", do you mean the files themselves, or does that also include the folders they come in? i would like to rename some folders that have been named by their modder, but i don't want the mods to not be recognised! thank you for your time and amazing tutorial xxxx
Just the folder themselves. At times, the folder will be extracted and someone will move the original zip folder over and not the mod folder and that can cause issues. For example, I just downloaded the mod "Like A Duck To Water" and if I extract it, the folder says "Like a Duck to Water-15860-0-2-1-1679151359" but inside it is the regular "LikeADuckToWater" folder. The one without the numbers is the one you want. And the named properly part was also referring to not having a period at the beginning of your folder name for when you manually disable folders.

Yay! I wanted to showcase a few different ways to do things as I've had issues with Vortex breaking SVE installs. Glad it helped!
It honestly helps that this game is so easy to mod. Most are frameworks or copy/paste folders
