As a teenager, working his way through college at a truckstop in New York State, I knew Joan Jett for about 9 months. We first met while I was at work, around 2am, right after she finished a performance at the local SUNY Binghamton. One hot evening, when Summer finally rolled around, Joan brought her old band _The Runaways_ to get a bite to eat. I met all of them, as they arrived in the parking lot. Her band-mates liked me so much, they did an on-the-spot performance of _Cherry Bomb_ for me (…an audience of ONE.) Imagine, back in 1984, having a nearly naked *Lita Ford* stare you right in the eye, from 6 inches away, while she sings _Cherry Bomb_ !!
I was all ready to not like this cover - Your voice is very sweet, and you have an amazing upper register. But I believed that this song needed some grit and growl, which isn't really your forte. But you changed it up just enough to make a classic young and fresh again. GREAT JOB! 😊

Your singing is fantastic! As an 80’s rocker myself I was 18 in 1981 I love all these songs. A suggestion I have for you and your friends when you do 80’s cover songs you also dress and look the part as well. If you look at what Joan Jett wore back then and do her covers I think you’d have fun dressing like her. I’m also wondering if you play rhythm guitar? If not maybe you could learn? Doing this song while playing guitar too would be a great visual 🙂

Joan Jett's version was also a cover, she recorded it in 1981 as an almost carbon copy of The Arrows original recording from 1975. I like your version too, well done.
