Nayari Kellogg, I think the word you mean is 'homage', not 'mimic'. The former is done out of love, and to pay respect to something, the latter is done because of a lack of ability, and often a desire to ridicule.

Kyle Hart, I don't believe he did any such thing. Yet even if he did, he has to have meant that *elements* of The Planets can be discerned throughout the entire Star Wars soundtrack, not that it 'is made of' The Planets.

Every piece in Holst's "Planets" is remarkable. When listening, I feel like there is a vivid timeline or distinct story. Old age is initially is met with a claustrophobic fear of death, hence the rapid, loud climb. It then gives way to a serene sort of acceptance-the peaceful end that finishes with darkness.

In spite of the consensus, I do not find this composition to be sad. I find it mysterious, ethereal, beautiful beyond words. Beyond time and space! It's like something made out of stone or ice. Something passing through. One's hair stands on end, but one doesn't know why.
It's ponderous - lethargic even. It is slow and relentless. It erodes galaxies. It is the beautiful, terrible, everpresent little snag in the fabric of the universe, from whence hail the creatures of the exterior.
The pizzicato march signifies the unstoppable wrath and momentum of Kronos. Where the intro laid the foundation of existence, the march assembles its scaffolds. And when these structures are finally established, it is at last revealed that there was never any malice in this entity. Though painfully alien, Kronos is inherently neutral.
To me, the abrupt, heavy braying of the brass section that follows sounds as though Kronos is suddenly turning and looking towards us... but only for a brief moment before he continues his march through spacetime, swathed in rags of nebulae. With each footfall issues forth a new era.

Saturn is transcendental, and perhaps that explains the appearance of sadness ... at first. There are sad parts during the journey of Saturn. To borrow @RebeccaETripp's Kronos explanation:
The music starts like the pendulum of time swinging, progressing along, with my mind keeping step; the horns sound like us looking at our watches, our time graphs, ... everyday life of time.
The movement shifts to sounding like something dreadful. Kronos, Grandfather time, plodding along the path of time. I gaze at Kronos to see my past, my present, and my future. The slumbering Kronos slowly turns to look at me, and I'm scared by oppressive dread of being squashed underfoot. I realize that my time is also being kept. The percussion and bells sound off the alarm that ticks faster on my life. The fear and uncertainty oppresses me.
"Had you forgotten?" says the deep, dreadful voice of Kronos as he still gazes down at me. "Yes", my frail tiny voice admits. "Remember ...", and Kronos gazes deep within me, through me; and I through Kronos' eyes. My memories erupt emotions of regret, lost love; of time gone by too quickly, and thoughts of my future uncertain. Kronos intends to devour me up in the forgotten sands of time like my memories! to press me down into dust as time passes by.
But the broody music changes, the harp and flutes lift me up. A light flickers on my memories, to brighten them in my mind again, remembering my friends and family long passed -- the joyful times, the smiles and laughs. I see my loved ones. We smile, and laugh again. I feel no malice, no harm against me. I reach out to my loved ones in my memories. My fear vanishes. My mind and feelings transcend to a realm beyond description.
My fear becomes awe. I realize the path of time, the awesome infinity of time; that Kronos is, has been, and always will be. It is beautiful... radiant and light as the sun rise and sunset. I cannot describe the radiant beauty that I hear. Tears flood my eyes. I yearn to remember, to be with my loved ones again; to be living in the present with people I love now, and to face my future without fear. Tears stream down my cheeks with the music. "Please..." I cry out. "I am here," Kronos' calming, deep voice reassures me. Kronos envelopes me in a warm embrace. I embrace all times. My tears dry up and I smile. I am at peace now. In the end I transcend with Kronos to the beginning. We keep walking the path of time.
Saturn is a uniquely moving piece to me. Kronos lets us reflect on our lives through time.

"You feel yourself flying through the vastness of space. Silence, blackness, emptiness, space! There is only your mind and the infinite expanse of stars that lies in all directions. One small point of light millions of miles away, a familiar sight but an unknown world. A world of whose colors and beauty shimmer through even the darkest of voids. A feeling of loneliness and unease coupled with emotions of joy and excitement. Few eyes have seen what none know. A colorful sphere, a mysterious and glorious world! A world whose silence seems to shout to the heavens and proclaim the works of a creator. You recall your humble home, your place in a great tapestry called humanity. It is then that you realize how insignificant you really are in the eyes of the universe, yet you are among the most unique of things. The beings, those who are aware that they exist. Planets are spheres of creation, they silently glide through space as we attempt to make progress. Entire worlds, progressing in their own way, unknown to them that we even exist." - My random thoughts while the music was playing

At least the way I see it is that it shows the internal battle of accepting death and old age, that it's inevitable.

0:12 The old man is laying in his bed, fighting a battle with cancer that will inevitably end with death. He feels the strength beginning to fade from his muscles, his breathing gets shallower. He gasps hoarsely, "Donna...." The woman looks over at her husband and her eyes fill with tears. She knows what will happen soon. She waves over their daughter, who walks into the room. She is also fighting tears. Their daughter sits down beside the mother. The old man breathes in again, knowing any of these could be his last. He looks at his wife and daughter. "Donna... Tammy..." he whispers softly. "He doesn't have long, Mom." said their daughter, Tammy. 4:58 A dizzying spiraling feel suddenly overtakes the man. He falters for a moment, terror constricting his lungs. He struggles to breathe and tries futilely to talk to his family at his bedside. They watch him, knowing there is nothing they can do as the man falls into unconsciousness. 6:25 The man opens his eyes, but no light befalls him. He tries to look around. Nothing but cool, peaceful darkness. He stands up and starts to walk around. Suddenly, the space above him opens up and a gout of sunlight pours in on his head. He shields his eyes as he looks upon the Gates of Heaven. He hears the sound of trumpeting bugles in the distance, and angels singing. He sighs softly. This is where I will stay, forever more, he thought. The Gates opened almost soundlessly, and the man walked into the Kingdom of God.

"The concept of the work is astrological rather than astronomical (which is why Earth is not included, although Sun and Moon are also not included while including the non-traditional Uranus and Neptune): each movement is intended to convey ideas and emotions associated with the influence of the planets on the psyche, not the Roman deities. The idea of the work was suggested to Holst by Clifford Bax, who introduced him to astrology when the two were part of a small group of English artists holidaying in Majorca in the spring of 1913; Holst became quite a devotee of the subject, and would cast his friends' horoscopes for fun." -Wikipedia

I'm glad to see how great music is still inspiring today. Elden Ring's music is some of the best orchestral compositions of the modern era, and one song in particular, "Astel, Naturalborn of the Void" makes obvious reference to Saturn, using similar note patterns like a B note followed by an A note. It is fitting given both songs are themed around cosmic ideas. I know its hard for older people to view video games as more than just mindless entertainment for children, but the storytelling and especially the music of some more complex games is some of the most unique stuff out there. The song I mentioned earlier, "Astel, Naturalborn of the Void" feels like a natural extention to this song, just with more modern twists. Inspiring me to try and make my own space themed orchestral song

My mum wasn't knowledgeable about classical music, but was absolutely entranced by Saturn - even more so than the more popular ones like Jupiter. She said she could imagine the funeral procession and the dignity of it all.
I was a bit stirred up at the time and was thinking about the cemetery in our home town and the path up to the graves.
Mum died last year. I haven't been able to listen to this before now, but while talking with my little grandson about the suite after it came up on Bluey, he asked if there was one for Saturn.

I listened to the suite for the first time at age 8 or 9 and didn't care for this piece, preferring the overt joyousness of Jupiter, serenity of Venus, and playfulness of Mercury, which felt more comforting to me as a young child. But revisiting it as an adult, I'm blown away. It's not happy, it's mysterious and a little unsettling, but the goosebumps I get during parts of this, especially 2:15-3:28 and that repeating melody at 3:33 and giving the impression of getting closer and closer until the crescendo at 5:47 and then fading, it gives me chills... and that ending, where the bleak feel of despair turns to a melancholic but calm acceptance, what a masterpiece.

Regardless whether it was based on astrology or astronomy, what I take away from this magnificent masterpiece is the way it touches my emotions.
A space drifter pulled into the gravity trap of the Solar system. As his ship approaches the Lord of the Rings, he can't help but become in awe at the planet's mysterious look that strikes fear in his heart.
After having explored the planet long enough, he decides it's time for him to leave.
As he exerts his ship's impulse to depart, he feels overwhelmed. His impression has been altered. He approached in fear, but departs with appreciation of this celestial body's beauty and awesomeness.

So austere, mysterious and mighty, with dark tones, even frightening in some points, a piece very different to all the others, with surprising crescends and variations of the theme, wich is also so calm, deep and magic in the last two minutes, like an "ode to death*" with those bells in the background to the astral atmosphere created by the other instruments, symbolizing also the unity of time.
    🪐a very unique masterpiece🪐

What I love about this is that you can tell how influential The Planets has been to a lot of popular film scores. Star Wars, Alien, and I’m not sure what else, but I can definitely hear those sci-fi threads in a lot of these numbers.

Astel Naturalborn of the stars, Fallingstar beast and any of the celestial bosses have their boss theme based on this. I knew why there was something terrifying about them. It's so eerie.

Compared to Jupiter, to me Saturn is the gentle giant

List of reasons why you are WRONG:
      1. Saturn destroyed its old moons in the late Cretaceous 100 million years ago, forming rings and a completely new set of moons. The only survivors of its older set of moons are Rhea, Titan, Hyperion, Iapetus and its 58, as of 2020, outer moons, including former dwarf planet Phoebe.
      2. Under that beauty lies a beast of a planet. Its winds blow around it at a staggering 1800 km/h. To give some perspective, that is more than 3 times the speed of the wind speed in the 1999 Bridge Creek-Moore tornado, the fastest recorded wind speed on Earth. Jupiter's storms clock in at 680 km/h and Uranus' storms clock in 900 km/h. In the solar system, Neptune is the only object with a faster wind speed at 2200 km/h.

I don't see it that way.
Those quiet parts at the end, to me anyway feel like a relief after trauma. Think of it like from 4:58 is an emergency landing and by 6:05 it's all over and everyone's relieved.
