Great video, been struggling with switching low on scoring visits so this is right up my alley. Any chance of an Andrew Gilding throw analysis given his recent brilliant success and lovely action?
I been watching your videos and honestly over the last month or so my darts have really improved. Im usally ok ish but im actually hitting what im going for now. Thank you so much
I do this exact drill. Has helped me a bit. Although i have zero talent. I have another good training game i often play. X01 in 9 I start with 101 and have to check out in 9. If i do it, go to 121, then 141, 161 etc. If i fail, i drop down to the previous target. My best is 201 in 7. (As i say, i have zero talent). I also play this game with 2 players. I.e. we are on the same team and alternate who starts. Lets say we are on 101 and i get 59 with my first 3, they then have to try for 42. If they don't i finsh. They start the next leg. Sometimes i jazz it up by requiring a double to start. It's good for calculating the finish, setting up, practising getting those essential singles (like if your left with 42, you gotta get a 2 or a 10. Even the pros mess that up occasionally) and having to get a double.
I'm still playing with my left hand, I can regularly average around 75 to 85, but its not offten I get better than that. I coach a good few professionals and a load of semi-pro players and in all honesty I'm not good enough yet. Might try super league/county this year to get more match practice. :)
Very helpful! May I ask what it is with the finger licking before throwing? I have seen Pros on TV also do it and I never could figure out why one does that? To clean the fingers? Or? Thanks! Keep em coming and guitar is 👍
Great video . Quick question. This might not be related to the current video but is it normal to experience pain in the shoulders after throwing for at least an hour daily? Been practicing for almost a month now.
Only if your lifting your elbow alot before the release and letting of the dart two late. Flick sooner and throw softer, all the power should be coming from the wrist and fingers. :)
Can I ask a random question please. How do I know what weight darts are right for me. Currently using Aspinall 26g but is there any tell signs that their too heavy or light?
Any weight will work, but the lighter the darts, the faster your arm needs to travel. For example, Steven Bunting 12g and his arm goes like a bullet, Ryan Searle 32g, and his arm seems fair more lethargic. Find the weight you can play alright with for longer. :)
I started darts a few months ago and I struggle switching targets. I can hit 20's 9 darts in a row and not a single miss. I switch to 19's and all 3 first darts miss. Hitting 16's even ... Would u say this is because my elbow is too high or do i release too early ?
My darts always seem to land in different angles, i think its my release but no matter what i tried it doesnt get better. I tried to open my hand as wide as i can for the release and they still fly very inconsistent in the air.
The the same shape of your hand as your flick instead of opening fast. But your problem is highly likely caused by unever pressure of the grip, you must be pushing to hard with one or more fingers on the barrel, causing the darts to fly sideways. Keep the grip pressure even with your index finger and thumb. Any other fingers should be just used as stabilisers, touching incredibly gently. :)
@@Straightdarts oh damn, the thing i never thought about is the pressure im holding the dart, i just realized after your comment that i grip very hard with my index finger and thumb and use other fingers to grip aswell. Big thanks for your advice it helped me a lot just now, never realized that. So simple sometimes isnt it?
I think i missed your body tilting from the back down and swiveling from the waist. Can you explain that too me as I am not following what you mean. My apologies. When I try just the movements, it seems dramatic when tilting my back and swiveling my waist. Thank you Daniel.
Watch the back of my head at 2:44 to 2:49 it's a slight lean, I'm not the tallest guy, so I don't need to tilt farward very much, haha 😆 😂. But that's all the adjustment is, it should be as little as possible, whilst allowing you to keep the arm the same and to throw down the line of the shot. :)
Flick the wrist more and throw softer, you need to get the release a touch earlier. Also, make sure you're not lifting your elbow until after the release. :)
Had to play guitar in at least one video 😄 🤣 let me know if it should stay. :)

Great suggestion!
Ok, just found your channel. Let's see what in can do for a motivated novice. Wish me luck and thank you for very clear instructions. Thanks, gef
Another great video, thnaks!
Good information. Use your back and hips as a turret to move your darts around the board.
Nice tips and great practice drill. I'll be trying it later.

Great to hear! Well done mate. 👏
Love the videos have helped me with my game. Keep them coming bud.
Very interesting. Will give this a bash for sure
Great video, as always! Thanks for the info

Great video mate, off topic question - you’re clearly a very good player, have you thought about/tried going pro?

It's easier to grip the dart when your fingers a slightly damp. We also use condensation off out glass. :)
My problem is I can't hit a treble 20 unless I've had a few beer 👍🍺🎯
That's most of us, mate. 😄 🤣
Do you coach full time now? Love the content as always Mr Poole
Yes, I do. :)

It probably because your wrists isn't moving enough at the point of release. You need the wrist to drag the dart to the target. :)
Thanks , I will focus more on the wrist flick.@@Straightdarts

@@Trounty Yeah, everything I coach is basic physics and statistical probability. Often, the smallest changes make a huge difference :)
That is good for aimers I suppose

@Straight to the point darts. Awesome. Ok, now I see it. Appreciate you pointing out that time.

@@stephentaylor2061 Try and flick the wrist more and sooner. Keep the throw soft. :)
@MattiaG04_ Check your not turning your elbow or bending your wrist sideways. :)
My doubles practice is 500 DIDO but you can only score on doubles.
Believe it or not it does help.
