Never realized this song is in drop d tuning… no wonder why I love it so much… something about drop d on acoustic is just super pleasing to my ears

Tim, thank you so much for this excellent Tutorial. I did the singing part in my car and now the guitar Part with you. Only thing left is to combine the two ... Probably the hardest. Cheers.

I like stergil simpson and colter wall I would definitely check out tutorials on them too if you ever have the time and are into them. Thanks Tim!

Great stuff. Picking up lots of things I’ve never caught before and incorporating them into how I play these songs now. Was wondering what guitar you’re using? Love the tone.

Amazing how the fingers stay on almost the same position of the neck buy yet its an entire song. Wow how does that work- Music keeps amazing me, the simplicity at times yet while listening sounds extremely complicated. Drop D makes it even richer. Thx for the lesson.
Could this played in double drop D also? By the way I would like to donate a couple of USD just so you can have a free lunch one day. With a beer. Dont know how🤷‍♂️. The lessons are soooooo helpfull my friend. Its worth it for me. Dont know how to send a private message in youtube realy.

Cant figure out the VERSE: That F note in my opinion only sounds right before back to D after sentence number 2 and sentence 4. Not after sentence 1 and 2. Correct? It can be played in two ways but since DropD is very forgiving I wanna make sure I play it correct.
1-I bought a house at the mouth of the holler
2-A ring at the pawn shop, and a crib for the kid
3-I heard some word there was work up in Hindman
4-I'm going tomorrow and hope that there is
Is -A ring at the pawn shop- sang over a D?
Is -I am going tomorrow- sang over a D?

Those line you're asking about are sung over a B note. So, the bassline progression on the verse that is being supported on guitar is D-C-B-F. Check out 8:10 and after in the video for that verse progression

Pssst... Beau b (formerly known as Anna?) I think you'd been requesting a Sturgill song for about a year... turns out I finally did one. Here's an approach for The Dead Don't Die if you're still itching for Sturgill stuff... ruclips.net/video/MZSJ6EqWsQM/видео.html

You should definitely speak the lyrics at the very least to better navigate the parts of the song. Thanks a bunch tho man. Helped a lot!

Gotta say this is one of the hardest guitar lesson videos I’ve tried to follow. Not a great camera angle with low visibility of the fingering. Talking over a majority of the playing and at a higher or even volume with the guitar. You put up the tab image alongside maybe 5% of the lesson and it seems most of the tabs you put up are missing a note you assumed were obvious. I appreciate the video but man this is gonna take me weeks to figure out and ive already resorted to writing my own tabs in my notebook so I don’t have to go back and reference this if i forget.
