    I use kalmbach Poultry crumble feed, works great and cheap but smells amazing haha and not powdery like purina.

    Zach: does the higher calcium content of the feed affect your roosters? I heard the roosters will have kidney problems with the higher calcium.

    You could totally become a quail feed dealer and increase your profits. 😊

    What feed already in the market without need to have it custom made would you recommend

      An all purpose layer feed works just fine as long as it is a crumble and 15-20% protein

    Best I can get where I’m at from local feed store is the Kalmbach 16% layer crumble. Is there something I can add to increase the protein?

      I would look at a game bird, turkey or pheasant starter and they should have one of those

    one more thing about things to feed the quail.. I had a female quail with wry neck i had fixed the problem by feeding vid d water and ground nuts and sunflower seed. will egg production change if all the quail are fed with mixture of quail pellets ground nuts and sunflower seed mix to give them Vitamin D in their diet?

    I’ve been using Purina Game Bird layer and it’s a crumble. But after awhile of just topping off their feed, their food container ends up with a big layer of mostly fine powder at the bottom. They don’t seem to eat this powder and go for the bigger crumble sized feed. Is there something I can do with this powdered feed? I know in the video you said not to grind the food but what about if you end up with it anyhow?

      Have an open bag of feed and mix in the waste food with the new food and then they are getting some of each and they will eat it all

    Would it be any issue to mix jumbo males with standar hen?
    Is it bad to add electrolite to the water all the time ?

    • @MyshireFarm
      @MyshireFarm  Год назад

      No they can go together and too much electrolytes is not good. Once a month is plenty

    Do you have to give quail like chickens grit and Oyster shell?

    • @MyshireFarm
      @MyshireFarm  Год назад

      You do not if they are in cages.

    Do you have different food for the males or can they eat it?

    • @suemckee1598
      @suemckee1598 Год назад

      Males that I have eat exactly what the females do. I can't see how you would seperate them to feed them anything different and I've never had a problem with the males eating the food.

    • @soswanson9120
      @soswanson9120 Год назад

      Males in a breeder/colony cage can eat the same calcium and feed that the hens eat. There is no real way for the males to eat anything different unless they are housed separately. The males are typically replaced every year, thus, there is no real damage to them eating this calcium level. If you have a male/bachelor cage, you keep them on the grower feed to put on the extra weight.

    • @MyshireFarm

      @MyshireFarm  Год назад

      Splay leg is due to an environmental issue: it is a slippery surface. You can put them in a shot glass for about 30 min and as long as it is the first day should correct

    Mine are 8 weeks no eggs, crowing or foam 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @MyshireFarm
      @MyshireFarm  Год назад +1

      Most likely that is due to a light issue not a feed issue. They need 16-18 hours of light a day
