The time really depends on if you are traveling with the tide or against the tide. I think it took us 5 or 6 hours to get to the chickee the first day.
I used to have a gheenoe and it would be great in that area. Just make sure the wind isn't too high. Most days it should be just fine especially once you get up around the mangroves.
@@paulumer4378 I've only been down there a couple of times so there are probably lots of options. But, you could travel up the Turner River or the Lopez River and stay on the Crooked Creek Chickee or the Lopez River camp site. Those areas get a lot of current but not much waves.
It's Chokloskee and Turner RIVER!
I just love these Geezer Chronicle videos. So neat to see these places and such great commentary.
Enjoyed. Hated sleeping on a chickee with no air mattress lol.
Awesome video! I had a blast going on that trip 😁, but I'll definitely get a Hobie paddle kayak next time 😅.
Very cool! Definitely in my bucket list. Do you have to reserve where you camped? Or is it like a first come first serve kind of thing?
Yes. You have to make reservations. You can reserve campsites at www.recreation.gov.
@@thegeezerchronicles got it! Thank you!
I wonder how long it them to get there?

I want to take my gheenoe there but those waves in the end of the video didn't look that good

@@thegeezerchronicles Thanks! What camp site would you recommend for fishing were current is not that bad ?
