You know, this actually shows how Sega’s sound team were experimenting with what they could do with the Genesis sound chip. Notice that this song doesn’t have a DAC Channel and instead uses Channel 2 for its drums or how there are no PSG’s to speak of (or in this case, hear of) like in later Genesis tracks? Considering Super Hang-On was released in 1989 and the Genesis had just come out at that time, the sound team did their best to make it sound as close as the Arcade version as possible with the instruments they had to work with. This doesn’t just go to the music, it goes to everything else as well. I think the earlier Genesis games were a very experimental period for Sega and certainly are gems that still hold up today. But of course, this is all just speculation since the only Genesis game from this period I played was this one, Super Hang-On and yeah, I do think the game’s soundtrack is great, even if I’ve only ever heard Outride a Crisis.
Hello! I want to ask You so much! How did You make it all? This deconstructions! It's so interesting, but I want to make music in Sonic style, how to get instruments? In deconstructions instruments play together, so hard to take a part of audio, there will be one channel of song without another. Please, answer me, English isn't my tongue language and I really worked hard on this comment. :)
1. Install Foobar2000 www.foobar2000.org/download 2. Install GEP Player www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_gep 3. Get .vgm files www.zophar.net/music 4. While playing these files back through Foobar2000, under the "view" title on the top row, open "GEP Control". 5. Mute and unmute channels to get instruments. 6. Record (I use Audacity) www.audacityteam.org/download/
God bless Sonic Team for putting this in Sonic Riders. Otherwise, I would've never heard this amazing track for a long time.
This song is in Sonic Riders? That's some cool shit.
This is in sonic riders? I’ve never played it but that’s sick
Thanks for this info. Forever nostalgia hearing this when me and my bro played mega drive in 90’s. Didn’t know it’d made its way into a modern game.
Sorry for pointing it out... but 1:30 is basically the lick.
Anyways, love this tune, love these desconstructions, love this channel, keep it up, man!
Ah... The power of Genesis
I'm pretty sure this is the Arcade version

I wonder if the arcade version of this also uses FM drums, and they just converted it from the arcade directly.

No, only sampled PCM drums in the arcade release.
@Lekk Lekk Yeah most likely.
Nostalgia hit hard as soon as I heard the first tones. A really underrated soundtrack.
The original arcade version of this track is possibly in my top 10 ever; top 20, easily.
Esse jogo faz parte da minha infância, muito bom
Da minha tbm kkk tenho um cartucho do Mega Drive que vem 10 jogos dele, e esse é um deles mto bom msm
Man, I wish SEGA would release the arcade version of Super Hang-On to the Switch. Such a great game.
Would be great if you could do the Revenge of the shinobi or Streets of Rage OST
This is my favorite track from this game. Thanks for making this deconstruction
Oh yes!! One of the best soundtracks!
Love this, my favorite tune in this game!
ROAD TRIP!
12:06 EVERYBODY NOW!!
Love it! Please do the rest of the soundtrack, or at least Hard Road!
Truxton will be very great.... I wait it so much.... Thanks for all....
Nice job breaking it down!
Love this track LET'S GO!!
This was amazing! I was waiting for 12:18!!
I wish I wish this had noise PSG fast closed high hats
80's games were all about the word "Super". Too bad Mario's the only one who kept it.
Now waiting for Winning Run.
