Indeed! If only Ed Sheehan or any of his chums could come up with something even half as brilliant as this. It was so competitive back then with a huge variety of great records coming out every single week that this classic didn't even make the Top 40! They might sell billions today but if you could whisk em back in a time machine I doubt Ed or Adele would have even scraped into the Top 100 back then.

Jonathan Hill Consequences is one of the oddest albums ever released by a mainstream act, and despite not being the easiest of listens should be a lot more revered than it is.

consequences brilliant album, made perfect sense to me at 17 in 1977, song wise its contains the best songs they ever wrote as godley and creme.the sound effects on the album all are beautifully structured to represent angry climate elements and are tuneful and entertaining.

This is a nice, but excellent song. I don't know if it was a hit or not, albeit obviously being on TOTP. There was another very nice, flowing instrumental called The Flood as the B side of this. The vocals and backing harmonies on '5 O'Clock' are reminiscent of excellent old 10cc harmony ones like Old Wild Men (1974), Brand New Day ('75), and Don't Hang Up ('76).

For God's sake I'm not disputing any claim made for Lol Creme's musicianship. I accept that point 100%. I am disputing that the mere ability to recognise that it's good makes the recogniser anything special since it's shared with millions of other people who took music as an option at school.

Lovely tune. Disappointed that Godley and Creme have left 10cc, who have gone downhill since. They were the real brains of the outfit and, combined with Stewart and Gouldman's more pop sensibilities, they made some great, complex but radio friendly tunes. 10cc's output has become more ordinary and frankly rather boring pop. G and C's material has been ultra clever but just too leftfield and weird for my liking, apart from some great accessible and wonderful songs, of which this is one.
