Quite the nice video. Good job. You left just enough room to get the nit pickers involved. I like the no BS approach. Like the fellow below I have had the CPUs for a while and just decided to do it. Thank you for your help and the inspiration to do it.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I have 2 CPUs in the garage for almost a year because I haven't had time. I was just scrolling through these videos and was presently surprised to see your video. First thing I did in the comments was to search for keyword: thermal paste. But to my surprise no one chimed in so i get to be the first. What's up with the 5 dots:) Just kidding. I've read a lot of opinions on that, and I thought the pea in the center was the most popular. I thought I saw a guys test where he tested different methods and temps weren't all that different, i can't remember which one won now. Anyway great video. Now I'll watch the rest of the video:)
Hi What type of thermal paste that you used? after I applied ARCTIC MX-6 (4 g) - Ultimate Performance Thermal Paste on mac pro 3,1 cpu a and cpu b. Now my mac pro will freeze up after 6-7 minutes. I searched online and found that someone will recommend Thermal Grease Kit for Mac Pro Early 2008 and someone else will suggest something else. Please advise. Thank you
By chance, I just ran across this video that shows which CPUs the 1,1/2,1 A1186 MacPros support. Go to 8:00 in the video listed below. But of course, these are NOT the dual 6-core processors you are looking for. ruclips.net/video/N3uh15NRSYg/видео.html

Why didn't you remove the memory cage/fan assembly first as to make more room for CPU removal?

What's the most powerful supported, cpu model for a 5.1 flashed 2008 mac pro?
Did you find any answers?
@@Th3_Gael no but I don't really care anymore
@@KUIJEN8659 thanks, getting that way too
Great Video!
what is the specification and how to change the font of this model Apple Model Number: A1186
Does this model take the dual 6 cores?
No. I think you have to have the later 4,1 or 5,1 models. Lots of YT videos and google-able info on which models support the various processors.
