- Are you looking to upgrade your Ranged gear in OSRS? Maybe just looking to plan out your oldschool Runescape Range Gear Progression? Then this is the guide for you. There were a few other OSRS ranged gear progression guides but they were a few years old so it is time to make a new resource for you. This guide will focus on guiding mains through the gear progression for magic combat. I will do it in progressive tiers to make it easier for making chapters so that you can skip to your budget if need be. I will let you know what my opinion is about what you should upgrade when and why it is the optimal choice. If you have a differing opinion, you are probably wrong, but that's okay, put it down in the comments below.
disclaimer... I know I messed up on the ranged bonuses and GP, I caught it at the end after I already spent like 12 hours filming and editing. It doesn't change which gear you should upgrade when, so it doesn't really matter for the overall usefulness of the video.

So im 80 ranged and like 70 def, i should do dragon slayer 2 then? i already have full blessed dhide on the iron but no vorkath backpack (nevr tried it)
@@jackscaping3618 yes, you should be good to go, I used melee on vork because I bought a fang, but the quest kills are easy anyway

I think avas assembler before barrows gloves or blessed d hide is backwards. Sure it's bigger but there's no way the average player does ds2 before getting blessed hide or barrows gloves

im not a raider mostly just pet hunting in slayer question zcb or torva pl8 not sure what 1 has more uses (if it helps i am not a raider)
what ring would you recommend leveling up ? be it bought from the GE or from a quest, my guess is ring of wealth till i can afford something better but i wonder if there could be a better ring

What about the granite ring? dirt cheap and gives +8 ranged (or 16 when imbued). don't see it in any gear progression videos so im wondering if im fucking up by using it.
It gives range defence but this ring has no range accuracy or damage. if you can't afford a lightbearer you could use it but it really wont do much for you.
I'm currently @ Bofa build, I was wondering should I aim for Zaryte Vambs or buy ZCB to do some other content?
If you have the GP to get the ZCB I would get the ZCB, thing absolutely rips as a spec wep

Super niche question BUT do you think it would be better to kill Nex camping zcb the whole time with hides, or main hand zcb and have bofa for minions / reavers OR bofa/crystal armour with void waker as spec?
You would blowpipe the minions if anything. Bowfa isnt even close to blowpipe without crystal armor on and you don't want to bring in a crystal armor swap or main it since the mage defence of god dhide is important and so are those inventory slots. You would never want to use bowfa on Nex either vs even an adamant crossbow. I would recommend Karil's top and bottom as well because its a significant increase in tankyness. Voidwaker is slightly better than zcb, but you can just main zcb instead its less hassle. I would highly recommend not doing mass Nex kills if thats what you are doing, and if youre already doing small teams I would highly recommend these two guides:

The reason for the hate on mass Nex is that its incredibly easy to go 1000/2000 kills without seeing a single drop. While small teams you see a drop on 43 kills on average if your splitting with your small team. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
@@edwing8682 thanks for the detailed breakdown, I really appreciate it! I’ve been using bofa with crystal armour and voidwaker as spec wep. However, now your comment makes me wanna sell my voidwaker to purchase zcb/ buckler and rock Karils the entire time xD I was doing 30 man masses for a bit but recently started doing smaller 16ish man masses, better drop rate chance but less survivability, pros and cons for both, what do you think? Also, I wanna be apart of smaller teams but the gear requirements are insane
@@glizzygobbler6841 So the main way to do Nex small teams is to find either a clan you like to play with that does small teams or there is also probably a small teams bex discord out there. 6 man teams are super doable with a fang, karils, and a rune crossbow. My first 100 small teams KC was with a rune crossbow doing 3/4 man teams lol. So the requirements are potentially quite low ( about 45/50 mil) if you find people who aren't sweaty assholes to play with. 16 mans arent quite cutting it though it's a step in the right direction. I'd say 8 mans are kind of the max size id want to do. The only "truly dangerous" part of the fight should be p2 when she's ranging you, if you're dying other places you'll probably want to practice sitting at higher health.

I think my gear should be enough to do small teams, it’s just everyone I’ve spoken to doesn’t want to split with someone “not pulling their weight” which I understand, it just sucks not being able to hop in a team without masori + zcb. If I scrap my bank clean I should be left with a basic fang set up in karils + zcb/ buckler. Also, I don’t have a clan to take advantage of xD
@@glizzygobbler6841 Also I forgot to mention but I only do Nex with my clan mates so that's why I didn't have any issue finding a team/them having high requirements. And I'm terms of your build with the approx money it seems you have I think your potential best set up for small teams would be masori (f) a fang, a voidwaker, and an acb. If that's just barely too expensive drop to rune crossbow from armadyl cross. And if it's significantly too expensive drop voidwaker but keep armadyl crossbow if possible. Masori (f) is just so massive. That's if you succeed in getting into a small teams group where your actually meleeing most of the boss except p2 and minions. If you think you'll send a bunch of those 16ish man raids then zcb twisted buckler is gonna be your best bet for sure at getting MVP, but again hopefully you can find a smaller group.
When would you invest in rigour?
Before bowfa/acb. Honestly i’d get it even earlier it’s so good
Would you now get the venator ring over the buckler?
Depends on your setup, buckler is like 5 venator rings worth of range str. But if you arent using crossbow, you arent using buckler
dhide body reqs dragon slayer too bud.
I have a corrupted bowfa, but i would not recomend if you are on mobile and your ping sucks like mine. I would invest in a dhc instead. Bowfa is like the range version of the osmunteng fang, and the fang is much cheaper now.
There have been so many new ranged items introduced in the game that I dont follow anything anymore

Good guide, but not sure why you shorten Bowfa instead of giving its actual name so people don't have to go look it up. Bowfa stands for Bow of Faerdhinen
